This article focuses on the role of intergenerational status attainment for legal careers. By decomposing the earnings gap between elite and nonelite lawyers at two points in their careers, we find that inherited cultural capital produces an earnings advantage as soon as lawyers begin their careers and that this gap persists over time. We further find that the processes underlying this gap change as lawyers make their way through the profession. While in early careers, the elite advantage is due to stronger starting endowments, the advantage for junior lawyers results from a more complex process, which combines starting endowments, professional capital gained during the first years of practice, and the rate at which endowments are differentially rewarded in the profession. Elaborating on work that identifies the importance of maintaining and concentrating diverse forms of capital in the legal profession, we explain the process through which elite lawyers gain and retain their advantage over time.

ABSTRAK Pertumbuhan komunitas motor di Indonesia merupakan sebuah realita yang dihasilkan dari perkembangan sosial masyarakat yang semakin heterogen. Sebuah komunitas motor dibentuk oleh sekelompok orang yang memiliki hubungan khusus antara mereka, komunitas cenderung diidentifikasikan sebagai dasar atas kepemilikan atau identifikai bersama diantara kelompok minat yang sama. Melalui komunitas ini, mereka saling berbagi nilai kognitif, emosi dan material juga mengembangkan interaksi antar anggota kelompok. Komunikasi interpersonal merupakan proses timbal balik yang memiliki peranan penting dalam pergaulan manusia. Anggota kelompok yang sangat kohesif saling mengkomunikasikan ide masing-masing untuk menciptakan kerjasama agar tercapai suatu tujuan yang diinginkan bersama-sama. Kohesivitas penting bagi kelompok karena ia yang menyatukan beragam anggota menjadi satu kelompok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan komunikasi interpersonal terhadap kohesivitas kelompok pada komunitas motor. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini yaitu Ada peranan Komunikasi Interpersonal Terhadap Kohesivitas Kelompok pada Komunitas Motor di Banjarbaru. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 42 orang anggota komunitas motor. Pemilihan subjek yaitu dengan menggunakan teknik  sampling insidental. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Hasil analisa data menggunakan regresi linier sederhana yang menunjukkan bahwa ada peranan positif yang signifikan dari komunikasi interpersonal terhadap kohesivitas kelompok. Sebesar 77,8%, artinya peran komunikasi interpersonal terhadap kohesivitas kelompok cukup besar,  sisanya sebesar 22,2% dijelaskan oleh variabel lain yang tidak dimasukkan dalam penelitian ini. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada peranan komunikasi interpersonal terhadap kohesivitas kelompok pada komunitas motor. Oleh karena itu, disarankan untuk semua anggota komunitas motor mempertahankan kedekatan yang sudah terjalin serta lebih meningkatkan kekompakkan antar anggota kelompok. Kata Kunci: Komunikasi Interpersonal, Kohesivitas Kelompok, Komunitas Motor  ABSTRACT Growth of motorcycle communities in Indonesia is a reality that results from the social development of a society which is increasingly heterogeneous. A motorcycle community is established by a group of people who have a special relationship among them. This community tends to be identified as a basis for ownership or based on shared similar interests among members in the group. Through this community, they share the cognitive, emotional and material values, and also develop interaction between group members. Interpersonal communication is a reciprocal process that has an important role in human relationship. The very cohesive members in the group will mutually communicate their ideas to create cooperation in order to achieve a desired goal together. Cohesiveness is important for the group because it unites the diverse members into one group. The objective of this study was to find out the role of interpersonal communication towards group cohesiveness in motorcycle community. The hypothesis of this study was that there was a role of Interpersonal Communication towards Group Cohesiveness in Motorcycle Community in Banjarbaru. The subjects in the study were 42 members of a motorcycle community. They were selected using the purposive sampling technique. The method used in the study was a quantitative method. The results of data analysis using the simple linear regression showed that there was a significant positive role of interpersonal communication towards the group cohesiveness, as much as 77.8%, indicating that the role of interpersonal communication towards group cohesiveness was fairly high, and the remaining 22.2% was explained by other variables not included in this study. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there was a role of interpersonal communication towards group cohesiveness in motorcycle community. Therefore, it is suggested for all members of motorcycle communities to maintain the attachment already established and to further improve the togetherness among group members. Keywords: Interpersonal Communication, Group Cohesiveness, Motorcycle Community

Japan has become a super-aged society, facing demographic challenges resulting in societal and economic consequences. In its political structural reform, the Japanese government presented the urgency to consider the increase in labor mobility that includes the issues of immigration and female employment, both domestic and foreign. The aim of this study was to explore, from a Japanese woman’s perspective, the intertwined issues of immigration. An in-depth interview was performed and analyzed by content analysis with a methodological departure in qualitative journalistic interviewing. The case was a Japanese woman with a unique profile. The results of this study, family permanency and group cohesiveness, can contribute to understand the potential interdependency between the roles, within the Japanese society, of foreign female domestic workers and Japanese women. In conclusion, it appears that the pivotal role of women in the Japanese society and the global feminization of migration challenge Japanese social consistency.

<p>Playcentres are unique Aotearoa/New Zealand sessional early childhood education services which are run as parent cooperatives, where the  parents take on the role of educators in the centre. This study investigated the way parents-as-educators used their life experiences, skills and knowledges in their teaching practice. Case studies were completed for four parents-as-educators in one urban Playcentre during one 10 week school term, using observations of teaching practice and document analysis, a short questionnaire and individual interviews. Teaching practice was then described using a framework based on McWilliam, de Kruif and Zulli's (2002) four contexts of teaching. Results were analysed using Rogoff's (2003) personal, interpersonal and cultural planes of analysis and Reid and Stover's (2005) model of individual agency. The parents-as-educators primarily drew on their parenting experiences to inform their teaching practice, and were selective in applying other prior skills and knowledges, based on their current interests and passions and on specific choices about their future life paths. The utilisation of their background in their teaching practice was also influenced by their individual agency. This depended on their changing sense of belonging within the centre, on the context of the sessions which included interactions between adults and responses from the children, and on their perception of, and alignment with, Playcentre philosophy. Implications of the findings suggest that Playcentres should look for ways of empowering parents-as-educators to use their background skills and knowledges whilst respecting their choices, so that the children in the centres experience as rich a curriculum as possible. To do this Playcentre philosophy should be more openly debated. This is because the philosophy of parents and children learning together added to group cohesiveness and empowered the parents-as-educators, yet other philosophical tenets, such as child-centredness and the approach to teaching art, created tension and constrained the parents-as-educators from fully using their background in their teaching practice.</p>

This study examined influence of group cohesiveness and the role of leadership style on the relationship between budgetary participation and budgetary slack. The samples in this study using purposive sampling. The subjects of this study are middle and lower manager in local govermment institutions including section /departement/sub-section head, under the municipality and regencies in the city government of Bengkulu were amounted to 63 respondents. Hypothesis are tasted empirically used regression. The result of study indicated that, first, budgetary participation influences to budgetary slack. Second, group cohesiveness as moderating variable in the relation of budgetary participation with budgetary slack. Third, the role of leadership syle as moderating variable in the relation of budgetary participation with budgetary slack. This article looks at the relationship between five sub-dimensions of transformational leadership (idealised influence attributed, idealised influence behaviour, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualised consideration), follower’s karma-yoga and follower’s perceived group cohesiveness. Data were collected in a research and development organisation in India, from 771 employees (561 male and 210 female) with minimum 5 years of work experience in that organisation. Partial least squares structural equation modelling PLS-SEM analysis shows that four sub-dimensions of transformational leadership—idealised influence attributed, idealised influence behaviour, inspirational motivation, and intellectual stimulation—are positively related to follower’s perceived group cohesiveness. In addition, this relationship is partially mediated by the follower’s karma-yoga. Focusing on increasing the frequency of idealised influence attributed, idealised influence behaviour, inspirational motivation and intellectual stimulation of managers will result in making the employees more karma-yoga oriented; both these will result in increasing the follower’s perceived group cohesiveness in the organisation, making the work environment more harmonious and productive.
