The optical properties and photovoltaic characterization of CdS quantum dots sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs) were studied. CdS QDs were prepared by the chemical solution deposition (CD) technique. Photoacoustic spectroscopy (PA) was employed to study the optical properties of the prepared samples. The sizes of the CdS QDs were estimated from transmission electron microscope (TEM) micrographs gives radii ranged from 1.57 to 1.92 nm. The current density-voltage (J-V) characteristic curves of the assembled QDSSCs were measured. Fluorine doped Tin Oxide (FTO) substrates were coated with 20 nm-diameter TiO2nanoparticles (NPs). Presynthesized colloidal CdS quantum dots of different particles size were deposited on the TiO2-coated substrates using direct adsorption (DA) method. The FTO counter electrodes were coated with platinum, while the electroelectrolyte containingI-/I-3redox species was sandwiched between the two electrodes. The short current density (Jsc) and efficiency (η) increases as the particle size increases. The values ofJscincreases linearly with increasing the intensities of the sun light which indicates the greater sensitivity of the assembled cells.

In this study, an easy, low-cost, green, and environmentallyfriendlier reagents have been used to prepare CdS QDs, in chemicalreaction method by mixed different ratio of CdO and sulfur inparaffin liquid as solvent and oleic acid as the reacting media indifferent concentration to get the optimum condition of the reactionto formation CdS QDs. The results give an indication that thebehavior is at small concentration of 4ml of the oleic acid is bestconcentration which give CdS QDs of small about to 9.23 nm withnano fiber configuration.

Quantum dots (QDs) have a great potential to be applied as a biosensor to detect cancer cells because of their properties such as high photoluminescence, photo stability, narrow peak of luminescence, etc. However, cadmium sulphide (CdS) quantum dots are toxic and hydrophobic, making it impossible to be applied into biomaterials. A template is needed to make CdS QDs nontoxic and hydrophilic. The optical properties of these QDs are needed to be protected. To achieve this purpose, the template for CdS QDs has been designed by capping CdS QDs with apo-ferritin shells before aligning them onto cylindrical perpendicular PS-b-P2VP template, with the aim of locating CdS QDs appropriately in sequence. A host-guest system can be developed.

By using the numerical discretization method within the effective-mass approximation, we have theoretically investigated the exciton-related Raman scattering, interband absorption and photoluminescence in colloidal CdSe/CdS core/shell quantum dots ensemble. The interband optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra have been revealed for CdSe/CdS quantum dots, taking into account the size dispersion of the ensemble. Numerical calculation of the differential cross section has been presented for the exciton-related Stokes–Raman scattering in CdSe/CdS quantum dots ensemble with different mean sizes.
