Abstract Researchers widely agree that working with communication partners is a critical component of any AAC intervention program. However, it can be difficult for clinicians to know how to structure this type of indirect intervention to do more than “tell” communication partners of individuals using AAC what they “should” be doing. The ImPAACT Program is one intervention program that has been documented to yield positive results for clients using AAC. The program involves a structured multistep approach to intervention that clinicians can customize for use across a range of communication partners, clients, and instructional contexts. In this article, we provide an overview of the program's instructional content, approach, and basis of evidence.

Abstract Clinicians and researchers long have recognized that teaching communication partners how to provide AAC supports is essential to AAC success. One way to improve clinical outcomes is to select appropriate skills to teach communication partners. Although this sometimes seems like it should be a straightforward component of any intervention program, deciding which skills to teach partners can present multiple challenges. In this article, we will troubleshoot common issues and discuss how to select skills systematically, resulting in the desired effects for both communication partners and clients.

Many scholars consider Kwang-Chung Yu (1928–2017) a prominent practitioner of free verse. The poetic quality of his work shows considerable ingenuity, and a key feature is his use of personification to create a humorous style. Collection of Humorous Free Verses by Kwang-Chung Yu contains the most representative examples of his work. As there are no existing studies on how Yu’s personification technique could be used for language education, the present study takes a qualitative approach to explore this topic. Of the verses featured in the collection, 88% of them use personification, and 102 personified themes were found overall. The discussion consists of four parts that serve as references for language education: (1) an analysis of examples representing the six categories of personified themes, (2) eight major reflection shortcuts for personification; (3) the association and application of eight types of situations for personification; and (4) a review of an online questionnaire and its positive results. The concluding section summarises Yu’s use of personification and presents a comprehensive model of personification for language education based on a pragmatic analysis. This model is a study of a master poet and is sure to be of interest to anyone who wants to know how personification techniques are crafted.

Abstract Background: Echinococcosis remains endemic despite attempts to reduce the prevalence of this disease. The dog faeces were analyzed by coproantigen using the immunoenzymatic technique for the diagnosis of echinococcosis before and after the direct and observed administration of praziquantel 5mg by kg orally in three doses every 30 days each cycle was 2 times at year for two consecutive years. The objective of the study was to evaluate the results of an intervention program based on antiparasitic therapy directly administered to the dogs for the control of Echinococcus in an endemic area of cystic echinococcosis (CE).Results: A total of 252 dogs entered the study, of them 119 (47%) dogs had positive results for Echinococcus at the beginning of the intervention. The adverse effects that occurred with the administration of prazicuantel were vomiting (13%), diarrhea (2.4%) and lethargy (2%); 229 dogs completed the 4 cycles of praziquantel treatment. The presence of a positive coproantigen was evident in 03 (1.3%) dogs at the end of the study. Conclusions: Antiparasitic chemotherapy administered directly to the dogs periodically managed to reduce the prevalence of canine echinococcosis.

AbstractLarge companies can have both massively positive and massively negative impacts on communities, be it directly through their operations or indirectly through their influence on decision-makers. This is particularly true when business operations take place in conflict-affected or high-risk areas. Humanitarian organisations endeavouring to bring protection and/or assistance in these areas cannot, therefore, ignore these influential actors. Engagement with business actors – as well as with any other societal actor – should be framed within a clear rationale in order to deliver positive results. This article introduces the rationale that has been developed by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and offers some examples of past engagement between the ICRC and business actors. It notes that occasions for humanitarian organisations to engage with business actors are likely to become more frequent in the coming years and argues that this trend, if properly managed, offers humanitarian organisations opportunities to leverage energies, know-how, and resources from the business sector for the benefit of the persons and communities that humanitarian organisations strive to protect and assist.

This research was conducted to find out how much the effectiveness and contribution of regional taxes on Regional Original Revenue (PAD), as well as to know how the relationship between local taxes and Kendal Regency Regional Revenue (PAD). Data collection methods used are interviews and documentation. The writing method used is description and exposition. The result of the discussion is that the level of local tax effectiveness is very effective with an average of 126.49%, the criteria for regional tax contribution to regional original income are quite good with an average of 30.47%, the results of regression analysis show positive results which means the growth in number Regional Tax revenues will result in the growth of Regional Original Income, and the results of the correlation analysis show that the regional tax on Kendal District Original Revenue (PAD) has a very strong relationship with a coefficient r of 0.89 so that if the local tax increases then the Local Revenue Kendal Regency will alsoincrease.
Keywords: Regional Taxes, Regional Original Revenue, Effectiveness, and Contributions.

The didactic method of digital, game-based learning includes integrating educational content or learning standards into video games with the objective to engage pupils. The method combines instructional content with computer or video games and can be used with all subjects and at all ability levels. Exponents of digital game-based learning argue that it provides learning opportunities which involve learners in interactive teaching and encourages them to take part in the technological society of the 21st century. The necessity of digital, game-based learning arose in the last decades of the 20th century as world-wide improvements in innovation took place. Today's learners live their lives with easy access to technology. This paper discusses the need for, motivation for and adjustment of digital, game-based learning to meet the needs of contemporary and the future generations of learners. Specifically, a game prototype for pupils of 9 to 10 years of age was implemented and evaluated. A simple mathematical game was created to help children practice mathematical skills in a fun, logical, thoughtful, enjoyable, amusing and light-hearted way. The results of the evaluation showed that children were interested in using mobile devices to learn mathematics, and especially the multiplication table. During the study, children tried both to achieve positive results and enjoyed the game. Our findings indicate that using mobile-based games encourages a positive mental outlook in pupils toward mathematics, ensures their dynamic, noteworthy participation and supports the acquisition of mathematical knowledge.

The Niger Delta region of Nigeria has been ridden by youth restiveness and yet several intervention program have not yielded positive results. The study, therefore, evaluates the impact of youth empowerment strategies on conflict resolution using an ordered probit regression model. The study reveals that youth educational programs, provision of infrastructures and credit facilities showed significant effects as tools for conflict resolution. Employment opportunities and income indicated positive results yet they were not significant. This indicates that youth empowerment strategies must be sustainable if they have to make reasonable impact on conflict management.
