Macrotubules have been described1 in cells infected with Umatilla virus (UMAV), an orbivirus for which bluetongue virus (BTV) is the protype. Macrotubules, often in linear array, were observed in the cytoplasm and in intimate association with viroplasms of infected cells. Macrotubules had outside and inside diameters of 20 and 15 nm and many had dark-staining centers with diameters similar to the interiors of the tubules. UMAV was 60 nm and the RNA core was 30 nm in diameter. This report describes the association of UMAV with macrotubules and two types of microtubules.

Array sensors are widely used in various fields such as radar, wireless communications, autonomous vehicle applications, medical imaging, and astronomical observations fault diagnosis. Array signal processing is accomplished with a beam pattern which is produced by the signal's amplitude and phase at each element of array. The beam pattern can get rigorously distorted in case of failure of array element and effect its Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) badly. This paper proposes on a Hybrid Neural Network layer weight Goal Attain Optimization (HNNGAO) method to generate a recovery beam pattern which closely resembles the original beam pattern with remaining elements in the array. The proposed HNNGAO method is compared with classic synthesize beam pattern goal attain method and failed beam pattern generated in MATLAB environment. The results obtained proves that the proposed HNNGAO method gives better SNR ratio with remaining working element in linear array compared to classic goal attain method alone. Background: This study is carried out targeting the problem of slow response time and performance degradation of imaging system caused by large data of medical ultrasonic imaging. In view of the advantages of CS, it is applied to medical ultrasonic imaging to solve the above problems. Objective: Under the condition of satisfying the speed of ultrasound imaging, the quality of imaging can be further improved to provide the basis for accurate medical diagnosis. Methods: According to CS theory and the characteristics of the array ultrasonic imaging system, block compressed sensing ultrasonic imaging algorithm is proposed based on wavelet sparse representation. Results: Three kinds of observation matrices have been designed on the basis of the proposed algorithm, which can be selected to reduce the number of the linear array channels and the complexity of the ultrasonic imaging system to some extent. Conclusion: The corresponding simulation program is designed, and the result shows that this algorithm can greatly reduce the total data amount required by imaging and the number of data channels required for linear array transducer to receive data. The imaging effect has been greatly improved compared with that of the spatial frequency domain sparse algorithm.

Background: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been researched to be one of the ground-breaking technologies for the remote monitoring of pipeline infrastructure of the Oil and Gas industry. Research have also shown that the preferred deployment approach of the sensor network on pipeline structures follows a linear array of nodes, placed a distance apart from each other across the infrastructure length. The linear array topology of the sensor nodes gives rise to the name Linear Wireless Sensor Networks (LWSNs) which over the years have seen themselves being applied to pipelines for effective remote monitoring and surveillance. This paper aims to investigate the energy consumption issue associated with LWSNs deployed in cluster-based fashion along a pipeline infrastructure. Methods: Through quantitative analysis, the study attempts to approach the investigation conceptually focusing on mathematical analysis of proposed models to bring about conjectures on energy consumption performance. Results: From the derived analysis, results have shown that energy consumption is diminished to a minimum if there is a sink for every placed sensor node in the LWSN. To be precise, the analysis conceptually demonstrate that groups containing small number of nodes with a corresponding sink node is the approach to follow when pursuing a cluster-based LWSN for pipeline monitoring applications. Conclusion: From the results, it is discovered that energy consumption of a deployed LWSN can be decreased by creating groups out of the total deployed nodes with a sink servicing each group. In essence, the smaller number of nodes each group contains with a corresponding sink, the less energy consumed in total for the entire LWSN. This therefore means that a sink for every individual node will attribute to minimum energy consumption for every non-sink node. From the study, it can be concurred that energy consumption of a LWSN is inversely proportional to the number of sinks deployed and hence the number of groups created.

This paper considers the problem of estimating the direction of arrival (DOA) for the both incoherent and coherent signals from narrowband sources, located in the far field in the case of uniform linear array sensors. Three different methods are analyzed. Specifically, these methods are Music, Root-Music and ESPRIT. The pros and cons of these methods are identified and compared in light of different viewpoints. The performance of the three methods is evaluated, analytically, when possible, and by Matlab simulation. This paper can be a roadmap for beginners in understanding the basic concepts of DOA estimation issues, properties and performance.
