The agricultural foundation is weak in Gansu Province. In recent years, with the implementation of various policies to benefit farmers, agriculture and rural areas have undergone tremendous changes and made remarkable achievements. However, there are still many problems, and the gap is still expanding compared with the whole country. In order to further improve agricultural modernization in Gansu Province, this paper uses the entropy method to evaluate and compare the development of agricultural modernization in Gansu Province in the past 10 years. Through the corresponding countermeasures, it provides a theoretical basis for Gansu Province to formulate agricultural modernization development plans and policy measures.

The development of rural areas is a significant component in social and economic activities. It is very important for optimizing the allocation of rural production and living factors, promoting the integration of urban and rural areas and sustainable development to identify the characteristics and main types of regional rural development. In this paper, 169 villages in Jingyuan County were selected as the research object, and the evaluation index system of rural development level was constructed from the perspective of “Factor-structure-function”. The rural development level and spatial structure characteristics of Jingyuan County were analyzed by using rural development index, regional function index, nearest neighbor index, and exploratory spatial data analysis, and the types and specific paths of rural development were determined. The results showed the following: Rural development of Jingyuan County is at a low level, which is characterized by “high in the south and low in the north”. The level of rural development shows significant spatial dependence in the global space, and the spatial agglomeration characteristics are obvious, which are manifested as strong agglomeration dominated by resource endowment and cultural function and weak agglomeration dominated by production function and location relationship. The local space is characterized by stable high value and high value (H-H), low value and low value (L-L) bidirectional agglomeration. According to the spatial characteristics of the rural development level, the “4 + 10 + 6 + 2” system of rural development type identification in Jingyuan County was constructed, and finally it was determined that policy leading and characteristic protection are the dominant types of rural development. Based on this, this paper put forward specific paths and development models of different types of rural development in Jingyuan County from seven dimensions: industry, population, land, tourism, space, culture and ecology, so as to provide ideas and references for the integration of urban and rural areas, the implementation of rural revitalization strategy, and sustainable development in the western poverty-stricken areas.

The construction engineering of smart grid is the key plan for the electricity grid development of China. To build a strong smart grid has been the main goal for the development of regional grid, thus, it is of great significance to study on the smartness level of regional grid. This paper establishes a comprehensive evaluation system for the regional grid development level; analyzes from aspects of safety, economy, quality, and efficiency. A hierarchical optimized combination evaluation model is proposed, and its progressiveness and applicability are verified. The study provides theoretical basis and practical evidence for judging the development level of regional smart grid construction of China from an overall and multi-angle perspective.

Comparing to the dispersed sea-use way, the intensive and economical sea-use method is a way to change the traditional method, which can implement intensive development in suitable marine areas with suitable scales in flakes. Intensive sea reclamation engineering with comparatively large scales will inevitably impact on the sustainability of economy, environment and resource. Since 2009, Shandong government has planned 9 large and 10 small sea areas, total about 1500 square kilometers for the intensive and economical sea-use. In order to evaluate the sustainable development level of the plan, the paper established a framework model of economy, resource and environment, as well as a sustainable development index system of intensive and economical sea-use in Shandong. An entropy method is used to determine the corresponding evaluation standard and evaluate the sustainable development level of intensive and economical sea-use in Shandong comprehensively. The result shows that the sustainable development level of intensive and economical sea-use in Shandong is acceptable.

Evaluation of water-saving development level of irrigation management level is an important foundation to make the water-saving and irrigation policy, and improve irrigation management. This paper established a comprehensive evaluation system for the developing level of water-saving and irrigation management after comprehensively analysis of main contents of irrigation management. It include 4 secondary level indicators and 16 third-level indicators, and build a comprehensive evaluation model. Further more, entropy method and gradation analysis method were introduced to calculate the combination weight of each evaluation indices, which enhance the scientific in weight calculation, and a comprehensive evaluating model for irrigation management and water-saving developing level was established on the basis of it. The comprehensive evaluation of irrigation management and water-saving developing for Sichuan Province and 21 other regions was done by this model, and the results are accord with Sichuan Provinces actual situation of the irrigation management and water-saving developing. Therefore, the model of comprehensive evaluation for irrigation management and water-saving development level has a relative strong practicability, which can offer scientific guidance for irrigation management and water-saving development in different regions.

Entrepreneurship of Inhabitants vs. Economic Activity of Large and Medium Enterprises in Rural Areas of Selected Historical Regions of PolandIn the past historical periods, each particular region of Poland was developing -- in a sense -- as separate organism; some of them were achieving a relative rise in the economic hierarchy, whereas some other were plunging in backwardness. These disparities have remained very distinctive until today, especially between the rural areas of different parts of the country. The aim of this paper is to determine diversifications of economic development level in four selected regions of Poland (Little Poland -- pol. Małopolska, West Pomerania, Lower Silesia and the Lublin Region), measured as the localisation range and characteristics of big and medium enterprises in rural areas. Another objective was to observe the relation between localisation and characteristics of those enterprises and the general initiative of local inhabitants. The analyses carried out for this paper have served to create a typology of communes, depending on the number of workplaces in big and medium enterprises in this areas, as well as the general initiative of inhabitants, which then enabled the assessment of economic disparities between rural areas of selected Polish regions.

Concerns that established temple Buddhism in Japan is in a state of crisis have been voiced by priests in various sectarian organizations in recent years. This article shows that there is a very real crisis facing Buddhism in modern Japan, with temples closing because of a lack of support and of priests to run them, and with a general turn away from Buddhism among the Japanese population. In rural areas falling populations have led to many temple closures, while in the modern cities people are increasingly turning away from the prime area in which Japanese people have traditionally engaged with Buddhist temples — the processes of death and their aftermath. Partly this is due to competition from new secular funeral industries, but partly also it is because public perceptions of Buddhism — which has become over-reliant on death rituals in Japan — have become highly negative in modern times. Even practices which have often been seen as areas in which Buddhist temples have been able to attract people — such as pilgrimages — are proving less successful than in the past, contributing further to a sense of crisis that threatens to undermine Buddhism’s roots in Japan.
