This condition is due to the civil war for the past six years, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which emerged as a health security threat. This research aims to analyse the WHO’s role in responding health crisis in Yemen. By using qualitative methods and literature review approach, this article uses Atlas.ti to collect data regarding WHO’s activity in Yemen throughout the pandemic analysed by the international organisation’s role concept according to Clive Archer. The health security concept is also used to explain the health situation in Yemen during the pandemic. This research found accordance between WHO’s activities with Clive Archer’s idea of roles, mainly on its role as an independent actor to combat the health crisis in Yemen. However, the three roles are intertwined. As WHO has emphasised the importance of international aid to overcome Yemen’s health emergency, the writer recommends strengthening global solidarity with Yemen’s authority to improve health within the country.

The aim of the study was to assess the living conditions of the population of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship against the background of population changes. The study covered counties in the years 2002–2015. Linear ordering of objects with Weber median was used because of the asymmetry of most features. The linear ordering of counties was created in 2004, 2007 and 2015 years. The choice of years was related with the accession of Poland to the EU and the end of the first and second periods of EU funding. Based on the research conducted, it was found, that counties are strongly differentiated in terms of living conditions and population changes. In most of the poviats, the population has increased and living standards improved. Assessment of living conditions of the inhabitants of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship counties was presented in a dynamic way, considering population change. An original proposition of indicators measuring living conditions in a local approach was presented. Local authorities can take advantage of research results in decision making concerning improvement of social and economic development level in Voivodeship.

Until recently the provision of health care within prisons was the sole responsibility of the prison service. The Prison Health Service (formerly known as the Prison Medical Service) is the oldest civilian medical service in Britain. In addition to being much older than the NHS the Prison Health Service is much smaller, less well developed and less well resourced. Prison health care was coordinated by the Directorate of Health Care at the Home Office; the Department of Health and the NHS had no direct input. As a result, prisoners were afforded a standard of health care well below that provided by the NHS, and without radical reform there was little prospect of improvement. However, in recent years things have begun to change and last year collaboration between the prison service and the NHS resulted in the creation of a partnership between these two organisations (Joint Prison Service and NHS Executive Working Group, 1999). Although the intention is to improve health care standards for prisoners, the formal nature of this partnership also has the effect of making the NHS more directly responsible for health care in prisons.
