This study analyzed the translation techniques of Miyazawa Kenji's Hinoki to Hinageshi, which were translated to Indonesian as “Pohon Hinoki dan Bunga Hinageshi” by the UNPAD Press translation team. This short story tells about the life of a Hinoki tree with Hinageshi flowers that want to become a star, until one day a demon incarnates who wants to take advantage of Hinageshi flowers. In this short story, there are words that have a direct equivalent in Indonesian and those that do not have a direct word equivalent, so the aim of this study is to find the translation techniques used when translating this short story. The theory used is the theory of translation techniques by Hoed (2006), and data were collected using the literature review method. The collected data were analyzed with a distributional method. There are 7 types of translation techniques used by the translator: 1) Transposition, 2) Modulation, in the form of shifted meaning and a shift in the scope of meaning, 3) Descriptive Translation, 4) Contextual Conditioning, 5) Official/Standard Translation, and 6) Cultural Equivalent.

This article aims to explain how to translate the words of Bahasa Indonesia with the local cultural meaning, as sources language, to English, as target language. the mentioned words are taken from short story and would translate in the level og textual and referential level. firstly, it tried to find the meaning of the words based on the bilingual dictionary, Indonesian-English. Furthermore, they are consulted to the monolingual dictionary. finally the translation used is those accepted in target language speaking through the translation techniques, namely contextual conditioning.

This chapter analyses two travel narratives within the scope of literature and tourism studies, aiming to explore the motivations to undertake journeying and the experience of (literary) pilgrims. The first is the novel Flights, by Olga Tokarczuk (2007), and the second is “How the Mind Works,” by Patti Smith (2017). This chapter defines the umbrella concept of “tourist literature” and takes a cross-disciplinary perspective combining the hermeneutics process with findings from the literature review on tourism studies. The analysis of Flights reveals the touring identity and experience of a pilgrim and reflections about airports, travel guides, tourists, and their syndromes. The analysis of Patti Smith's short story uncovers the touring identity and experience of a literary pilgrim who is strongly motivated to undertake literary-inspired trips towards the authors' places.

The present study was aimed at describing the translation techniques used by the translator in the books of Banal Aesthetics & Critical Spiritualism written by Erik Prasetya & Ayu Utami. Descriptive qualitative approach was employed through collecting the data related to the concerned and researched problems. The theory of translation technique suggested by Molina and Albir became the reference to classify the translation techniques used in the translation of the books of Banal Aesthetics & Critical Spiritualism. Document analysis and literature review were employed to collect the data. The analysis results indicated that there were 15 types of translation techniques used from 18 ones as what is suggested by Molina and Albir. The five most widely used techniques of translation techniques in the books of Banal Aesthetics & Critical Spiritualism were: literal translation (33, 46%), modulation (14.96%), reduction (14.56%), established equivalent (11.02%), and borrowing (9.84%). Meanwhile, three translation techniques that were not used are: calque, substitution, and variation.

Short stories are one type of modern literary work that has the privilege of forming a whole short story but still interesting for readers. The whole story in the short story cannot be separated from the elements that make it up. This study aimed to determine the intrinsic elements of the short story Yuki no Hi by Higuchi Ichiyō. The elements analyzed were themes and messages, characters and characterizations, plot, setting, and point of view. The theory used is the theory of structuralism with literature review techniques and qualitative analysis techniques. This research shows that the structure of this short story forms a unity of an exciting story from beginning to the end because of the integration of intrinsic elements in supporting the story presented. In addition, the use of deautomation techniques that delay the reader's understanding until the end of the story has succeeded in making the suspense of the story more interesting

Translator has a choice in translating text which contains cultural and social background of source language. It determines the translators ideology toward their stance in introducing or maintaining the culture language. The ideology of translator can be seen through one of the ways which is they translating the CSI of source text. The translation techniques is used to examine the CSI could identify the ideology they choose. This research aims to examine the translator ideology through CSI analysis in the translation text from English to Indonesian of short story The Necklace. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The result shows that the translator tends to choose domestication ideology since the setting, theme and plot of the story makes the target reader feels relatable experience while reading it. Therefore, translator used translation techniques which contributed to maintenance the readability, equivalency, and acceptability of the source text.

<p><em>Abstrak</em> - <strong>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan citra perempuan dan nilai heroisme yang direfleksikan di dalam cerpen Mademoiselle Fifi karya Guy de Maupassant, seorang penulis realis Perancis dari abad XIX.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan kritik sastra feminis dan sosiologi sastra. Data berupa kata, frasa, dan kalimat yang berkaitan dengan citra perempuan dan nilai heroisme dalam objek yang dikaji, dikumpulkan dengan teknik studi pustaka. Data kemudian diklasifikasi, diinterpretasi, dan dianalisis dengan landasan teoretis yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perempuan dicitrakan sebagai sosok yang pemberani, cerdas, dan agresif. Namun, di level sosial dan pendidikan, perempuan masih dianggap berada di bawah kuasa laki-laki. Nilai heroisme lewat tokoh Rachel dapat dilihat saat ia berani melawan Mademoiselle Fifi, saat ia setia membela kehormatan tentara Prancis, dan saat ia berani mengambil risiko untuk membunuh Mademoiselle Fifi.</strong></p><p><em>Abstract</em><strong> - This study aims to describe the image of women and heroism which are reflected in <em>Mademoiselle Fifi</em> short story written by Guy de Maupassant, a French writer in 19th century. The methodology used in this study is qualitative descriptive with feminist criticism theory and literary sociology approaches. The data of this study are the words, phrases, and sentences related to the image of women and heroism in the research object, examined through the literature review technic. The data will later be classified, interpreted, and analyzed using relevant theories. The result of the study shows that women are depicted as brave, clever, and aggressive. However, in the social and educational level, women are still thought of under men’s control. Heroism values in Rachel can be seen at the moment when she is brave to fight against <em>Mademoiselle Fifi</em>, when she defends the honor of French soldiers and when she is brave enough to take a risk in murdering <em>Mademoiselle Fifi</em>.</strong></p><p><strong><em>Keywords</em></strong><em> - The image of women, Heroism, Guy de Maupassant, Mademoiselle Fifi.</em></p><p align="center"> </p><p> </p>

Computerized auditory training (CAT) is a convenient, low-cost approach to improving communication of individuals with hearing loss or other communicative disorders. A number of CAT programs are being marketed to patients and audiologists. The present literature review is an examination of evidence for the effectiveness of CAT in improving speech perception in adults with hearing impairments. Six current CAT programs, used in 9 published studies, were reviewed. In all 9 studies, some benefit of CAT for speech perception was demonstrated. Although these results are encouraging, the overall quality of available evidence remains low, and many programs currently on the market have not yet been evaluated. Thus, caution is needed when selecting CAT programs for specific patients. It is hoped that future researchers will (a) examine a greater number of CAT programs using more rigorous experimental designs, (b) determine which program features and training regimens are most effective, and (c) indicate which patients may benefit from CAT the most.

AbstractPurpose: The purpose of this article is to inform speech-language pathologists in the schools about issues related to the care of children with traumatic brain injury.Method: Literature review of characteristics, outcomes and issues related to the needs serving children.Results: Due to acquired changes in cognition, children with traumatic brain injury have unique needs in a school setting.Conclusions: Speech-Language Pathologists in the school can take a leadership role with taking care of children after a traumatic brain injury and coordination of medical and educational information.
