The article is devoted to the research of career orientations (career “anchors”) with education and labor activity motivation of students. 114 students of “Psychological and pedagogical education” took part in the study. It is revealed that the most adequate motivation of education ex-pressed in the predominance of motives for acquiring knowledge and mastering the profession is associated with career orientations “service / dedication to a cause”, “pure challenge”, “technical / functional competence”. In other words, it is connected with aspiration to realize basic values in their careers, to improve the world, to develop and apply professional skills, to solve difficult problems, to overcome obstacles, to win. The career anchor of “service / dedication to a cause” is also associated with an increase of the communicative motive and a decrease of the competitive motive of labor activity. The more students are guided by the formal motive of getting a diploma of higher education, the less the stability of a career is valuable for them. The more utilitarian and pragmatic motive of la-bor activity is expressed in students, the less they are inclined to managerial or entrepreneurial career. The more autonomy and independence in career is valuable for students, the less social usefulness of labor (cooperative motive) is important for them.

In these times of globalization, reengineering, of systematic processes in which higher institutions play a preponderant and transforming role; from this perspective universities justify their existence by promoting the formation of new entrepreneurs with a humanistic, technological and scientific spirit, through the necessary tools for students to develop their skills in their specialties in the world of work. In this context it is necessary to identify the level of articulation in the formative process of the new administrators of companies that are formed in our institution with the growing demands of entrepreneurship.

Previously the authors reported on a study in which an attempt was made at defining and measuring the construct career resilience (Fourie & Van Vuuren, 1998). The present article continues this investigation by reporting on the relationship between career resilience and career anchors, as defined in Scheins (1975; 1978; 1990; 1992) career anchor model. The aim of the study was to determine whether career anchor patterning could potentially inhibit or facilitate individuals' levels of career resilience. The "Career Resilience Questionnaire" (CRQ) (Fourie & Van Vuuren, 1998) together with Scheins (1990) "Career Orientations Inventory" (COI) were administered to 352 skilled employees. The findings regarding the statistical relationship between the two constructs are discussed.

In order to contribute to higher levels of job satisfaction, job involvement , and productivity, a match or fit should be established between the dominant career anchor associated with a specific occupation and that of the employee. A career anchor is an individual’s set of self-perceived talents, abilities, motives, needs and values that form the nucleus of one’s occupational self-concept. Psychologists have always been part of the service orientated careers and therefore one would expect that it is likely that their dominant career anchor would be service orientation. If this is the case, psychologists with service as their dominant career anchor are supposed to have greater job satisfaction and job involvement compared to those with different career anchors. However, according to literature, this assumption is not necessarily correct. The primary goals of the current study were to determine whether in fact service is the dominant career anchor of psychologists in the Free State and whether there are significant differences regarding job satisfaction and job involvement between psychologists with and without service as their dominant career anchor. A third goal was to determine whether psychologists with different dominant career anchors differ significantly from one another regarding job satisfaction and job involvement. Questionnaires measuring career orientations, job satisfaction and job involvement were sent to 165 of the 171 registered psychologists in the Free State region. Only 75 psychologists (45,5%) responded which exceeded the traditional return rate of 20 to 30%. Due to the small sample of respondents, a nonparametric statistical test, namely the Mann Whitney U test was conducted to determine possible differences. An analysis of the data showed that 21 respondents had entrepreneurship as their dominant career orientation while 12 fell in the technical/functional, 12 in the challenging, 9 in the service and 8 in the autonomy categories of dominant career anchors. No significant differences regarding job satisfaction between psychologists with and without service as dominant career orientation could be determined. Both groups experienced a fairly high degree of job satisfaction and a higher level of intrinsic job satisfaction occurred compared to extrinsic job satisfaction. A significant difference between the two groups in terms of job involvement occurred. Psychologists with service as dominant career orientation showed a higher level of job involvement, although the degree of job involvement for both groups was fairly low. No significant differences regarding job satisfaction and job involvement among psychologists with different career orientations could be found.

The career anchors of a sample of 95 business and professional woman were studied by means of the Career Orientations Inventory (DeLong, 1982). The hierarchy of career anchors of the sample was as follows: Service, Variety, Security (job tenure), Managerial competence. Autonomy, Identity, Technical/functional competence, Entrepreneurship and Security (geographical location). A few significant differences in career anchors did occur between various occupational groups. The implicatons of these findings in terms of career management in organisations are discussed. The main aim of the study was to identify the career anchors of employees working in Islamic banks of Bahrain and to examine the similarities or differences, in the career anchor preferences of males and females, managers and non-managers, and among the three generations [baby-boomers, Gen X and Gen Y]. Edgar Schein’s eight career anchors formed the basis of this study. The study revealed that there is no significant difference in the career anchor preferences of the male, female, managers and non-managers. The main anchor for majority of these categories was technical/functional competence, for the second majority of respondents it was general managerial competence. The career anchors preference of babyboomers and Gen X, and Gen X and Gen Y was somewhat similar. However there was a variation in the career anchor preferences of baby-boomers and Gen Y. Majority of the baby-boomers and Gen X preferred technical/functional competence as their main anchor, and Gen Y opted for general managerial competence. The preferred anchor for the second majority of baby-boomers was security/stability, for Gen X general managerial competence and Gen Y pure challenge. The findings of this study would facilitate Islamic banks in Bahrain to develop appropriate career development plans based on their employee preferences. For male, female, managers and non-managers, career plans based on career anchors like technical/functional competence, and general managerial competence need to be made. Whereas for baby-boomers, Gen X and Gen Y relevant career plans based on specific preferences need to be formulated.

The article is based on the generalization of the results of the study of the reader's choice of the youth audience. The study (2019-2021) involved students studying at the humanitarian universities of Russia and Kazakhstan -in total, the study covered the reading preferences of 138 students. In surveys, interviews, and conversations, attention was focused on the choice of preferred texts that were attractive to them by students, on determining the qualities of the writer's artistic world that were most interesting to them, on their attitude to the images of literary heroes. The language of a work of art reveals to the reader a figuratively transmitted knowledge about the world. The surveys conducted within the framework of the study show active support among students of such a personality quality as ecological consciousness. Perhaps it is this quality that can be called a kind of key to understanding the era, a kind of "metaphor of modernity". The article presents an algorithm for working with texts of modern prose in the educational process of humanities students mastering the ways of penetrating into the depth of the author's intention. It has been determined that the development of modern prose creates opportunities for all-round creative growth, the formation of aesthetic taste, and readiness for truly creative reading. All these features, taken together, have a positive effect on the critical thinking development, broadening the cultural outlook, and ensures the stability of the value positions of student youth.

Abstract The quest for urgent solution to resolve the world liquidity problem has continued to generate enthusiastic debates among political economists, policy makers and the academia. The argument has focused on whether the World Bank Group was established to enhance the stability of international financial system or meant to enrich the developed nations. This study argues that the existing political interest of the World Bank Group in Africa may serve as lesson learned to other ambitious African Monetary Union.

This book discusses the local effects of globalisation, especially in the context of social work, health and practical theology, as well as the challenges of higher education in a troubled world. The more globalised the world becomes, the more important local identities are. The global becomes effective in the local sphere. This phenomenon, called ‘glocalisation’ since the 1990s, poses many challenges to people and to the social structures in which they operate.
