Evacuation zones are a critical tool for mitigating loss of life in tsunami events. In New Zealand, tsunami evacuation zones are implemented by emergency management agencies at regional or sub-regional scales, providing national coverage for populated coastlines at risk to tsunami inundation. In this study, we apply the exposure component of a risk model framework (RiskScape) to deliver a first national-scale assessment of New Zealand’s population and built-environment exposure in tsunami evacuation zones. Usually-resident populations, buildings, land and transport network components are identified at an asset level and enumerated at national and regional scales. Evacuation zones are occupied by just under 10% of New Zealand’s population, residing in 399,000 residential buildings. These are supported by a further 5400 critical buildings and 6300 km of road transport network. Approximately 40% of exposed populations and buildings occupy evacuation zones expected to be inundated once every 500 years. This includes over 150,000 people in highly vulnerable age groups, i.e., children and elderly. The complex arrangement of built environments highlights a need for disaster risk managers to proactively identify and prepare populations for evacuation based on their vulnerability to harm from tsunami and ability to access resources for recovery after the event.

Transport is a sector that is said to be negatively affecting the environment. The continuous development of transport increases the negative impact on the environment and civilization. In the article authors present the parameters that were used to describe the size of harmful transport exhaust emissions, in particular by means of road transport and the factors affecting their size. The areas where the level of concentrations of air pollutants are exceeded in Poland were characterized and analysed. Also examples of the stream traffic distribution in the selected area of the transport network were presented.

Purpose of this study is to develop a logistics processes interaction model within the development of urban agglomeration, taking into account basic functional areas of logistics. Objectives of the study were to define the concept of "agglomeration logistics", to identify the main logistics processes of agglomeration, to calculate the logistics stability index (LSI) for the Almaty urban agglomeration In this paper such research methods as text analysis, logic modeling, survey method of analysis of hierarchies were used. The significance of the study lies in the development of a model explaining the nature of logistics processes interactions in Almaty urban agglomeration. The novelty of the research lies in adaptation and practical application of the methodology for assessing sustainability of urban agglomeration logistics and identifying most influencing factors in order to improve it. The main results of the research are: formulating the concept of "agglomeration logistics", identifying interaction algorithms of the main agglomeration logistics processes and calculating the logistics stability index for Almaty agglomeration. The following conclusions were made: there are problems of inefficient functioning of logistics processes within the agglomeration. Increasing number of road cargo and passengers has revealed the need to increase road transport network efficiency and carrying capacity; as a result of territorial structure, insufficient development of transport communications between the agglomerations ‘districts, loads on the road transport network increased, which led to violations of fundamental logistics` rules such as "just in time", "optimal route", "high delivery speed", which increases the load on logistics processes and hinders its integration; main constraints to the sustainability of logistics in Almaty agglomeration are air pollution and poor road safety.

The article is devoted to the study of the transport network development in Transcarpathia along the border with the EU neighboring countries. The historical stages of the Transcarpathian transport network formation are considered. The main criteria for evaluation and conformity of the transport network in Ukraine have been determined in accordance with European standards. A number of legislative, regulatory, strategic and programme documents covering the development of the national transport network and border infrastructure within the study area are analyzed. The main factors proving the foreign economic activity of the Transcarpathian region towards the EU market are considered and highlighted. The capacity of transit through Ukraine and Transcarpathia within the cross-border territories are revealed. The necessity of the transport network construction is considered due to the fact that the number of passengers and cargo flows on the state border is increasing. It is described, for example, the capacity of rail and road transport across the border of Ukraine and the borders of neighbouring countries , in particular: Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania. It is statistically concluded that the most congested is the Ukrainian-Hungarian border area. The main obstacles to the effective implementation of transport and transit work in the study area are identified and possible solution is proposed involving reconstruction of old units and construction of new checkpoints on the border area of Transcarpathia and its neighbouring countries. The dimensional picture of the border areas is presented: Ukraine - Poland; Ukraine - Slovakia; Ukraine - Hungary; Ukraine - Romania. Within each part the natural resource potential, transport load, features of tourism development, necessity for development and the existing transport network modernization are characterized. Suggestions for construction the new checkpoints as well as their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed and discussed. The priorities of Ukrainian state policy, Transcarpathia as well as the priorities of neighbouring countries in the development of the national transport network within the cross-border territories have been determined.

The paper studies indicators of passenger movement volumes on road transport for regional transport network that are gained on the basis of ride-sharing on-line services. For the processing of data arrays of common rides’ services web-scraping is used. The paper also investigates time distribution of passenger traffic that shows the filling of cars by passengers on various sections of a route. Peculiarities and dependencies of day fluctuations of passenger traffic for the Sverdlovsk region transport network are analysed. The author has considered a task of modeling of seasonal and cyclical fluctuations of passenger traffic volumes. She has used all necessary statistical procedures required for identification and assessment of model parameters and verification of its adequacy and accuracy. The time series model with polynomial smoothing is used for short-term forecasting that allows analysing the dynamics of passenger traffic, decreasing costs on monitoring of information on passenger traffic and allows using results for solving tasks of technological organization of public transport.

Tanzania is the regional gateway for a number of landlocked neighboring countries. Zambia, Burundi, Malawi, Congo, Rwanda and Uganda all rely to certain extent on the countries transport network, linking them to the global network. Railways are found to be the most effective transport system in Tanzania after-road transport system and it is Critical to long-haul freight along the main transport corridors of Tanzania. Most of the operations at Tanzania Railway Sector are manual system. For instance closing and opening of the gates are not automatic resulting in calamities and delays in the train’s advent. An innovative method to enhance railway safety measures is proposed in this Paper. This research paper proposes mechanisms which operate automatically without any 600073 intervention. Internet of Things (IoT) can be used to increase different features of the rail system. Automation of railways can transform the current legacy approaches and help decrease the railway related accidents considerably. Many challenges are underscored and dealt with in the proposed research. To summate, this paper aims at enhancing rail safety, minimizing accidents at unmanned level crossings, introducing smart railway gates, preventing calamity, and incorporating digital transformation through the use of IoT.
