Online learning is one of the most rapidly growing trends in educational use of digital technologies. The article touches upon the importance of MyEnglishLab as one of the newest tools for blended English language learning. Due to the pandemics of the 2020 many learners began to implement different tools of digital technology to an increasing extent. An effective and appropriate tool for learning English aimed at developing communication skills allows to increase individualization of educational activity, to optimize mastering language structures and grammatical rules, and also to overcome some obstacles of both oral and written competences of the students. An interactive platform is one of the newest blended learning tools that combines different English language learning activities in a variety of formats. It is a web-based system providing learners 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online access to the teacher-managed course content, supports different learning styles, provides students with a large number of supervised practices. The platform MyEnglishLab contains lexical and grammatical tasks, audio materials listening and reading as well as watching videos. Tasks are performed in three stages: the formation of lexical and grammatical skills; improvement of language skills and using those phrases and sentences that were consolidated in the first stage in the dialogue with a computer; development of skills to use lexical and grammatical knowledge acquired during the previous two stages. The platform has options for choosing the number of attempts to perform both test exercises and training. In this article we present a research carried out among the freshmen of Yerevan State University Faculty of European Languages and Communication.

<p class="0abstract">Mobile devices have proven to be an appropriate tool which expands the horizons of learning beyond the classroom through means of flexibility and portability. Throughout this study, the authors have worked with a set of design guidelines which were derived from the literature. The artifact developed considering these design guidelines has been evaluated among various user groups for better understanding of m-learning as a tool to support English Language Learning. Findings of these evaluations have been used to improve the design guidelines.  The authors also identify the effectiveness of mobile learning as a supporting medium of learning and as a primary medium of learning among different learner groups, which is another outcome of this study. </p>

Academic success of language learners is not only determined by their level of intelligence but it is also associated with the learning environment provided to them. The current study is an attempt to investigate the factors which affect learning environment of English language learners at government schools. In this context a survey based research design was selected by following quantitative methodology. Sample was drawn from the population parameter of government schools. The students were selected randomly whereas teachers and head teachers were selected by using convenient sampling technique. A questionnaire was developed, validated and administered to know the perspectives of the selected respondents. Findings of the study revealed that suitable school environment provides significant contributions to ESL learners&rsquo; performance and accomplishment. The study also found that student-teacher and teacher-parent relationship promote and strengthen language learning capacity of ESL learners. It is highly recommended to develop such school environment which is conducive to English language learning; as environmental factors at school are as important as pedagogical interventions of ESL teachers.

In Indonesian context, English has been taught in elementary school level and parents’ involvement is considered as one of the influencing factors which has contribution to the children’s language learning achievement. The rapid, complex and continuous societal changes in this digital era might impact and alter the possibilities of parents’ involvement in their children’s language learning. The current study explored the triggers and the barriers of parents’ home-based involvement in their children’s English language learning and the features of their involvement. The qualitative research by implementing semi-structured, in- depth interview with four parents of elementary students at one of private schools in Yogyakarta city was conducted. The findings show the three main triggers in parents’ home-based involvement namely: (1) parents’ belief of the importance of English, (2) the implementation of school technological learning tools and (3) parents’ expectation of their children academic achievement. While the barriers that parents encounter in their involvement are: (1) parents’ lack of time, (2) parents’ unproficiency in English and (3) parents’ unfamiliarity with the use of technological tools. As the features of involvement, the study reveals parents’ monitoring, accompaniment, assistances in their children’s home-learning activities, providing some additional English learning media and financing English private course. Keywords:  Barriers, Children’s English Language Learning, Parents’ Home-Based Involvement, Triggers

Researchers have proposed many multidimensional frameworks to identify significant and potential factors, e.g., educational background, positive feelings and career aspirations, that impact English learning attitude in second language acquisition. Yet, there is still very little research to graphically describe the interactions between these factors and how these factors directly or indirectly impact learning attitude. To this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted in Changchun University of Technology. Statistical measures and Bayesian network analysis were introduced to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze the collected data. Furthermore, the significant attitudinal differences between students majoring in the Liberal Arts or Sciences were investigated for the case study. Studying the interaction between these factors can help explain how they positively affect students’ attitudes toward English language learning. To stimulate interest, teachers may take targeted pedagogical approaches or strategies.

The past ten years has seen remarkable developments in mobile devices, especially mobile phones, and interest in the potential of using mobile phones in an educational setting has intensified recently. The author’s working group, in cooperation with eLPCO (e-learning Professional Competency) at Aoyama Gakuin University in Japan, started a mobile learning project in 2002 to demonstrate model programs of mobile learning using mobile phones (mLearning/MPs), with the findings from all the experiments conducted over the past seven years contributing to the educational process. This chapter first discusses the barriers, such as the psychological, pedagogical, and technological issues, that mLearning/MPs had to overcome. Next, the author introduces findings obtained from four projects carried out on the English language by mobile phones, and then provides suggestions on essential conditions required for a good program for mLearning/MPs. The chapter proposes open source-based mobile services as a way of overcoming barriers faced by mLearning/MPs, and as an effective model for English language learning using mobile phones.
