In “Le Horla”, Guy de Maupassant introduces us a narrator who provides us with his diary to the delight of the reader and despair of both. The seemingly insignificant details intended to surprise the reader, the family environment that becomes ominous, the drama that increases with reading ... all this leads the reader and the protagonist to a feeling of extreme anxiety, as few authors have known to handle masterfully. Faced with the almost bucolic beginning, the story takes us quickly to the world of irrational phenomena that unleash the fear, anguish and despair of the protagonist; and ours. An invisible presence steals his energy, sits on his chest and torments him. Is it an unknown creature? Is it madness? Is it a psychic vampire? Maupassant wrote this brief but intense and masterful narration, offering us a threatening entity, a presence that transcends the strange.

AbstractBackgroundResearch into violence among military personnel has not differentiated between stranger- and family-directed violence. While military factors (combat exposure and post-deployment mental health problems) are risk factors for general violence, there has been limited research on their impact on violence within the family environment. This study aims to compare the prevalence of family-directed and stranger-directed violence among a deployed sample of UK military personnel and to explore risk factors associated with both family- and stranger-directed violence.MethodThis study utilised data from a large cohort study which collected information by questionnaire from a representative sample of randomly selected deployed UK military personnel (n = 6711).ResultsThe prevalence of family violence immediately following return from deployment was 3.6% and 7.8% for stranger violence. Family violence was significantly associated with having left service, while stranger violence was associated with younger age, male gender, being single, having a history of antisocial behaviour as well as having left service. Deployment in a combat role was significantly associated with both family and stranger violence after adjustment for confounders [adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 1.92 (1.25–2.94), p = 0.003 and aOR = 1.77 (1.31–2.40), p < 0.001, respectively], as was the presence of symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, common mental disorders and aggression.ConclusionsExposure to combat and post-deployment mental health problems are risk factors for violence both inside and outside the family environment and should be considered in violence reduction programmes for military personnel. Further research using a validated measurement tool for family violence would improve comparability with other research.

Education character has become an important issue in the world of education lately, with the increasing and varied phenomena of moral decadence occurring in society and in government circles, especially among students. The government pays less attention to fostering education character. The government is more focused on continuous curriculum reform. This condition will get worse if the government, parents and schools or madrasah receive less serious attention. Sufistic education character is an important approach to be applied to overcome these moral decadency phenomena. Therefore, this study aims to provide alternative solutions in realizing children's education character both in the family environment, school environment and social environment. In addition, in this study the author offers several concepts of education character with the Sufistic character of al-Ghazali as in the book of Mohajul Abidin: first, preserving the eyes. Second, maintain the ears. Third, take care of the mouth. Fourth, maintain the stomach. Keywords: Biography of Al-Ghazali, Sufistic Education character in the book Minhajul Abidin

Kitab elə bir zəmidir ki, ondan hamı yesə də qurtarmaz Nizami Gəncəvi Reading plays an important role in the development of everyone as a person. Thus, through reading, people can further increase their worldview, life experience, morality, knowledge and skills, and the ability to speak. It is important for an individual to understand himself, his surroundings and the world, and to acquire the habit of reading. The child sees the world in the family, so the environment in which the child is first brought up is the family and parents. Since families are the first collective to influence the mental and physical development of children, their spiritual, cultural and moral qualities are also formed here for the first time. Along with all this, the child's acquisition of reading skills is closely related, first of all, to the efforts of teachers and the media, followed by the family. Since fiction books also give children a broader understanding of the world, they can be linked to a variety of topics in textbooks. Keywords: family, environment, student, reading, reading habits
