<p><strong>The </strong><strong>aim</strong> of the work is to establish the impact of adaptive physical education classes according to our proposed method on the motor abilities and behavior of children with autism spectrum disorders and on the quality of life of their families.</p><p><strong>Material and methods</strong>. Analysis and generalization of literature data on the peculiarities of psycho-motor development of children with autism, their behavior. Development of methods of adaptive physical education of children with autism, which includes exercises for the development of general and fine motor skills, imitation, coordination of movements and the development of physical qualities such as strength, agility, flexibility. Expert assessment of test exercises. Questionnaire of parents about the psychophysical condition of their children and the quality of life of families raising a child with autism. Methods of mathematical statistics.</p><p><strong>Results</strong>. It has been established that children with autism have significant impairments of motor activity and psychophysical condition, which significantly affects the quality of life of children and their families. There is a very low level of development of motor skills. Parents of children in the experimental group noted that from now on their children began to have fewer problems with movement, their movements became more coordinated and it became easier to move. In terms of self-care and self-care, the difficulties became less significant (average level), the usual daily activities also became easier, the phenomena of discomfort and anxiety decreased.</p><p><strong>Conclusions</strong>. Children with autism have significant deviations in motor development, arbitrariness of movements, understanding of expediency of movements, general motility of the body. Classes in adaptive physical education according to our proposed method allowed children with autism to overcome most motor disorders, which was a prerequisite for improving higher nervous activity and behavior. Significant improvement of psychophysical condition of children as a result of employment, and also growth of quality of life is established.</p>

Abstract The goal of the present study was to examine the quality of life (QOL) of parents of children with intellectual disability. An additional goal was to examine the effects of gender and educational status on the QOL of these parents. The sample for this study consisted of 50 parents of children with intellectual disabilities and 50 parents of children without disabilities as a control group. As A measure of QOL, we used Family Quality of Life Survey. Results have shown that there is a statistically significant difference between the perceived QOL of parents of children with intellectual disabilities and parents of typically developing children. The effects of gender and educational status on QOL of parents of children with intellectual disabilities were also statistically significant. However, there were no interaction effects of gender and educational status on the QOL. Given the lower QOL of parents of children with intellectual disability, it is important to provide them with support programs in order to improve their QOL.

This study investigate the influence of perceived social support, maternal stress and socio-economic status on quality of life of mothers of children with intellectual disability, Oyo State, Nigeria. A total of 93 mothers of children with intellectual disability were respondents to a structured questionnaire. Findings revealed that perceived social support and socio-economic status had significant positive relationship with quality of life of mothers of children with intellectual disability. Result showed that the relationship between maternal stress and quality of life was negative and significant.  Moreover, the study revealed that perceived social support had the highest relative contribution on quality of life of mothers followed by socio-economic status while the least was by maternal stress. Furthermore, the joint contribution of perceived social support, maternal stress and socio-economic status on quality of life of mothers was significant; therefore, the three variables should be given proper consideration so as to enhance quality of life mothers of children with intellectual disability.

ObjectiveChildren with intellectual disability and marked feeding difficulties may undergo gastrostomy insertion to assist with their nutritional and medication needs. Use has increased recently for younger children, and it is intended to provide long-term support. This study explored the perceived value of gastrostomy for the quality of life (QOL) of children with intellectual disabilities and their families.MethodsTwenty-one primary caregivers of children with intellectual disability aged 2–18 years participated in semistructured telephone interviews. Data were analysed using directed content analysis, and data were coded to existing QOL domains relevant to children with intellectual disability and their families.ResultsBenefits in each of the child and family QOL domains were represented in the interview data. For children, the impacts of gastrostomy for the physical health domain were predominant, supplemented by experiences of value for emotional well-being, social interactions, leisure activities and independence. For families, gastrostomy was integrated into multiple aspects of QOL relating to family interactions, parenting, resources and supports, health and safety, and advocacy support for disability. Shortcomings related to difficulties with equipment and complications.ConclusionsOur comprehensive overview of the value of gastrostomy for children with intellectual disability and their families was classified within a QOL framework. Gastrostomy was mainly supportive over long time periods across many QOL domains. Findings will be of use to patient counselling and education and the development of family support resources.
