The purpose of this study was: (1) determine differences in metacognitive awareness and cognitive abilities of students who learned with PBL and conventional strategies, (2) determine differences in metacognitive awareness, science process skills, and cognitive abilities among students with divergent thinking and character convergent strategies are learned with PBL. This study uses three different kinds of design that is descriptive research design, quasi-experimental design, and pre-experimental design to answer the research objectives numbered one through three in a row. The instrument used in this study were: (1) questionnaire divergent thinking and convergent character, (2) metacognitive awareness questionnaire, (3) observation sheets science process skills, and (4) tests of cognitive ability. Data were analyzed by inferential statistics. The results showed that: (1) there is no difference in metacognitive awareness and cognitive skills of students with learning strategies derived from PBL and conventional strategies, (2) there are no differences in metacognitive awareness and cognitive abilities among students divergent and convergent. Science process skills students better than the divergent-convergent.

The low problem-solving ability in understanding biology lessons makes biology lessons difficult for some prospective teachers to learn. This study aims to determine the contribution of science process skills to higher-order thinking skills. This study uses quantitative methods to analyse the HOTS skills of prospective biology teachers. The quantitative descriptive method used in this study. Data collected from 59 respondents through the Saturated Sampling technique. The instrument used was 54 multiple choice questions with indicators of science process skills and higher-order thinking skills. The data obtained is processed quantitatively with Microsoft Excel. Prospective Biology teachers have the contribution of science process skills with a high level of ability of 13% and a contribution is known. This research proves that the contribution of science process skills to prospective biology teachers to higher-level thinking skills has low categorisation. Keywords: Science Process Skills; Pre-service Teachers Biology; High-level Thinking Ability; biology lessons.

This study aimed to determined the differences between learning with free inquiry strategies on science process skills and learning outcomes on the materials of growth and development at SMA and MA in Kembang Tanjong, Pidie Regency. Data was collected on 6 October to 10 November 2018. This study use a quantitative descriptive approach with a quasi-experimental research technique. The design in this study is a non-equivalent control group design. The collecting of data divided  into two groups: the experimental group and the control group. The number of samples in this study were 50 students for the experimental class and 52 students for the control class. Hypothesis this study testing based on the SPSS program version 23.0 for windows of a significance level of 0.05 obtained results; the value of science process skills students 6,055> 1.98 (thitung> ttabel), the value of student learning outcomes of a significance level of 0.05 obtained sig value is 5.965> 1.98 (thitung> ttabel). Based on two variables measured show that the implementation of the inquiry strategy there are differences between the science process skills and student learning outcomes in the material growth and development in plants at SMA and MA Negeri KembangTanjong, Pidie Regency.

This study aims to determine the effect of the Process Oriented Guided  Inquiry Learning (POGIL) model on Science Process Skills (SPS), cognitive abilities and the correlation between SPS and students' cognitive abilities on the reaction rate concept. The sample in this study were 35 students of class XI SMA Negeri Seribu Bukit 2016/2017 academic year. The data was collected through observation and test. 20 multiple choice questions (alpha=0.81) were used to collect data of student’s SPS. While students' cognitive abilities were obtained by pre-test and post-test using 20 multiple choice questions (alpha=0.84). The distributed normally and homogeneously. The hypothesis was tested by using Paired Sample t-Test at a significance level of 0.05. Based on the data analysis and hypothesis testing carried out, there was a significant difference in the effect of the POGIL model on Science Process Skills (SPS), cognitive abilities and significant interactions between SPS and students' cognitive abilities on the material reaction rate, indicated by the value of each probability or sig. 0,000 0.05, so it can be concluded that the results of testing the hypothesis reject Ho or accept Ha at the 5% alpha level.

Curriculum 2013 requires a paradigm shift in the teachers manage learning, including assessment. Research on the implementation of integrated science instruction assessmentis an attempt to overcome the problems in science learning assessment in Junior High School. Rate the former tend to simply measure cognitive ability, so that teachers rarely pay attention to ratings on science process skills of students and social attitudes. This research aims to; (1) produce integrated science assessment practical instruction through the feasibility test in science learning class (2) to get the measure of science process skills and social attitudes of learners using instruments developed. This research is a development that adapt the model Borg and Gall (1983). Aiken's Formula V is used to analyze the instrument by the validator. This research resulted in: (1) integrated science instruction assessment practical through feasibility testing in the classroom science lessons with the following characteristics: (a) the observation sheet form checklist used by teachers to observe the science process skills of learners is only at the stage of observing, measuring, inferring, classifying, predicting, communicating as well as observing the social attitude on stage mental and neural state, of readiness to respond, organized, through experience, and  exerting a directive  (b) science process skills is not observed from the behavior of learners assessed by working the worksheet (c) the self-assessment of social attitudes among learners friends used only at the stage of evaluate; (2) the instrument has been developed fit for use because it meets the content validity by experts and reliability was good value. (3) Results of measurement using observation sheet science process skills get a very good category and the results of measuring social attitude of learners using observation sheets, self-assessment and peer assessment obtained either category on aspects of mental and neural state, of readiness to respond, organized, through experience, and  exerting a directive .
