Abstract Transmission lines inevitably cross railroads, highways, and other facilities, and in order to ensure the safety and reliability of the cross-crossing section, the influence of various random factors on important cross-crossing transmission lines needs to be fully considered. In this paper, the transmission line crossing section is treated as a tandem system according to the force transmission route, and the reliability calculation method of the cross-crossing transmission line system based on the tandem system is proposed. The reliability calculation method of each component and the reliability calculation method of the tandem system are given. Finally, an example of the reliability calculation of a 220kV cross-crossing transmission line system is given, and the results show that the cross-crossing section has the highest reliability of tower FSJ404, with a reliability index of 8.61, the second highest reliability of insulators, with a reliability index of 7.22, and the lowest reliability of tower FSJ302, with a reliability index of 4.28. The failure probability of the cross-crossing section is 0.000009245, and the reliability index is 4.28.

<span lang="EN-US">This paper presents a fast and accurate fault detection, classification and direction discrimination algorithm of transmission lines using one-dimensional convolutional neural networks (1D-CNNs) that have ingrained adaptive model to avoid the feature extraction difficulties and fault classification into one learning algorithm. A proposed algorithm is directly usable with raw data and this deletes the need of a discrete feature extraction method resulting in more effective protective system. The proposed approach based on the three-phase voltages and currents signals of one end at the relay location in the transmission line system are taken as input to the proposed 1D-CNN algorithm. A 132kV power transmission line is simulated by Matlab simulink to prepare the training and testing data for the proposed 1D- CNN algorithm. The testing accuracy of the proposed algorithm is compared with other two conventional methods which are neural network and fuzzy neural network. The results of test explain that the new proposed detection system is efficient and fast for classifying and direction discrimination of fault in transmission line with high accuracy as compared with other conventional methods under various conditions of faults.</span>

The overload degree of a transmission line is represented by currents in traditional overload protection, which cannot reflect its safety condition accurately. The sudden rise in transmission line current may lead to cascading tripping under traditional protection during power flow transfer in a power system. Therefore, timely and accurate analysis of the transient temperature rise of overhead transmission lines, revealing their overload endurance capability under the premise of ensuring safety, and coordination with power system controls can effectively eliminate overloading. This paper presents a transient temperature calculation method for overhead transmission lines based on an equivalent thermal network. This method can fully consider the temperature-dependent characteristics with material properties, convective heat resistance, and radiation heat and can accurately calculate the gradient distribution and response of the conductor cross-section temperature. The validity and accuracy of the proposed calculation method are verified by a test platform. In addition, a multi-parameter thermal protection strategy is proposed on the basis of the abovementioned calculation method. The protection can adequately explore the maximum overload capability of the line, and prevent from unnecessary tripping to avoid the expansion of accidents. Finally, the validity of the proposed protection is verified by the modified 29-bus system.

Nonlinear seismic behaviors of different boundary conditions of transmission line system under earthquake loading are investigated in this paper. The transmission lines are modeled by cable element accounting for the nonlinearity of the cable. For the suspension type, three towers and two span lines with spring model (Model 1) and three towers and four span lines’ model (Model 2) are established, respectively. For the tension type, three towers and two span lines’ model (Model 3) and three towers and four span lines’ model (Model 4) are created, respectively. The frequencies of the transmission towers and transmission lines of the suspension type and tension type are calculated, respectively. The responses of the suspension type and tension type are investigated using nonlinear time history analysis method, respectively. The results show that the responses of the transmission tower and transmission line of the two models of the suspension type are slightly different. However, the responses of transmission tower and transmission line of the two models of the tension type are significantly different. Therefore, in order to obtain accurate results, a reasonable model should be considered. The results could provide a reference for the seismic analysis of the transmission tower-line system.

This paper deals with the performance evaluation of cross-differential protection applied to double-circuit transmission lines which share the same tower, considering the occurrence of inter-circuit faults. Aiming to do so, sensitivity and transient analysis were carried out on a 300 km double-circuit transmission line with 500 kV of rating voltage, modeled on Alternative Transients Program (ATP). By the analysis of the obtained results, the cross-differential protection function is able to detect faults between two different phases of the two existent circuits and has a high instantaneous coverage for such type of fault.

When the human to transmission line repair, many potential risks and fault will cannot be found in time, resulting in not by prior treatment measures to ensure the safety and reliability of the power supply. To realize the state overhaul transmission line, can reduce the blindness of maintenance, improve the transmission line operation stability and save a lot of manpower material resources. Transmission line state repair work there are many difficulties, so in the state overhaul transmission line, on the basis of elaborating the transmission line design condition maintenance expert system, in order to improve the transmission lines the state overhaul of work efficiency.

In the present paper we consider a lossy transmission line terminated by a circuit corresponding to a Schottky diode. On the base of Kirchhoff’s law boundary conditions are derived. Then a mixed problem for the lossy transmission line system is formulated. We reduce the mixed problem for the hyperbolic transmission line system to an initial value problem for a system of differential equations with delays on the boundary. We prove existence-uniqueness theorem for oscillatory solution. The paper ends with numerical example with real values of the Schottky diode parameters.

The problems of Electromagnetic Interference in Airborne Intelligence Radar Stations near the AC UHV Transmission Lines are researched in this paper, which is mainly active interference. The calculation method for the interferences is analysed, and then the proper protection distances of the AC UHV transmission line to the radar station are given. The paper analyzed the active interference of AC UHV transmission lines, and focuses on the active interference caused by the line corona on the active radar of nearby airborne intelligence when the transmission line is under normal operation. In the end, this paper proposes the recommended values of active interference protection distance for 1000kV AC UHV transmission lines and airborne intelligence radar stations.

This paper is devoted to describe how surge magnitudes are calculated and how do we use this data in order to determine the ageing of insulation on the transmission line poles so that we can replace the insulation in pre fault time, based on its condition. The main object of this report is to design algorithm of implementation of SCADA in the transmission line system to identify insulation ageing factor. In order to identify the magnitude of voltage due to direct lightning source, we have some formulae which provides the approximate value. For the magnitude value due to indirect lightning strokes, we use two methods namely RBF-FDTD method which uses artificial neural network function in order to study the detailed concept of coupling between field to transmission lines and the other method is the modelling of simulation system in which the coupling system approximations are taken. This paper also describes about the calculation of outage rate and its Geometrical analysis.
