Abstract The use of smartphones and some applications for educational purposes are valuable tools in the laboratory since they are motivating for students and the teacher can take advantage of this advantage for the teaching of physics. The experience is based on the anthropological theory of didactics and the teaching approach in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It is proposed to investigate a trigger question in physics. To respond, an application is used that uses the smartphone’s sensors to record the simulation data. The experience is described, and results of its implementation are presented. Methodologically, a qualitative descriptive approach was used in a group of tenth grade students taking the physics course. Finally, it is concluded that the students felt motivated since they felt they participated in the construction of their own learning, supported using technologies that facilitate the integration of knowledge in physics.

STEM is the process of integrating science, technology, engineering and mathematics in education. STEAM differs from STEM by a letter of ‘A’ which means arts, on the basic logic of science and arts mustn’t be decomposed from each other. This research aimed to assist tenth-grade students in learning through their own constructed materials for bringing up them as well-qualified individuals by using chemistry, technology, engineering, popart and mathematics (STEAM) integration which would improve their creativity and critical-thinking too. 33 tenth-grade students from a high school in Turkey participated in this qualitative research in 2015-2016 academic year. Student constructed materials, and student process evaluation worksheets were used as data collecting tools. Content analysis was utilized for the gathered data. Content analysis was cross-checked for the reliability of the research too. The results showed that students’ creativity and critical-thinking skills were enhanced through such a STEAM process, and this process was also helped to educate well-qualified individuals in the abovementioned fields. Keywords: chemistry education, critical thinking, educating well-qualified individuals, STEAM.

STEM has long been developed to produce a generation who is ready to face the challenges of the future era. STEM combines four elements (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in a learning process to make it more meaningful. STEM has been widely applied in developed countries, but in Indonesia, it has received less attention and has not been implemented in the education curriculum. The purpose of this study is to describe teachers' perceptions about the application of STEM, whether it is suitable to be applied in each school where the teacher works, what facilities are needed, and whether it is suitable to be applied during the pandemic Covid-19. This research method used a qualitative descriptive method by distributing open questionnaires to mathematics teachers from various regions. The results showed that most teachers agreed to use STEM in learning mathematics, including its application during the pandemic Covid-19. Besides, many things must be prepared before it can be applied, including the readiness and understanding of teachers regarding STEM, the availability of STEM teaching materials, and the availability of supporting facilities for each student and their ability to use them.

AbstractIn this paper, we present results of an inquiry based teaching implementation carried out on a teacher training course in the University. The framework of the Anthropological Theory of Didactics (ATD) is adopted, and a co-disciplinary Study and Research Path (SRP) whose generative question requires studying physics and mathematics together is carried out by N=25 training teachers of Mathematics at University. Some conclusions concerning the conditions, restrictions and relevance of introducing the RSC in teachers training courses at the university are performed.

This study discusses how students think about vector material through PBL (Problem Based Learning) models using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The method used in this study uses qualitative descriptive research. The subjects of this study were students of grade X MIPA 4 SMA Negeri 2 Jember with a total of 35 students. The instruments of collecting data in this study consisted of student worksheets and questionnaires to measure students' creative thinking skills. Student worksheets are provided using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) which have been adapted to the 2013 curriculum that directs students to be actively involved in learning activities. fluency, flexibility, elaboration and originality which contains 6 indicators. The results of the questionnaire data were analyzed based on its indicators, namely for the first indicator getting a percentage of creative thinking skills by 74%, the second indicator by 78%, the third indicator by 74%, the percentage indicator by 69%, the percentage indicator by 74%, and for the sixth indicator by 70% . The number of students who reached the criteria was quite creative there were 33 students with a percentage of 94%. Based on the results of data analysis obtained, students think a high percentage. The PBL (Problem Based Learning) model using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) on vector material has good implications and supports an effective and enjoyable learning process for students.

A word or phrase (a combination of words) that is used as a name or symbol and which accurately expresses the meaning of a concept, process, state, or characteristic that is unique in a particular field such as science, technology, art and so on. This study aims to describe the characteristic patterns of various linguistic terms during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach in which this study does not use numbers but in the form of words to describe the results of the study. The technique used in this study is to use observation and data collection techniques. The results showed that there were 36 data on the pattern of the Covid-19 language terms which were analyzed and then classified into 14 data in the form of English, 8 data in the form of synonyms, 3 data in the form of English abbreviations, 4 data in the form of Indonesian abbreviations and 6 data in acronym form. The implication of this research is that many people use foreign terms such as corona virus, social distancing, physical distancing, and new normal. Therefore, it is necessary for the role of every citizen, government and media during a pandemic to use the Indonesian language in order to protect the sovereignty of the nation. Keywords: language terms, Covid-19

Abstract. Women have a minority position within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and, consequently, are likely to face more adversities at work. This diary study takes a look at a facilitating factor for women’s research performance within academia: daily work engagement. We examined the moderating effect of gender on the relationship between two behaviors (i.e., daily networking and time control) and daily work engagement, as well as its effect on the relationship between daily work engagement and performance measures (i.e., number of publications). Results suggest that daily networking and time control cultivate men’s work engagement, but daily work engagement is beneficial for the number of publications of women. The findings highlight the importance of work engagement in facilitating the performance of women in minority positions.
