Concrete structure will be corroded under acid rain scouring and soaking for a long time, which has a great influence on its durability life. In order to further study the damage characteristics of fiber reinforced concrete under acid rain erosion, the formation mechanism of acid rain and its influence on the corrosion and deterioration of concrete and fiber materials were analyzed in this paper. Taking basalt fiber concrete as an example, the characteristics such as porosity, compressive strength and mechanical indexes were studied and analyzed. Moreover, the reasons for the optimal fiber content was briefly analyzed. The results show that the inner structure of basalt concrete mixed with 0.1% fiber was the most stable and the corrosion resistance was the most satisfying. This conclusion has certain reference significance for the corrosion damage research of fiber reinforced concrete.

Regional confined concrete is base on confined concrete. It is the theory and application of a new attempt and development on confined concrete. To apply it to the actual project, we need to research mechanical properties and establish constitutive relationship of regional confined concrete. According to the research, we had carried on a series of tests, founded the stress-strain constitutive model of regional confined concrete under single axial press. The accuracy of theoretical analysis were more fully verified , and a theoretical basis for the application was provided.

Acid rain as an important environmental issue has a negative impact on bitumen performance, thereby shortening the service life of asphalt pavements. Thus, this research aims to investigate the response of bitumen to acid rain and its deterioration mechanism. For this purpose, the simulated acid rain was prepared to erode neat bitumen and short-term aged bitumen. The hydrogen ion concentration of the acid rain, and the morphological, physical, chemical, and rheological properties of the bitumen were evaluated by means of a pH meter, scanning electron microscopy, physical tests, Fourier transform infrared radiation with attenuated total reflectance, and dynamic shear rheometer. The results showed that bitumen properties were severely affected by acid rain, and the changes in bitumen properties were highly related to the erosion time, leading to a reduction in pH value by 0.2 of residual acid rain, rougher bitumen surface, and stiffer bitumen with more oxygen-containing functional groups and fewer carbonyl acid groups (around 10% decrement) after 90 days erosion. These changes contributed to two deterioration mechanisms: oxidation and dissolution of carbonyl acid. Oxidation and dissolution are, respectively, the dominant actions for neat bitumen and aged bitumen during the erosion process, which eventually leads to various responses to acid rain.

In this paper, a total of 60 concrete cylinders 30 cm in diameter and 60 cm in length confined by steel jackets of different thicknesses and different types of lateral steel reinforcements are tested to obtain the stress–strain curves of the cylinders. A constitutive model is proposed to describe the behavior of concrete confined by steel reinforcement, steel jackets, and both steel reinforcement and steel jackets used to retrofit and strengthen reinforced concrete structures. The confined concrete stress–strain curve of the proposed model is divided into two regions: the curve in the first region is approximated using a second-order polynomial equation, and that in the second region using an nth-order power-law equation, where n is a function of the unconfined concrete strength and the lateral confining stress. The results of the experiments show that different types of lateral steel reinforcement contribute greatly to the compressive strength of concrete cylinders confined by the reinforcement. Comparing the stress–strain curves of the uniaxial test with that from the proposed model, we conclude that the proposed model for concrete confined by a steel jacket and lateral steel reinforcement can predict the experimental results very well.Key words: constitutive model, steel jacket, confined concrete.
