It is a great honor for us, Faculty of Forestry of Hasanuddin University, to host the 2nd Biennial Conference of Tropical Biodiversity 2021 (BCTB) 2021 on August 4th - 5th, 2021, in Makassar City of South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. This conference is a series of international scientific seminars held by the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Hasanuddin, Makassar, Indonesia, held biennially since 2018. In addition, The proceedings of BCTB have been published in the IOP conference series: Earth and Environmental Science (EES). Biodiversity is evenly distributed and varies widely across the world and within regions, the diversity of which is highly dependent on environmental factors such as temperature, rainfall, altitude, soil geography, and the presence of other species. Biodiversity is also essential in supporting ecosystem services, including air quality, climate, carbon dioxide absorption, water purification, pollination, and erosion prevention. Rapid environmental changes have led to many mass extinctions of species. Therefore, protecting its existence has become one of the most significant challenges humanity has to face. The Biennial Conference of Tropical Biodiversity is a scientific forum to enhance science and technology, together with researchers, scientists, practitioners, and scholars to anticipate the impacts of climate change in biodiversity. This is also conducted to promote Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Hence, this conference chose an SDGs-related theme, namely “Managing Challenges in Biodiversity Conservation During The Pandemic to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals for Better Environment” with six sub-themes: 1. Assessment of global biodiversity: the impact of a pandemic to biodiversity. 2. The existence of genetic diversity to maintain biodiversity. 3. Community partnership for biodiversity conservation. 4. Biodiversity and utilization. 5. The conservation of tropical biodiversity: current challenges for the management. 6. Ecological risk and natural disaster. The Biennial Conference of Tropical Biodiversity will be held every two years. The first was in 2018, and the second should be in 2019. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the conference was postponed to be this year (2021). Hence, the conference model has performed with a virtual conference instead of a live meeting. This conference presents keynote speakers from 5 countries, namely Prof. Enrico Bonello from Ohio State University, USA, Dr. Doan Nainggolan from Aarhus University-Denmark, Prof. Erin P. Riley from San Diego State University-USA, Dr. Ida Ayu Pradnya Resosudarmo from Australian National University-Australia, and Prof. Supratman from Hasanuddin University-Indonesia. The plenary session and discussion for all speakers were for 3 hours. Participant presentations (oral and video presentations) were held in 3 sessions, and each session was divided into ten rooms. The number of participants per room was 15-20 participants with an allocation of presentations for 5 minutes/participant conducted in parallel as many as three parallel sessions. Discussions sessions were held in parallel in each parallel session with an allocation of 3 minutes per participant. The Virtual BCTB conference implementation applied the zoom meeting application provided by the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Hasanuddin. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) into International School Curriculum, and to adapt Education for Sustainable Development using Ajzen’s theory of planned behaviour, Roger’s diffusion of innovation theory and Stern’s value belief norm (VBN) theory to nurture a sustainable society. The study narrowed five development goals; Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Climate Change (SDG 13) and Life on Land (SDG 15) to evaluate the impact towards international school’s curriculum in order to nurture a sustainable society. Data was collected from 105 teachers from 5149 full time teachers in International Schools in Malaysia. The questionnaire focusses on indicators from Sustainable Development Goals and funnelled down to understand whether these indicators will impact the objective of these research, which is to nurture a sustainable society through integrating SDGs in International School Curriculum. The data was analyzed through SPSS application where correlation test were conducted and produce nonparametric correlation results in p<0.001 which indicate a very high significant of relationship between SDGs and sustainable society.

This study analyses the impact of Spanish financial institutions’ risk profile on their contribution to the 2030 Agenda. Financial institutions play a significant role in ensuring financial inclusion and sustainable economic growth and usually incorporate environmental and social considerations into their risk management systems. The results show that financial institutions with less capital risk, with lower management efficiency and with higher market risk usually make higher contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), according to their sustainability reports. The novel aspect of the present study is that it identifies the risk profile of financial institutions that incorporate sustainability into their business operations and measure the impact generated in the environment and in society. The study findings have important implications for shareholders, investors and analysts, according to the view that sustainability reporting is a vehicle that financial institutions use to express their commitment to the 2030 Agenda and to higher quality corporate reporting.

Abstract The Global Burden of Disease is the most comprehensive effort to date to measure epidemiological levels and trends worldwide. It is the product of a global research collaborative and quantifies the impact of hundreds of diseases, injuries, and risk factors in countries around the world. The publication published in The Lancet on September 12, 2017, namely the study, “Measuring progress and projecting attainment on the basis of past trends of the health-related Sustainable Development Goals in 188 countries: an analysis from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2016,” is the starting point to discuss the health-related SDG indicators as develop by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) and Global Burden of Disease collaborators. The projected increases in mortality are steep for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other chronic diseases. Non-communicable diseases are increasingly recognized as major causes of death and disability worldwide. The question is whether the targets in the SDGs are sufficiently addressing these increases. Or are demographic changes underlying the projected increases? Health related SDGs have been addressed in a tool made by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME). Results on air pollution, smoking, unsafe water, sanitation and hygiene are presented by current and projected data in an interactive tool.

Представлены основные направления для поиска путей улучшения рейтинга Российской Федерации в международных статистических сопоставлениях в сфере электросвязи/ИКТ с учетом необходимости гармонизации разнообразных направлений деятельности, связанных с оценкой влияния электросвязи/ИКТ на достижение Целей устойчивого развития, а также с появлением Нового индекса Международного союза электросвязи (МСЭ) взамен Индекса развития ИКТ(IDI). OThe main directions for finding ways to improve the rating of the Russian Federation in international statistical comparisons in the field of telecommunications/ICT are presented, taking into account the need to harmonize various activities related to assessing the impact of telecommunications/ICTs on achieving the sustainable development goals, as well as the advent of the new International Telecommunication Union Index instead of the ICT Development Index (IDI).

The purpose of the article is to assess the impact of existing legislative initiatives in the field of agricultural land turnover on the possibility of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Ukraine and the implementation of land management based on an inclusive model of sustainable rural development. Research methods. The following methods were used: dialectical methods of cognition of processes and phenomena; empirical method (based on a comprehensive assessment of the current state of regulation of land relations in agriculture); comparative analysis method; abstract-logical (theoretical generalizations and formulation of conclusions). Research results. Established in the process of analysis of laws and bills on land reform and regulation of market circulation of agricultural land, adopted and registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during 2020 - the first half of 2021, their impact on the level of viability and competitiveness of individuals, farmers, family farms, small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises in the new legal and economic conditions. Scientific novelty. The influence of individual legislative initiatives in the field of agricultural land turnover on the possibility of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Ukraine and the introduction of land management based on an inclusive model of sustainable rural development has been determined. Practical significance. The calculation of the amount of the minimum tax liability (MTL) for each region of Ukraine, taking into account the normative monetary value of the arable land, was carried out and its impact on the economic situation of small and medium-sized agricultural producers was assessed. Efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have resulted in enhancement of the position of microalgae in feedstocks for food, feed, healthcare, and biofuels. However, stabile microalgal biorefineries require a sustainable and reliable management system of microalgae, which are sensitive to environmental changes. To expand microalgal applicability, assessment and maintenance of microalgal quality are crucial. Compared with conventional methods, including hemocytometry and turbidity, an automated- and image-based cell counter contributes to the establishment of routine management of microalgae with reduced work burden. This review presents the principle of an automated cell counter and highlights the functional capacities of the device for microalgal management. The method utilizing fluorescence function to evaluate the chlorophyll integrity of microalgae may lay the groundwork for making a large variety of microalgal biorefineries, creating an important step toward achieving SDGs.
