Abstract Achieving energy efficiency is a very important step of applying the concepts of sustainability, this will reduce the financial costs that coming from energy consumption for the purposes of operating HVAC system so this concept will give a great effect on the environment and the economic aspects. Bank buildings are represented of the financial strength of the country, as they have a strong and direct impact on the reality of society and urban reality, and these buildings often consume a large amount of energy for cooling and heating purposes in the hot and dry climate of Iraq, so the research problem is focus on the knowledge deficiency of the importance of the role of technologies of sustainability in advancing the banking work at the design and performance level. Therefore, the aim of research was to find the knowledge aspects of designing the external envelope of the banking building in a sustainable manner that contributes to achieving energy efficiency and reducing the negative impact of banking buildings on the environment, as a result technique of sustainability and technological developments have led to the change and innovation in designing an advanced environment in banking buildings, such as achieving communication in the work environment in addition to providing comfort to the occupants in it, and this will lead to improved performance and production.

The increasing importance of the information revolution and terms such as ‘speed’, ‘disorientation’, and ‘changing the concept of distance’, has provided us with tools that had not been previously available. Technological developments are moving toward Fluidity, which was previously unknown and cannot be understood through modern tools. With acceleration of the rhythm in the age we live in and the clarity of the role of information technology in our lives, as also the ease of access to information, has helped us to overcome many difficulties. Technology in all its forms has had a clear impact on all areas of daily life, and it has a clear impact on human thought in general, and the architectural space in particular, where the architecture moves from narrow spaces and is limited to new spaces known as the ‘breadth’, and forms of unlimited and stability to spaces characterized with fluidity. The research problem (the lack of clarity of knowledge about the impact of vast information flow associated with the technology of the age in the occurrence of liquidity in contemporary architectural space) is presented here. The research aims at defining fluidity and clarifying the effect of information technology on the changing characteristics of architectural space from solidity to fluidity. The research follows the analytical approach in tracking the concept of fluidity in physics and sociology to define this concept and then to explain the effect of Information Technology (IT) to achieve the fluidity of contemporary architectural space, leading to an analysis of the Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) architectural model. The research concludes that information technology achieves fluidity through various tools (communication systems, computers, automation, and artificial intelligence). It has changed the characteristics of contemporary architectural space and made it behave like an organism, through using smart material.

AbstractThe Republic of Serbia must make significant efforts to promote and exploit renewable energy sources and increase energy efficiency in all energy sectors to ensure energy security and economic competitiveness, reduce the negative impact on the environment from energy production and use, and contribute to global efforts to reduce greenhouse gases. Within the paper several issues of integration of recently realized CHP plant are introduced and discussed. Firstly, the legal and energy policy issues in the Republic of Serbia regarding connecting CHP to the grid are presented. The challenges and technical solutions for CHP connection to the grid, as well as power quality issues and the role of the CHP plant during the restoration of power supply during the maintenance of the substation and unplanned loss of high voltage supply, are presented and discussed. Finally, the impact of prospective massive integration of CHP on the energy balance and CO2 emission reduction in the province of Vojvodina in Serbia is investigated and discussed. Since it is the first CHP plant realized in Serbia, it is crucial that experience be shared to all potential stakeholders in the future energy efficiency projects.

Previous research on professional football offer conflicting results regarding the impact of wage dispersion on team performance. However, the existing intra-league heterogeneity among clubs is overlooked and could be the reason for the diverging outcomes. The aim of this paper is to reanalyze this relationship having the clubs’ size as moderator. Payroll – which captures the financial strength – is used as proxy of club size. Ordinary Least Squares regressions with season and league fixed effects are employed. Dispersion is measured by three indexes for robustness check. The outputs confirm the quadratic relationship between wage dispersion and performance, but adding that identical levels of dispersion have different impact on football clubs according to their financial strength.

Modern electronic devices are an indispensable part of our everyday life. A major enabler for such integration is the exponential increase of the computation capabilities as well as the drastic improvement in the energy efficiency over the last 50 years, commonly known as Moore’s law. In this regard, the demand for energy-efficient digital circuits, especially for application domains such as the Internet of Things (IoT), has faced an enormous growth. Since the power consumption of a circuit highly depends on the supply voltage, aggressive supply voltage scaling to the near-threshold voltage region, also known as Near-Threshold Computing (NTC), is an effective way of increasing the energy efficiency of a circuit by an order of magnitude. However, NTC comes with specific challenges with respect to performance and reliability, which mandates new sets of design techniques to fully harness its potential. While techniques merely focused at one abstraction level, in particular circuit-level design, can have limited benefits, cross-layer approaches result in far better optimizations. This paper presents instruction multi-cycling and functional unit partitioning methods to improve energy efficiency and resiliency of functional units. The proposed methods significantly improve the circuit timing, and at the same time considerably limit leakage energy, by employing a combination of cross-layer techniques based on circuit redesign and code replacement techniques. Simulation results show that the proposed methods improve performance and energy efficiency of an Arithmetic Logic Unit by 19% and 43%, respectively. Furthermore, the improved performance of the optimized circuits can be traded to improving the reliability.

This article examines the impact of tourism development on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries by particularly exploring the role of energy markets in the environment–tourism relation. We find that tourism growth raises more CO2 emissions in the future, and that greater CO2 emissions return a lagged and negative impact on tourism development. Our empirical results suggest that an improvement in energy efficiency simultaneously benefits the sustainability of both tourism development and the environment.

Purpose The goal of this work was to better understand speech perception for cochlear implant (CI) users with bilateral residual hearing, including consideration of effects related to listening conditions and test measures. Of interest was the role of acoustic hearing for speech perception in a complex background, the role of listening experience for CI-alone conditions, and whether performance with electric-acoustic stimulation (EAS) was improved by a contralateral hearing aid (HA). Method Eleven subjects provided data on Consonant-Nucleus-Consonant (CNC; Peterson & Lehiste, 1962) words in quiet, City University of New York (CUNY; Boothroyd, Hanin, & Hnath, 1985) sentences in steady noise, and Bamford-Kowal-Bench (Bench, Kowal, & Bamford, 1979) sentences in multitalker babble. Listening conditions included: CI with a full-frequency map, CI with a truncated-frequency map, EAS, and EAS+HA (EAS plus contralateral HA). Sounds were presented at 0° azimuth. Results For CNC words and CUNY sentences, performance was better with the truncated-frequency than the full-frequency map, and performance with EAS was better than for either CI-alone condition. For Bench-Kowal-Bamford sentences, EAS+HA was better than EAS. Conclusions As demonstrated previously, performance was better in the EAS condition than either CI-alone condition. Better performance in the truncated-frequency than full-frequency CI-alone condition suggests that listening experience may be important. A contralateral HA improved performance over unilateral EAS under some conditions.

Small and midsize businesses are a number of restrictions on the market where they compete , they are caused by lack of resources or integration difficulties . For the company to develop and market in which it operates , highlights the role of the executive in the strategic process . This research investigation aims check for alignment between executive style and strategies and the impact of the performance of small and medium industries Mossley / RN . Methodologically , it is a descriptive study with data collection by surveying a structured and self-administered questionnaire , adapted from Håkonsson et al (2012 ) model was developed . Closed questions were asked , using Likert 5-point scale . The assumptions of the model were tested by Mann- Whitney test. It was found that the vast majority of companies presents a misalignment between the styles of business and enterprise strategy , the main type of misalignment : Style manager - analytical strategy . The general hypothesis , that the alignment between cognitive style and enterprise strategy leads to improved performance has been confirmed . The results corroborate the results obtained by Håkonsson et al (2012 ).

This study examines how to improve outsourcing employees’ performance through workload and work discipline using job satisfaction as intervening variable. As many as 43 outsourcing workers at PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Jember are involved as samples. The sampling techniques used is census because it uses entire population as samples. This study used quantitative data through the distribution of questionnaires. Path analysis is performed for the purpose of this study. The results exhibit significant direct negative impact of workload on employee’s job satisfaction and performance, significant direct positive impact of work discipline on employee’s job satisfaction and performance, and significant direct positive and significant effect of job satisfaction on employees’ performance. The results also found significant indirect effects of workload and discipline on employee performance with job satisfaction as intervening variable but the magnitude is weaker than its direct effect.

Communication is the base to the smooth functioning of organizations and which plays a vital role in maintaining and developing organizations. The growth of an organization is seen through workplace efficiency which is dependent on employee wellbeing. Employee wellbeing affects how employees think and feel about their job and organization in turn which would positively or negatively influence their attitude and performance. Supervisor’s communication can greatly influence the employee’s workplace efficiency. This paper focuses on analyzing the role of supervisor’s communication in employee wellbeing and employee engagement. It identifies the main factors that affect employee wellbeing in the organization. It is evident from the research that organizations need to focus on improving the supervisor’s communication which will enhance employee wellbeing and employee engagement and result into positive attitude and improved performance on the job.

Purpose This paper aims to explore the complex relationships between knowledge strategies (i.e. exploration and exploitation) and the performance of manufacturing SMEs by testing the mediating role of customer relationship management capabilities, which are defined as a firm’s level of interaction orientation in this study. Design/methodology/approach Following a hypothetical deductive approach and using data collected from 793 French manufacturing SMEs, the measurement model and relationships among the constructs were examined with structural equation modelling, using the partial least squares approach. Findings The results support the expected mediating role of interaction orientation between exploitation and performance, and stress a competitive mediating role between exploration and performance. Complementary analyses demonstrate that while both exploration and exploitation are effectively antecedents of interaction orientation, which also acts as a lever to performance, they exhibit specific effects on the different dimensions of interaction orientation. Originality/value The results specifically highlight that interaction orientation counterbalances the negative impact of exploration on performance. Moreover, the findings underline the key role that customer interaction processes and tools play in making exploration and exploitation singularly effective. This is a real issue, as SMEs broadly tend to adopt opportunistic tools, not necessarily as part of a clearly defined strategic focus.
