This paper was carried out with an aim to use a modified knowledge management model, that could provide a knowledge management tool that would ensure decreased downtimes, error rates and could enhance knowledge transfer for a company. This research involved quantitative assessment in measuring knowledge management success by using designed methodologies accompanied by data collection from the quality control department. The results of this research were the measurement of the knowledge management tool success.

The Quality Control (QC) Department in a grease plant is vital to product compliance and customer satisfaction. QC provides the initial inspection of raw materials and finished goods which determines whether the material is acceptable for manufacture or sale. In other words, the QC department is the gateway to customer satisfaction and future accounts. In order to have a successful QC department, the following key factors must be met: properly trained personnel, suitable inspection equipment and a functioning management system. If these three factors are established and continually improved, the QC Department will be effective.

In that logical decision, controls is of two types and are microcontroller and PLC (programmable logical control) .PLC based and microcontroller control based systems are used for automation process for in industries. Since automation is very important for an industry to reduce human effort this project is been developed .In this project a system is been implemented for automated work piece counting and rejection that works using microcontroller linked with image processing concept. These kinds of system are mainly used in Quality Control department to remove scraps. This system is built using Arduino controller and the basic concepts of image processing using MATLAB .The rejected materials are collected in separate bins and are removed as scraps.

PT. Cresco Indonesia is one of the companies that concerned in the Japanese slipper sandals industry in West Java, which was established in 1989. In order to responses to demanding costumer, PT. Cresco Indonesia applies ‘make to order’ strategy, so the production process will be carried out if there are any orders from consumers. The company has 13 departments. Based on observations has known that there are 4 departments that have a potential to cause an accidents work, they are the happo department, the shiage department, the quality control department and the packing department. The beginning measurements of RULA and REBA out of four departments show the results of high risk action levels. To improve the situation, work system improvements must be made. This study intends to improve the body's posture and work system currently, so that the design of tools for the movement of baskets in the shiage and quality control departments, grouping and labeling in baskets in the happo department as well as improve the order of the process of lifting goods in the packing department. Work system improvement is carried out using biomechanics theory. The final result of the design shows the value of RULA and REBA of operators is low risk, minimizes the value of defects in the happo department, reduces the activities of finding baskets in the happo department, minimizes the time of movement from the shiage department to the quality control department, improves the way of lifting goods in the packing department and fix up the posture of the operators

This research aims to manage the amount of defective packaging of capsule products in the department of capsule product at PT SM. It is important because the number of defective packaging of capsule products is high and exceeds the limits of maximum, i.e. 5% of the total production. In addition, the defective packaging of capsule products cannot be reworked and will cause losses in terms of time and finances. This research uses the Six Sigma method to find out the capabilities of the production process from the defective packaging of capsule products. Application of the method of Six Sigma through DMAIC process to eliminate the number of defective products and Fishbone diagram is used to identify the cause of the defect and provide recommendations on improvements to the production process. The data for this research is the amount of production, defective packaging of capsule products and interviews with the department of quality control, department of capsule product and operator. Data processing using Six Sigma methods showed that the value of sigma is 3.41σ with the number of DPMO is 27,951.202. Using Fishbone diagram, there are 9 causes of the defective packaging of capsule products.

PT. PQR produces casting for automotive products. Based on data from the Quality Control department, there are several products with high defect levels and most of defect products are categorized as scrap that make the company's efficiency decrease. This condition is very detrimental to the company because it will add costs that should not be spent. Therefore, this research is conducted on the causes of defects for finding the solutions. The results of the observation showed that the data during January - March 2017 knuckle arm steering products had a defect rate of 20.04% with macro shrinkage as the biggest contributor. In March-July 2017 improvements were made with the concept of lean manufacturing with the PDCA method. The results of these improvements provide improved quality of knuckle arm steering products so that defects are reduced by 15.01% to 5.03%. Then the cost incurred before improvement is Rp. 2,626,160 and after improvement is Rp 2,224,890

Since January 1997 manufacturers of cosmetics products have to follow GMP guidelines. The manufacturer is required to supply extensive product information, comprehensive and exact production guidelines, analytical controls and detailed raw material data. As a result it is strongly recommended to each manufacturer of cosmetic products to install a quality control department. Regulations already accepted and applied in the Pharmaceutical Industry are expected to become more and more important for the cosmetic industry as well. In order to meet legal requirements the cosmetic industry will be forced to instigate a periodical quality control. To accommodate this protocol each container must be checked to see if the content corresponds to the description on the packaging material. A fast and reliable technology is necessary to fulfil these demands! Near-Infrared (NIR) technology plays an increasingly important role in manufacturing as industry strives to improve quality and process efficiency while reducing costs. By controlling the identity of every raw material container, rather than just a small number of samples, a significantly processing benefit will be assured.
