Abstract Objectives To develop a valid and reliable scale to assess dental health-related nutrition attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of low-income women. Methods A Dental Nutrition Attitudes, Beliefs, and Behaviors Scale was developed based on the results of a literature review of foods that affect prevalence and severity of periodontal disease. It was tested in 150 low-income women, ages 18–50 years, from the Central Texas Area. The validity of the initial scale was assessed via content validity from a panel of ten nutrition experts, and readability by six low-income women. Construct validity was determined via Exploratory Factor Analysis; internal consistency of the scale was measured by calculation of Cronbach's alpha. The final version of the scale consisted of 21-items divided into three subscales: attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. Results Content and construct validity resulted in elimination of fourteen questions from the initial 35-item scale to create a 21-item instrument. The internal consistency for the final Dental Nutrition Attitudes, Beliefs, and Behaviors Scale was 0.802, as measured by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Exploratory factor analysis using varimax rotation generated three factors: Attitudes, Beliefs, and Behaviors, with total explained variance of 42.38. The scale had an excellent reliability of 0.99. Conclusions These results confirmed the validity and reliability of the new dental health-related nutrition attitudes, beliefs, and behavior scale to be utilized in low-income women. AbstractObjective:To develop and validate a Dental Nutrition Knowledge Competency Scale to assess dental health-related nutrition knowledge of low-income women.Design:This is a cross-sectional study. A literature search for foods/dietary practices related to dental caries was conducted and the items were incorporated into an initial questionnaire. A panel of ten nutrition experts evaluated it for its content, readability and relevance, and a focus group of six low-income women determined its readability and comprehension. Then the questionnaire was administered to 150 low-income women. Construct validity was evaluated by item difficulty, item discrimination and factor analysis. Internal consistency reliability was tested via Cronbach’s α. In a sub-sample of forty women, test–retest reliability was established. Paired-sample t tests were conducted to examine differences between test scores at the two time points, 2 weeks apart.Settings:Community centres in low-income housing in Central Texas, USA.Participants:A total of 150 low-income women, aged 18–50 years; annual household income <250 % of the federal poverty level. Results:Item difficulty and discrimination analysis resulted in elimination of eight questions. Factor analysis identified twenty-four items that loaded on three factors related to knowledge. These included foods/dietary practices that affect dental caries, added sugars in foods and on food labels, and recommended frequency of oral hygiene practices. The subscales and the completed scale exhibited good internal consistency (mean 0·7 (sd 0·97)) and test–retest reliability (mean 0·8 (sd 0·013)).Conclusions:The Dental Nutrition Knowledge Competency Scale is a validated and reliable instrument to assess nutrition knowledge related to dental health in low-income women.

Background and objectives Nurses’ caring behaviors, professional activities, and behaviors for the benefit of patients, influence patients’ perception of care and satisfaction with the quality of care provided. Caring behaviors of nurses are contextual and various factors such as patients’ social structure, lifestyle, culture, and interests, as well as their biographical, social, and physiological characteristics, can influence perceptions of caring behaviors of nurses, as caring behaviors are an interactive and mental process between patients and nurses. This study was conducted to provide a transcultural translation and psychometric analysis of Caring Behaviors Inventory (CBI) among nurses in Iran. Methodology Transcultural translation of the 16-item CBI was performed. Then, face validity (qualitative), content validity (quantitative and qualitative), and construct validity were examined in a cross-sectional study of 509 patients. A demographic questionnaire and the 16-item CBI were sent to enrolled patients via online questionnaires. The reliability of the instrument was assessed by internal consistency using Cronbach’s alpha. Then, construct validity of the single factor CBI was assessed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Since one factor CBI was not confirmed, construct validity was examined using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). The final number of factors was confirmed using CFA. Results The internal consistency of the instrument was good with Cronbach’s alpha 0.89. Based on EFA, the CBI were loaded on two factors, eigenvalues >1, no item was removed. The emergent factors were named "Communicating respectfully" and "Professional knowledge and skill". These two factors explained 50.197% of the total variance. Then, CFA showed an acceptable fit for the two factors CBI. Conclusion The results showed that the Persian version of the 16-item CBI had adequate validity and reliability. Accordingly, this instrument can be used to study nurses’ caring behaviors.

The aim of this study is to adapt the Moral Integrity Scale developed by Sclenker (2008) to Turkish and conduct its psychometric analysis. The scale items were translated into Turkish by five specialists in the first place. After the language structure, culture suitability and understandability of the items were examined by the two experts, the items agreed upon were translated back to their original language by the two translation experts. After the positive evaluations of the experts, the final version of the scale items was decided. During the adaptation process of the study, data were collected from 470 people for exploratory factor analysis; from 248 people for confirmatory factor analysis and from 100 people for criterion validity. In this context, Exploratory Factor Analysis (AFA) was used to test the construct validity of the scale first. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, it is seen that the moral integrity scale explains 52,127% of the variance as one dimension. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was then performed to test the construct validity of the scale. The one-dimensional and 18-item structure of the Moral Integrity Scale was analyzed with DFA and accepted fit indices were obtained (X2 / sd = 2.745; p <.001; RMSEA = 0.061; S-RMR = 0.051; NFI = 0.929; CFI = 0.954; GFI = 0.915; RFI = 0.919). In order to calculate the scale reliability, the Cronbach Alpha (α) internal consistency coefficients and the difference between the lower and upper scores of 27% were examined. For the Moral Integrity Scale, the internal consistency coefficient Cronbach’s Alpha value was determined as 961. At the same time, the moral identity scale was used for criterion validity and a significant positive relationship was obtained with the two sub-dimensions of this scale. The total score obtained from the scale gives the person’s moral integrity score. According to all these results, it is understood that the Moral Integrity Scale has sufficient validity and reliability values.

The concept of providing a safe internet refers to an attempt to prevent and protect against the damages that may come from any possible harmful content, person and entities in the internet environment. Nowadays in the face of increasing internet use, it is important for individuals who have children to provide safe internet use to their children in terms of preventing their children from being psychologically and socially affected negatively. Therefore, it is very important to develop a scale in order to see the competence of parents in providing safe internet. Purpose of this study is to develop Parent's Safe Internet Providing Competency Scale and to examine its validity and reliability. This research was conducted on a total of 422 participants, 289 females and 133 males, aged between 18 and 59. In process of developing this scale, a 23-item pool was created first and then these items were examined in terms of their grammar, intelligibility, and whether they really measure recognition in couple relationships, and a 20-item application form was obtained in the end. Corrected item-total correlation coefficients were calculated for item analysis of scale. Construct validity of scale was examined by exploratory factor analysis and its reliability with Cronbach alpha internal consistency reliability coefficient. Validity and reliability analyzes were made with SPSS 18. As a result of exploratory factor analysis applied for construct validity of scale, a one-dimensional and 20-item measuring tool with an eigenvalue of 11.3 was obtained explaining % 57 of total variance. KMO sample fit coefficient of scale was found to be .96. Factor loads of scale were ranged between .59 and .84. Cronbach alpha internal consistency reliability coefficient was found to be .96. Corrected item-total correlation coefficients of scale range from .55 to .82. These results show that scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool.

The purpose of this study is to carry out the linguistic equivalence, validity and reliability study of the Teacher Emotion Questionnaire (TEQ) developed by Burić, Slišković and Macuka (2018). After ensuring the linguistic equivalence of the Turkish form, responses of 601 teachers were tested by Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) to ensure the construct validity of the scale. As a result of EFA, the scale was divided into six factors; item factor loads ranged from .49 to .85, and items in the scale explained 68.00% of the total variance. In order to verify the six-factor structure, data were collected from a study group of 255 teachers and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed. Similar results were obtained from CFA, the model was validated and model fit indexes were found to have excellent or acceptable values. After the construct validity of the scale, the reliability analysis was carried out. Cronbach’s alpha (= .92), Spearman-Brown (= .67) and Guttman Split-Half (= .80) coefficients obtained within the scope of internal consistency reliability demonstrated that the scale had the desired internal consistency.
