Systematic Error for Extraction of Controlled Substances from Plant/Fungal Materials

Abstract The aim of this work was to investigate the applicability of a mathematical model developed for the description of supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of cannabinoids from marijuana and hashish for liquid extraction of other substances. The mentioned model is applicable for dynamic SFE whose implementation is analogous to liquid–solid extraction in quasi-counter current mode. According to this model, quasi-counter current liquid–solid extractions were designed by calculation of component transport constants for extractions of psilocin from hallucinogenic mushroom, mescaline from hallucinogenic cactus, harmine from tropical lyan and salvinorin A from hallucinogenic sage. The mentioned model was found to be suitable for the determination of extraction time needed to reach a predefined extraction recovery for quasi-counter current liquid–solid extractions, as well, which allows the elimination of systematic error caused by the non-extracted part. The calculated component transport constants predict the expectable velocity of the extraction, i.e., the higher the component transport constant is, the higher the extraction velocity is. For mushrooms, it could be stated that preliminary treatment of mushrooms with liquid nitrogen significantly increases the extractability of psilocin.

Abstract In this paper, counter current salting-out homogenous liquid–liquid extraction was combined with dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction for the determination of environmental estrogens in water samples by high-performance liquid chromatography. In this method, initially, sodium chloride was filled into a syringe and a mixture of water sample and acetonitrile was driven to pass through the syringe. Due to salting-out effect, fine droplets of acetonitrile went up through the remaining mixture and aggregated as a separated layer on the top. Then, the collected organic phase (acetonitrile) was removed with a syringe and mixed with carbon tetrachloride (extraction solvent). In the second step, the mixed organic phase was rapidly injected into 5 mL of distilled water to further enrich the analytes. Good linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 2.0~200 ng/mL for diethylstilbestrol (DES) and 8.0~200 ng/mL for octylphenol (OP), respectively. Limits of detection were 0.09 ng/mL for DES and 0.20 ng/mL for OP, respectively. Relative standard deviations for intra- and inter-day precisions were less than 2.1 and 3.1%, respectively. Finally, the established method was successfully applied to determine DES and OP in river water, well water, bottled water and campus drinking water samples with recoveries in the range from 81.0 to 105.9%.

In any economy there is a need for the bulky goods transportation which cannot be divided into smaller parts. Such cargoes include building structures, elements of industrial equipment, tracked or wheeled construction and agricultural machinery, heavy armored military vehicles. In any case, tractor-semitrailer should provide fast delivery of goods with minimal fuel consumption. In order to guarantee the goods delivery, tractor-semitrailers must be able to overcome the existing roads broken grade and be capable to tow a semi-trailer in off-road conditions. These properties are especially important for military equipment transportation. The important factor that determines a tractor-semitrailer mobility is its gradeability. The purpose of this work is to improve a tractor-semitrailer mobility with tractor units manufactured at PJSC “AutoKrAZ” by increasing the tractor-semitrailer gradeability. The customer requirements for a new tractor are determined by the maximizing the grade to 18°. The analysis of the characteristics of modern tractor-semitrailers for heavy haulage has shown that the highest rate of this grade is 16.7°. The factors determining the limiting gradeability value were analyzed, based on the tractor-semitrailer with a KrAZ-6510TE tractor and a semi-trailer with a full weight of 80 t. It has been developed a mathematical model to investigate the tractor and semi-trailer axles vertical reactions distribution on the tractor-semitrailer friction performances. The mathematical model has allowed to calculate the gradeability value that the tractor-semitrailer can overcome in case of wheels and road surface friction value and the tractive force magnitude from the engine. The mathematical model adequacy was confirmed by comparing the calculations results with the data of factory tests. The analysis showed that on a dry road the KrAZ-6510TE tractor with a 80 t gross weight semitrailer is capable to climb a gradient of 14,35 ° with its coupling mass full use condition. The engine's maximum torque allows the tractor-semitrailer to overcome a gradient of 10.45° It has been determined the ways to improve the design of the KrAZ-6510TE tractor to increase its gradeability. The flame ionisation detector response to C6-C11 aliphatic hydrocarbon solutions in carbon disulphide in the concentration range between 1.3-9.5 mg ml-1 retained lineary despite the excess of solvent entering the detector simultaneously with the analyte. Pure carbon disulphide exhibited a small positive detector response which did not interfere in calibration procedure and which, under certain GC conditions, inverted to negative values. This response was not proportional to the injected volume and was strongly influenced by the column temperature and/or bleed. On the basis of these findings, a method compatible with the widely used charcoal tube carbon disulphide desorption procedure was developed and evaluated. It consists of static desorption of the sum of aliphatic alkanes and cycloalkanes from the activated charcoal after which an internal standard is added to the supernatant eluate. The resulting carbon disulphide solution is analysed on a highly polar stationary phase 1,2,3-tris(2-cyanoethoxy)propane where the solvent and the analyte coelute in a single peak, the height of which is practically proportional to the sum of alkanes and cycloalkanes present. This also makes determinations of other substances present in the sample more simple. The field test of the proposed method yielded values comparable in precision and accuracy with a control infrared spectrophotometric method.

All of the cutting edges on an hourglass worm gear hob have different shapes and spiral angles. If the spiral angles are small, straight flutes are usually adopted. But for the hob with multiple threads, the absolute values of the negative rake angles at one side of the cutting teeth will greatly affect the cutting performance of the hob if straight flutes are still used. Therefore, spiral flutes are usually adopted to solve the problem. However, no method of determination of the spiral flute of the hourglass worm gear hob has been put forward till now. Based on the curved surface generating theory and the hourglass worm forming principle, a generating method for the spiral flute of the planar double enveloping worm gear hob is put forward in this paper. A mathematical model is built to generate the spiral flute. The rake angles of all cutting teeth of the hob are calculated. The laws of the rake angles of the cutting teeth of four hobs with different threads from one to four threads are analyzed when straight flutes and spiral flutes are adopted respectively. The laws between the value of the negative rake angles of the hob with four threads and the milling transmission ratio are studied. The most appropriate milling transmission ratio for generating the spiral flute is obtained. The machining of the spiral flutes is simulated by a virtual manufacturing system and the results verify the correctness of the method.
