Flow measurement has a long history extending over a period of about 3000 years, but it was only just over 200 years ago that the subject was first studied on a scientific basis and it was only 20 years ago that a surge of new techniques became available. Today there is a wide selection of methods and equipment to enable flow to be measured whether the medium is in the form of a liquid, gas, vapour or solid, or any combination thereof. According to the application, volumetric flow rate can be measured over a range exceeding 10−5m3/h to 106m3/h which in everday terms is equivalent to a cupful per day to the flow of a very large river. The price of a flowmeter can be as small as a few pounds or in excess of £1 million depending on the accuracy and capacity required. References are made to about 50 types of flow metering devices which can be classified into 11 groups.

Through the analysis of 2 single-phase grounding over voltage accidents caused by capacitive over current in 10 kV power grid in this paper, the causes and damages of arc grounding over voltage are illustrated, and the necessity of capacitive current test and effective methods are pointed out. The test and assessment to the 29 substations capacitor currents provides a scientific basis for the correct selection of the neutral point operation mode, and the strengths and weaknesses of the neutral Point grounding through the arc suppression circle and the mode trends of 10kV grid neutral grounding are demonstrated.

The goal of the paper is to design a system that helps to select cutting parameters in cutting processes. The approach is based on industrial engineering methods. The result is the parameters that take into account all the existing restrictive factors. First, a reasonable process to select cutting parameters is proposed. And then, the corresponding tools are designed. To achieve the standardization of the resources and process of cutting parameter selection, the resource contents and query actions are made in a uniform form. Finally, the selection of cutting parameters is realized within a flow management framework. It provides a scientific basis for selecting cutting parameters in actual production

The Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Score (ASDAS) is a new composite index to assess disease activity in ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Criteria for disease activity states and improvement scores are important for use in clinical practice, observational studies, and clinical trials, and have been proposed by the Assessment of SpondyloArthritis international Society (ASAS). At OMERACT 10, our aim was to obtain endorsement from OMERACT for the ASDAS disease activity states and response criteria proposed by the ASAS membership. This article summarizes the associated discussions, the scientific basis of the validation process, and the results from the voting sessions, and identifies areas for research using the ASDAS. OMERACT participants agreed with the selection of cutoff values, which now have the combined endorsement of ASAS and OMERACT and are ready to be used in clinical practice and in research settings.

Abstract Objective To compare the clearness rate of fetal Sylvian fissure revealed by prenatal ultrasonography on trans-cerebellar section and trans-thalamic section, and to provide scientific basis for selecting the best section of prenatal ultrasound to evaluate the developmental parameters related to fetal Sylvian fissure. Methods This was a retrospective study. We analyzed all the fetal images on trans-cerebellar section and trans-thalamic section stored in the imaging system who were undergoing grade III prenatal ultrasound examination in our hospital from January 2017 to December 2018. The gestational age was divided into three groups which were 21 to 24 weeks, 25 to 28 weeks and 29 to 32 weeks respectively. The evaluation criteria for the clear appearance of the Sylvian fissure were complete morphology of the Sylvian fissure and clear apical and anteriorly edges of the Sylvian fissure. The results of showing Sylvian fissure clearly were divided into four groups: only on trans-cerebellar section shown clear, only on trans-thalamic section shown clear, both on trans-cerebellar section and trans-thalamic section shown clear, and both on trans-cerebellar section and trans-thalamic section not shown clear. The clearness rate of each group and the total clearness rate of each section were analyzed statistically. Results The clearness rates of showing Sylvian fissure only on trans-cerebellar section were 62.3% at 21 to 24 weeks, 70.1% at 25 to 28 weeks and 63.6% at 29 to 32 weeks. The clearness rates of showing Sylvian fissure only on trans-thalamic section were 11.1% at 21 ~ 24 weeks, 10.5% at 25 ~ 28 weeks and 9.1% at 29 ~ 32 weeks. The clearness rates of showing Sylvian fissure both on trans-cerebellar and trans-thalamic sections were 22.1% at 21 to 24 weeks, 15.0% at 25 to 28 weeks and 13.0% at 29 to 32 weeks. The unclearness rates of showing Sylvian fissure both on trans-cerebellar and trans-thalamic sections were 4.5%at 21 ~ 24 weeks, 4.4% at 25 ~ 28 weeks and 14.3% at 29 ~ 32 weeks. The clearness rate of showing Sylvian fissure on trans-cerebellar section was significantly higher than on trans-thalamic section (P < 0.05). The total clearness rate of showing Sylvian fissure on trans-cerebellar section and trans-thalamic section were 83.1% and 28.3% respectively. Conclusion In this study, it was suggested that prenatal ultrasound selection of trans-cerebellar section is better than trans-thalamic section in evaluating the developmental parameters related to the Sylvian fissure. Key words fetus; Sylvian fissure; clearness rate; trans-cerebellar section; trans-thalamic section

Abstract The study of geographical forest cultures is the scientific basis for forest-seed zoning and selection of tree species. This research identifies the structural features of the diameter of middle-aged stands of different ecotypes of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) in geographic cultures, as an assessment of its current sanitary state. We studied the stands of 18 forest-steppe and 14 steppe ecotypes. We laid test areas with measuring the diameters of trees with a measuring fork at a height of 1.3 m. Trees with a continuous count were divided into six categories of sanitary status: no signs of weakening, weakened, strongly weakened, shrinking, fresh dead wood and dead wood of past years. Based on the results of continuous recounts, the distribution rows of trees were constructed according to 2- and 4-cm thickness steps. In forest-steppe ecotypes, the distribution of trees along 2-and 4-centimeter-thick steps is single-vertex, but with right asymmetry. The distribution of trees of steppe ecotypes over 2-cm steps of thickness is asymmetric and two-peaked. The distribution of trees of steppe ecotypes by 2-cm thickness steps is asymmetric and two-vertex. The average score of the sanitary state of stands of forest-steppe ecotypes is 1.5 (healthy), in steppe – 1.7 (weakened).

The selection of military equipment supplier is a very complex process. In this paper, based on projection pursuit classification method (PPC), we give the best projection direction and weight coefficients of each evaluation index, the sort of evaluation of each supplier, and consequently, we obtain the selection scheme of supplier. The method has strong objectivity, which provides scientific basis for correct decision.
