Accurate road information is crucial for the effective planning and management of open-pit mines. However, the parameters related to the roads in open-pit mines change constantly, and their shapes are often complicated. These factors indicate the difficulties in updating road information in open-pit mines. This study reports a method for updating the road information in open-pit mines using the trajectories of trucks. The method employs an algorithm for compressing trajectory data, an algorithm for extracting new roads, and an algorithm for old-road classification. Data from the Fushun open-pit mine is used to validate this method, and our experiments show that it can identify more than 90% of new roads and the majority of disappearing roads. In addition, we analyze several factors affecting the results obtained using this approach and provide a detailed description of the limitations of this method. Overall, our findings indicate that this is a promising approach to road-information retrieval.

This paper through a systematic literature review portrays the academic work that has been done in disaster management by applying multi-criteria decision making. This study reviews 36 academic articles that applied multi-criteria decision-making planning and management of natural disasters i.e. tsunami, floods, heavy rains, earthquake, land sliding, epidemic, pandemic, etc. This study finds out that lack of effective planning and management pre and post disasters is causing loss of human life, temporary migration of locals to safer places, loss of properties, and economic losses. Once the crisis is over, it requires efforts and additional finances to bring life to normal. There are regions where disasters are periodic such as floods in rivers or due to monsoon season. But with effective planning and pre-determined priorities, loss to human life can be mitigated. Disaster management departments need effective planning tools to forecast imminent disasters and prepare accordingly. This study is very relevant to the recent global pandemic COVID-19 that has caused human and economic losses and will leave footprints for the coming years and generations

In today's dynamic business environment, the success and competitiveness of any production organization is ensured by continuous improvement, sustainable development, effective planning and management. There is a growing scientific interest in the importance and relevance of production management in view of the strong need to redefine the policies and priorities within the respective strategic plan for business development - with increased focus on capacity planning in order for the industrial enterprises to adapt successfully to the dynamically changing conditions of the global environment and intense competition. Accordingly, full advantage is taken from the ample opportunities to study the impact of a number of factors on capacity planning and management. Based on an in-depth literature analysis, interviews and surveys, selected were 18 key factors  that have a profound influence on the effective planning and capacity management of the production organization. Using  the relationship between each of these factors and the capacity management is closely examined by applying the method of Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM). Additionally, the interrelationships between the key factors under study are further analyzed by means of a Structural self-interaction matrix (SSIM).

Abstract Because each and every destination has unique challenges, managing overtourism is a complex task and is fraught with the opinions of stakeholders who do not agree on the contribution of tourism culturally, socially, or economically. The impact of overtourism varies and is rooted in effective planning and development of the site. There is typically a lack of agreement among the stakeholders about what is meant by 'effective planning and development'. There continues to be the controversy of 'quality over quantity' when it comes to the number of tourists, which is basically the battle between cultural heritage and tourism. The situation is even more complicated in areas where tourism is the primary revenue generator in the economy such as in developing countries. The bottom line is that 'one size does not fit all' and processes such as the one outlined here are necessary to customise the planning and management to attempt to arrive at more effective planning and development of the specific tourism destination.
