Background. The Barkley Adult Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Rating Scale-IV (BAARS-IV) was developed, and it demonstrated good psychometric properties. The BAARS-IV includes 27 questions on the symptoms of adult ADHD. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the psychometric testing of the Persian version of BAARS-IV among the elderlies in Tabriz City. Method. This cross-sectional study was conducted in Tabriz City—in the west of Iran—in 2015 via enrolling of 121 old-aged people. We did the process of translation and adaptation of BAARS-IV and examined its concurrent validity, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability. Result. The BAARS-IV demonstrated good internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Correlations between the BAARS-IV and the CAARS-S: SV were high and evidence supporting concurrent validity was revealed. Cronbach’s alpha for the overall scale and subscales stood at 0.89, 0.81, 0.66, 0.56, and 0.82, respectively. Conclusion. The Persian BAARS-IV showed acceptable reliability and validity. BAARS-IV was determined to be composed of internally consistent and psychometrically sound items.

Background. Nurses face barriers both from the environment and from themselves in providing spiritual care. Their perception to the spirituality as well as the spiritual care may contribute into this situation. Aim. This study was to identify the Indonesian nurse’s perception of spirituality and spiritual care. Methods. A cross-sectional survey investigated 273 nurses in Central Java, Indonesia recruited through a convenience sampling. The Spirituality Spiritual Care Rating Scale (SSCRS) Bahasa Indonesia version was applied to measure the nurses’ perceptions. Six other questions related to nurses’ prior knowledge, responsibilities and work experiences were added. To examine the differences in the nurse’s perception of Spirituality (SP) and Spiritual Care (SC), independent t-test and One-Way ANOVA were applied. Findings. Obtained score means were Spirituality 20.0 (2.0), Spiritual Care 46.2 (4.3), and total SSCRS 66.1 (4.5). There was the significant different perception of spirituality and spiritual care as a total, and in subscale of spirituality based on the geographic location (p=0.006). Respondents felt well informed (52.2%), got training (4.8%), capable of delivering spiritual care (70%), mostly considered the patient spiritual need through listening and observing patients by themselves (67.9%). Conclusion. Nurse perception of spirituality and spiritual care were not different based on respondent characteristics, except the respondents’ work geographical area. Challenges in teaching spirituality were confirmed. This study provided basic information in describing Indonesian nurses’ perception on spirituality and spiritual care.

Decision making using evidence-based practice (EBP) is generally universally accepted by nurses. Such acceptance may affect the personnel’s behaviour towards patients, which is also demonstrated by taking into consideration the patient’s preferences, including the patient’s spiritual needs, in the care plan. The provision of such care requires the development of an attitude of approval and an adequate level of communicative competence, which will enable the actual implementation of the EBP. The purpose of our study was to assess the perception of spirituality and the nurse’s role in providing spiritual care, as well as the perception of the significance of communication skills in the approval of EBP in professional practice. A multi-centre cross-section study was conducted on a population of 1176 participants (459 undergraduate (bachelor’s programme, BP) and 717 postgraduate students (master’s programme, MP)) from 10 medical universities in Poland. Three tools were used in the study to evaluate the participants’ approach: Evidence-Based Practice Competence Questionnaire (EBP-COQ), The Spirituality and Spiritual Care Rating Scale (SSCRS), and Communication Skills Attitude Scale (CSAS). Structural equation modelling was used for the analysis. An analysis of structural equations revealed the presence of positive relationships of the attitude to spiritual care and the role of communicative competences with the approach to EBP regardless of the cohort. A significant difference was found related to the influence of age on the attitude towards learning communicative competences. The approval in this respect was observed to decrease with age in the MP group. Increasing approval of EBP requires strengthening the approach to activity-centred spiritual care, with the simultaneous development of a positive attitude towards learning communicative competences. The model reveals the need to integrate a humanistic approach with EBP, which can be achieved by planning different interventions in different groups of recipients: nurses, academic teachers and students.

Abstract Aim The Self-evaluation of Negative Symptoms (SNS) has been developed to allow schizophrenia patients to evaluate themselves in five dimensions of negative symptoms. The present study aimed to examine psychometric properties of the Persian version of SNS. Methods A group of 50 patients with schizophrenia and a group of 50 healthy controls received the Persian-SNS. Severity of negative symptoms were evaluated by the Scale for Assessment of Negative symptoms (SANS) and the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS). Results The results showed that the Cronbach’s alpha for the Persian SNS was 0.95. The Persian-SNS and its subscales showed significant positive correlations with the total SANS score and SANS subscales as well as BPRS negative subscale, thus confirming the validity of the scale. Finally, the Persian-SNS showed the ability to discriminate patients with schizophrenia from healthy controls. Conclusion The acceptable properties of the Persian version of SNS demonstrated that it is a practical tool for screening negative symptoms in Persian-speaking schizophrenia patients.

This study aims to describe the quality indicators of madrasah academic services to measure the madrasah ability in providing facilities, teachers and education staff, and services that meet the student expectations with the Servqual method. This study uses a quantitative approach with analytical descriptive research. Data collecting technique used a closed questionnaire of rating scale model. Validity test uses product moment correlation and reliability test using Cronbach Alpha. The measurement indicators in this study include five aspects, namely tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and certainty, and empathy. In comprehensive terms the research results show the percentage of academic achievement service quality for teachers is 65.58%, and 58.67% in education staff. Based on five indicators, responsiveness becomes the highest achievement aspect, at 67.02%. While facilities and infrastructure, reliability, certainty and empathy assurance, still need improvement. However, overall, the academic services quality for teachers and education staff is included in the satisfying category, where the majority of teachers and education staff provide a high perception of service quality at the Thullab Foundation.
