Background: Patients can be empowered through self-managing their inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) symptoms. It is important to understand how specialist IBD nurses can practically support patients to do this. Aim: To explore the perceptions of IBD specialist nurses about the implementation of a proposed nurse-guided online cognitive behavioural self-management intervention to manage symptoms of fatigue, pain and urgency. Methods: Five semi-structured focus groups (45 participants) were conducted with IBD nurses, and themes were identified through thematic analysis. Findings: Four themes were identified: (1) role of nurse as a facilitator; (2) nurse competence in facilitating the intervention; (3) nurse perception of patient needs; and (4) intervention implementation. Conclusions: The results of this study helped to refine the proposed guided online intervention with a view to sustainable implementation in clinical practice. Refinements included in-depth training and minimisation of additional workload for nurses through reducing patient contact, including an online messaging system for communication with patients.

ObjectivesThe aim of this study is to determine patient satisfaction compared to nurse perception of patient satisfaction in Peri-anesthesia unit.BackgroundIn 2014 American Society of Anesthesiology published guidelines stating standards for care for hypervigilance during perioperative patient assessments. Other policy publications focus on equipment and practices in this clinical setting. However, none of these sources provide an account of patient experience.MethodsThis is a Prospective, convenience paired matched sampling study using Three multichoice questionnaires were distributed to patients and nurses in this unit. Both nurse and patient questionnaires were distributed simultaneously and paired.Results200 patients and total staff 30 nurses, 26 participated in the study-response rate 87%. Patients' perception showed highest level of satisfaction in nurses' listening. The nurses rated patients' satisfaction with communication and environmental conditions highest compared to other categories. The only significant difference between the nurses and patients' perceptions was in specific symptom communication, patients rated this lower satisfaction compared to nurses ranking this domain.ConclusionIn conclusion, similarity was found between nurses' and patients' ratings. This knowledge is relevant in raising awareness that nurses should be more vigilant evaluating and inquiring about peri-operative patients' symptoms.

Introduction: According to previous studies, the level of compliance with the use of personal protective equipment of the nurses at RSU Haji Surabaya was still quite low. Only 17.8% of the nurses were compliant in using masks, whereas 82.2% of the nurses were not. Moreover, 57.8% nurses were compliant in using medical gloves, whereas 42.2% were not. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between perception and compliance with the use of personal protective equipment of the nurses at at RSU Haji Surabaya. Methods: This study was an observational and cross-sectional study. The population used in this study was the nurses who served in the operating and lung room of at RSU Haji Surabaya. Total sampling technique was used to 33 samples. Moreover, the data were taken by questionnaires and observations. Data analysis was performed by coefficient contingency test by looking at the value of C. Results: The results show that 85.7% of nurses in the operating room are non-compliant and 33.3% nurses in the lung room are non- compliant with the use of PPE. The results also showthat the perception variable that has the strongest relationship with compliance is perception of severity (C = 0.312). Conclusion: The closest relationship between the two variables are the relationship of compliance of PPE usage with the gender of nurses, and the determination of nurses' perceptions is based on the Health Belief Model approach. Keywords: compliance, nurse, perception, personal protective equipment

Background: Selection of the most appropriate device for a switch from one inhaler to an equivalent product is known to have a major impact on clinical outcomes in patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Salmeterol/fluticasone propionate (S/F) Easyhaler® has been demonstrated to be therapeutically equivalent with a reference product. However, no data on real-life effectiveness are currently available for patients switching to S/F Easyhaler from another S/F inhaler. Methods: The aim of this prospective, open, multicenter, non-interventional study was to assess clinical effectiveness of propionate S/F Easyhaler in adult asthma and COPD patients switched from another inhaler. The primary endpoints were Asthma Control Test (ACT) and COPD Assessment Test (CAT). Secondary endpoints included assessments of patient satisfaction and preference and physician/nurse perception on S/F Easyhaler use. The study included three visits during a 12-week follow-up. Results: A total of 211 patients (160 with asthma; 51 with COPD) were included in the analyses. In patients with asthma, there was a statistically significant increase in the mean ACT score at week 12 (20.2 ± 3.9) compared with the baseline (18.6 ± 4.1), with a mean increase of 1.6 (±3.5) points ( p < 0.0001). In patients with COPD, CAT score persisted from baseline (19.9 ± 8.6) to week 12 (19.6 ± 7.0). Patients were significantly more satisfied with Easyhaler and most patients preferred Easyhaler over their previous inhaler. The physicians/nurses reported that it was ‘very easy’ to teach the use of Easyhaler and the training took less than 5 minutes in most cases. Conclusion: The results from this prospective real-life clinical study indicate better or at least similar treatment control of asthma and COPD after switching to S/F Easyhaler from another S/F inhaler. This study also shows that S/F Easyhaler was favored by the patients and that it is easy to teach, learn and use in a real-life setting.
Admission or early assessment is an early stage in the nursing process. Assessment should be done systematically by collecting individual data comprehensively and holistically including assessment of biological, psychological, social, and spiritual. This assessment is important for both patients’ condition and nurses’ performance. The assessment should be completed within 24 hours after the patient admitted in the room. A complete and proper admission assessment will help and facilitate the nurse to determine nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The purpose of this research was to describe nursing perception in completing admission or early assessment of new patients. Data was collected using the interview method using a handphone for recording. The participant of this research was all nurses at the inpatient ward in one private hospital in Indonesia. The sample of this study used a purposive sampling with inclusion criteria such as a bachelor education background and at least one- year work experience. This study was recruited, twelve nurses. Data analysis was applied by the reduction of the data using the thematic analytical process. Two themes emerged in this study including assessment implementation by nurses and the importance of conducting the assessment.

BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Pengkajian awal merupakan tahap awal dalam proses keperawatan.
