The upsetting number of crime occurring in the cities evokes the fear of crime among the civilians. In order to provide a good quality of living environment, a safe city planning must be implemented. To achieve this, several safe city concepts are reviewed. This paper aim to study several safe city concepts done by other researchers. In order to search for the best safe city concepts, a qualitative method research which involves content analysis is the most suitable approach to be employed in this study. This research will develop a new safe city conceptual framework based on the synergy of the previous studies. It is noted that the main concept of safe city planning are the activities and proposition of land use planning, identification of hot spot crime areas, improvement of physical environment and public transport system and appropriate surveillance.

This research is to study the quality of living environment in workers’ accommodation for construction workers in Malaysia. In Malaysia, workers’ accommodation known as rumah kongsi. The research aim to identify appropriate and quality of living environment for construction workers. Majority the construction workers accommodation in Malaysia are currently in a poor condition. The poor condition of accommodation for construction workers have raised many issues affecting their surroundings and built environment. Some of the issues include health, social and finance. However, there are initiatives made by the Malaysian government especially Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (KLCH) in which they have come out with guidelines in providing accommodation for the construction workers. Previous studies showed that some developers and contractors providing improper and inadequate living environment for the construction workers, which lead to several issues, including safety and poor living facilities. The objectives of the studies, firstly to study the existing code of practice and guidelines in providing workers accommodation, secondly, to evaluate the existing workers accommodation in Malaysia and finally to propose the good, safety and practical living environment for workers accommodation. The methodology apply in this study include mix method or combine method which are, interview, case study, observation and content analysis. The data obtained from various methods are using descriptive analysis. In conclusion, this research findings attempts to provide guidelines and model of the most suitable living environment for workers accommodation in construction industry in Malaysia.

This paper takes the planning scheme of Xinyang Greentown Estate in Mudanjing as an example and studies the modern theory of human settlements. Meanwhile, we start the plan with general plotting, designing and planning, and architectural design. We also focus on creating humanized living environment, the harmony between commercial and residential buildings, and the separation of noise and silence. Then we use Air-pak to simulate the wind environment after the completion of it, and it fills the blanks of wind environment research of estate planning. Under the guiding principle of “people oriented”, the target of estate planning is to establish the mechanism which makes different functions of the estate run-in synchronism. In order to build a civilized, comfortable and healthy estate, it is necessary to follow the guidance of sustainable development strategy to meet people's increasing material and spiritual needs. Along with China’s economy development and the improvement of people’s living standard, people’s environmental awareness is becoming stronger and stronger, and the requirements of living environment is becoming higher and higher. After meeting with the basic material needs, people will begin to pursue a higher level of spiritual needs. Which embodied in residence is that the initial pursuit of shelter gradually transforms into the pursuit of a higher level of ownership, respect and value realization. Today high-quality living environment is the noble pursuit of modern living, and estate planning is directly related to the quality of living environment. This paper takes the planning scheme of Xinyang Greentown Estate in Mudanjing as an example and conducts some initial research on the improvement of the quality of living environment in various aspects.

In order to acquire a high quality of living environment, it is necessary to investigate the subjects of floor impact sound insulation. According to the characteristics of optimization design method and restricted optimization math model, the sound transmission between floor and adjacent room down through floating floor has been modeled in a finite-element method. Floating floor structure are studied to realize the design optimization when the room average sound pressures are selected as objective function. Predicted results show that when keep the whole thickness of floating floor fixed, result of dynamics optimization design can reduce room average sound pressure effectively. And when keep the whole thickness of floating floor unfixed, optimization results have been gotten on the total thickness of floor layer and resilient interlayer of the floating floor, and the average sound-pressure in room is lower than original one availably.

The concept of Smart City (SC) has been popular recently, and has been adopted by many cities in the world with various implementation and development. As the world most population now concentrates on urban area, a sustainable city planning and management become important. As the population keeps growing, pressure and tension on a city arise: space for living, waste management, traffic congestion, sufficient clean water resources, and other issues. Beginning in around 2009, the concept of SC was designed to solve problems related to city growth in a sustainable manner. By using technology, Internet of Things (IoT), and community participation, SC aims to make the city a livable place for its inhabitants, putting people as the center of interest and in quality of life in sustainable manners as ultimate goal. This paper aimed to deliver a study on the trend of SC adopted by two cities: Amsterdam and Jakarta. The study was conducted through literature review. The data were analyzed to compare the concept of SC in each city from different parameters, focusing on the developmentprocess, technological adoption, political and institutional arrangement and implementation. The results show that each city has specif ic strategy to implement SC, based on their economic, social, environment and demographic characteristics. It is also important to underline that the main concept of SC is to attract related stakeholders in taking charge of their roles for the success of SC. Furthermore, both cities has a sharing vision in putting environment as the main framework of the development of SC.

The concept of sustainable development has gained in its importance with the attempt to align the goals of economic development with the goals of preserving the quality of living environment. This paper explains the concept of sustainable development and its dimensions, emphasizing its connection with the communal activity of purification and drainage of atmospheric and wastewater. The evidence from the Republic of Serbia regarding wastewater treatment plants and environmental protection costs raises concerns about sustainability issues. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to point out the importance of increasing wastewater treatment plants' capacity and improving their operability, as well as to emphasize the necessity for structural changes of public utility companies to address the identified problems.

The main characteristic that distinguishes the Murgle housing estate from other residential areas in Ljubljana is its specific and unique urban design inspired by Scandinavian urbanism. The main goal of the paper is to present an evaluation of residents’ satisfaction with the quality of the living environment, 50 years after its construction commenced. We also analyzed gradual spatial, urbanistic and social transformations of the neighborhood over time. On the basis of the survey carried on among the residents we established that the neighborhood, despite many unregulated interventions not in accordance with its urban design, maintained a high quality of living environment.
