Abstract Wet clutch is widely used in vehicle power transmission, especially in dual clutch automatic transmission. However, due to the unclear understanding of clutch temperature distribution and its influencing factors, the clutch is prone to excessive temperature rise or even wear under severe working conditions or continuous starting conditions. In this paper, the finite element model of stress field distribution of friction pair is established by considering the non-uniform fixed constraint of clamping spring and the non-uniform contact of hydraulic cylinder. Based on the inclined groove structure of the friction plate, the numerical calculation model of the flow field in the groove is established by the finite volume method. On this basis, considering the time-varying characteristics of stress distribution and cooling flow field distribution of clutch friction pairs, a numerical calculation model of clutch temperature field is established, and a multi-field coupling calculation method of clutch is proposed. The distribution of temperature field under different working conditions during clutch engagement is obtained by numerical calculation. The results show that the temperature rise of clutch depends on the target speed of the clutch driving end and the load on the driven end. The research results can provide guidance for the design and control of the clutch.

In this paper, a 15 KW in-wheel motor (IWM) is taken as the research object, and the coupling factors among the electromagnetic field, temperature field and flow field are analyzed, and the strong and weak coupling factors between the three fields are clarified, and by identifying the strong and weak coupling factors between the three fields, a three-field coupling analysis model for IWM with appropriate complexity is established, and the validity of the model is verified. In a certain driving condition, the electromagnetic field, temperature field and flow field characteristics of IWM are analyzed with the multi-field coupling model. The result shows that, after the IWM runs 8440 s under driving conditions, in this paper, the IWM electromagnetic torque of the rated working condition is 134.2 Nm, and IWM the electromagnetic torque of the peak working condition is 451.36 Nm, and the power requirement of the motor can be guaranteed. The highest temperature of the IWM is 150 °C, which does not exceed the insulation grade requirements of the motor (155 °C), the highest temperature of the permanent magnet (PM) is 65.6 °C, and it does not exceed the highest operating temperature of the PM, and ensures the accurate calculation of components loss and the temperature of the motor. It can be found, through research, that the electromagnetic torque difference between unidirectional coupling and bidirectional coupling is 3.2%, the maximum temperature difference is 7.98% in the three-field coupling analysis of IWM under rated working conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the influence of coupling factors on the properties of motor materials when analyzing the electromagnetic field, temperature field and flow field of IWM; it also provides some reference value for the simulation analysis of IWM in the future.

With the help of Airpak software, the evaluation indexes of temperature field, velocity field and PMV under different air supply parameters are explored. Through the analysis of different parameters of the air supply field, such as temperature and PMV, the evaluation index of the optimal air supply field was established. By comparing the differences of indoor flow field distribution under five different working conditions, the optimal air supply parameters are obtained, that is, when the air supply temperature is 23 °C and the air supply speed is 3.3 m / s, the indoor temperature field and velocity field distribution are the best. The simulation results provide a theoretical basis for the setting of air supply parameters in the upper air supply room.

As the heart of continuous caster, crystallizer is the cradle of most surface deficiencies and inside quality problems in steel blank. Steel blank surface quality, nonmetal impurity content and relevant distribution rely on the steel fluid solidification behavior namely steel fluid flow field distribution on great extent. For the high temperature steel fluid has big kinetic energy, so, the immixture dregs, solidification heat conduction, temperature field distribution in crystallizer, solidification blank shell thickness distribution and continuous caster blank quality were influenced by steel fluid flow. The numerical simulation analysis on flow field and temperature field in crystallizer were conducted in this paper. Three dimensions turbulent flow model was adopted to computate flow field. The heat conduction was ignored on draw blank direction in temperature field. The conjugate heat conduction model of ANSYS CFX was adopted to analyze temperature field, which can consider heat conduction in solid layer and convection heat conduction between solid shell face and fluid simultaneity. The draw blank velocity was found by setting crystallizer water gap insertion depth and crystallizer water gap angle, which can obtain reasonable flow field in blank crystallizer.

Automatic transmission gear shifts are handled by wet clutches, which determine the smoothness. The clutch face temperatures during the engagements are often an important parameter for the total clutch life. A wet clutch test rig has been used to evaluate how a wet clutch engagement can be improved in terms of smoothness and temperature. This was performed with control based upon knowledge about friction characteristics and dynamic performance. The parameters used for control were the drive torque and the normal force on the clutch. By drive torque shut-off and reduced normal force the torque variations were greatly reduced and the temperature rise was decreased by 37%. [S0742-4787(00)01601-5]

AbstractIn order to investigate the effect of the slot ends of the melt-blowing die on the three-dimensional airflow field distribution and the fiber draft, the numerical calculation was carried out. The computational domain of the slot die was established with Gambit, and the flow field was calculated using FLUENT. Compared with the experimental data collected by a hot-wire anemometer, the numerical calculation results are credible. The results show that the slot end face has a certain influence on the three-dimensional flow field distribution under the melt-blowing die. The air velocity and temperature in the center region are quite different from those near the slot-end face. As the distance from the center of the flow field increases, the velocity and temperature on the spinning line begin to decrease. The velocity and temperature distributions of the spinning lines in the central area and nearby areas are almost the same; the temperature and velocity values on the spinning lines near the slot end are the lowest. The distribution characteristics of the three-dimensional airflow field could affect the uniformity of the fiber diameter and the meltblowing products.

This study aimed at addressing the difficulties entailed in accurately determining the working loads of screwed joints (SJs) by establishing mechanical models and verifying the accuracy of the numerical calculation model of antiloosening performance under complex working conditions. First, considering the slip state of the interface and the stress state of the thread surface, a corresponding mechanical model was established to investigate the quantitative model of the interaction amongst structural parameters, complex working loads, and antiloosening performance of SJs. The applicability of existing models is expanded by this new model. Second, a load calibration test, an actual working condition test, and a dynamic simulation were combined to accurately determine the load under complex working conditions. A new experimental scheme for measuring the critical residual preload was employed to verify the reliability and accuracy of the numerical calculation model. The results confirmed that structural safety is ensured and that accident risk is reduced. Finally, based on this model, the transverse load, axial load, bending moment, torque about the bolt axis, clamping eccentricity, loading eccentricity, and coefficient of friction in the thread and at the interface were analyzed in terms of the antiloosening performance. The results of this study are expected to provide significant guidance to engineering practices. Moreover, the numerical calculation model can accurately predict the antiloosening performance and failure and also provide technical support for improving the structural reliability, particularly for key screwed-joint structures (SJSs), under complex working conditions loading.
