An extension of the inverted-U curve hypothesis was tested by defining low, moderate, and high arousal levels as an athlete's lowest, median, and highest pregame state anxiety values across three games of a basketball tournament. Basketball performance was measured by a game statistics composite (PERF) and by total points (TP) in each game. Subjects were 30 female university varsity basketball starters from six teams. They were trichotomized on competitive trait anxiety (A-trait), and a 3 × 3 ANOVA with repeated measures on A-state categories was employed. Significant A-state effects (p < .01) were found for both dependent variables: composite game performance (PERF) and total points (TP). Although A-trait predicted absolute A-state levels extremely well (p < .001), it failed to achieve a significant relationship with performance. When intrasubject T-scores for PERF and TP were regressed separately on intrasubject A-state T-scores, the relationship of variables was seen to consist essentially of a quadratic function which explained 18.4% and 16.9% of within-subject variance for PERF and TP, respectively. High A-state scores were associated with poorest performances in all three trait groups, but plotting performance T-scores across A-state categories indicated this effect to be particularly pronounced in high competitive trait-anxiety subjects.

139 Italian undergraduates (61 men and 78 women) responded to the Italian version of the Christie's Mach IV scale and to the Italian version of the Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Positive correlations between Mach IV scores and both State Anxiety and Trait Anxiety scores were found for both sexes. The authors hypothesized that moderate anxiety may be associated with high Machiavellianism. Further implications of the findings were discussed.

We are developing whack-a-mole games for cognitive assessment. In prior research, we have shown that variants of the game assess cognitive speed and executive functioning (response inhibition), and can be used to screen for delirium in emergency departments. We have also found that whack-a-mole game performance is significantly correlated with overall Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores. In this paper, we report the results of a study that assessed the relationship of our serious game for cognitive assessment with specific components of the MMSE. We found that game performance is correlated most strongly with the orientation to time items component of MMSE and that the combination of three elements of the MMSE (attention and calculation; orientation to time; repetition) accounted for almost half of the variance in game performance in our sample.

The research aims to determine and provide empirical evidence of , sales growth inventory turnover, receivables Turnover, and significant cash turnover on profitability in LQ 45 Company on Indonesia Stock Exchange year 2016-2018. The samples in this study used purposive sampling so obtained 21 company samples from 45 LQ 45 company population listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, with 63 observations of financial statements (21 companies x 3 years of financial statements warning). Dependent variables in this study, namely profitability. While independent variables in this study, sales growth namely inventory turnover, turnover receivables, , cash turnover. The data analysis method used is a type of multiple regression test to test the relationship of independent variables with the dependents The results of the research hypothesis testing proved that the turnover of receivables, and cash turnover significantly positively affect profitability. And sales growth has a negative and significant effect on profitability. While inventory turnover has a negative and insignificant effect on profitability in LQ 45 company in the Indonesia Keywords: sales growth, inventory turnover, turnover receivable, cash turnover, profitability

A 2 (trait anxiety) × 4 (color) factorial design was used to determine the effects of red, green, yellow, and blue on state anxiety as a function of high and low trait anxiety. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory was used to assess both trait (A-Trait) and state (A-State) anxiety for the 10 students assigned to each of the eight treatment combinations. High A-Trait students were significantly more anxious while viewing blue, red, and green than were the low A-Trait students and blue produced significantly more state anxiety than did either yellow or green. These results are consistent with state-trait theory and indicate that the effects of color on state anxiety may be confounded with trait anxiety unless the levels of A-Trait are equivalent for each color condition. The role of cultural and individual differences in the relationship between color and emotion and implications for research are discussed.

Kata kunci: Konsep kendiri, gaya kepimpinan ibu bapa, pencapaian akademik The objective of this study is to see parents’ leadership style as a moderator for adolescents’ self–concept and academic achievement realtionship. 687 adolescents who are studying in form four and form five from secondary schools in Johor Bahru have been choosen as research subjects. Fitt’s Tennessee Self–Concept Scale and Baumrind Parenting Topology Index were used as research instruments. Academic achievement data had been taken from their final examination results. Descriptive statistic had been used for analysing the research subject demographic’s data. The effects of moderator variable on the relationship of independent and dependent variables are analysed by multivariate regression. The result shows the parents’ authoritarian and autoritative leadership styles as a predictor for adolescent self–concept and academic achievement relationship. Whereas, the relationship of adolescents’ self–concept and academic achievement is conditional to parents’ permissive style leadership. Key words: Self-concept, parents' leadership style, academic achievement

Abstract Purpose To document the relationship between concussion symptoms and state anxiety in concussed adolescent athletes. Methods One hundred fifty-three concussed athletes (mean age=16.06, SD=1.62 yrs.) completed the Post-Concussion Symptom Scale (PCSS) and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) at their initial clinical visit within 30 days of injury (M=8.29, SD=6.46 days). Due to violations of normality (Shapiro-Wilk=.95), Spearman’s Rank Order correlations were conducted between STAI state scores and PCSS affective, somatic, cognitive-migraine-fatigue, and sleep clusters and total symptoms. Correlations were also conducted within sub-samples of patients seen within one week (M=3.80, SD=1.72days) and 8 – 30 days post-injury (M=13.91, SD=5.76 days). Statistical significance was set at (p<.05). Results In the total sample (n=153), STAI state scores were significantly associated with total symptoms (r=.54), and the affective (r=.53), sleep (r=.44), cognitive-migraine-fatigue (r=.47), and somatic (r=.33) symptom clusters. All significant relationships among STAI state scores and PCSS total symptoms and symptom clusters were retained for patients seen within 1 week as well as patients completing their first clinical visit 8-30 days post-concussion (p<.05). Conclusion Post-concussion endorsement of concussion symptoms increases as a function of state anxiety. Although the PCSS affective symptom cluster is not a validated measure to diagnose anxiety; these findings support the utility of the PCSS to evaluate for potentially elevated anxiety in concussed adolescent athletes.

SummaryTwenty compulsive gamblers were randomly allocated, half to receive aversion-relief therapy and half to receive imaginal desensitization; both groups were followed-up for one year. Compared with those who received aversion-relief, gamblers who received imaginal desensitization reported a significantly greater reduction of gambling urge and behaviour; they also showed a significant reduction in trait anxiety at one year and in state anxiety at one month and one year following treatment. A high level of state anxiety at one month following treatment predicted failure to respond to treatment at one year in the subjects who received imaginal desensitization, but not in those who received aversion-relief. The relationship between reduction in anxiety and in gambling urge in response to imaginal desensitization was predicted from the theory that compulsive gambling is driven by aversive tension.
