ABSTRACT Comamonas testosteroni strain R2 was isolated from a continuous culture enriched by a low concentration of phenol-oxygenating activities with low K s values (below 1 μM). The draft genome sequence of C. testosteroni strain R2 reported here may contribute to determining the phenol degradation gene cluster.

Comamonas testosteroni TA441 has a complete phenol degradation gene cluster but does not degrade phenol because the cluster is tightly repressed. However, mutant strains that can degrade phenol arise by spontaneous mutations of a repressor gene during incubation with phenol. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of strain TA441.

ABSTRACT We report here the genome sequence of Labrenzia sp. EL143, an alphaproteobacterium isolated from the gorgonian coral Eunicella labiata that possesses various genes involved in halogen and aromatic compound degradation, as well as polyketide synthesis. The strain also maintains multiple genes that confer resistance to toxic compounds such as heavy metals and antibiotics.

We report a draft genome sequence of Comamonas testosteroni strain YAZ2, a polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) degrader that was isolated from a PCB-unpolluted environment. The assembled genome contains a single 5.4-Mb chromosome and an 87-kb plasmid. The bph gene cluster, which is involved in PCB degradation, was found on the chromosome.

ABSTRACT Enterococcus canintestini 49, isolated from dog feces, is active against Clostridium perfringens, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, and Listeria monocytogenes. Its draft genome sequence reported herein contains a gene cluster encoding multiple bacteriocins and indicates the absence of genes for virulence factors. These characteristics signify the strain’s potential for use as a probiotic.

We report the draft genome sequence of Variovorax boronicumulans strain HAB-30, which was isolated from a phenol-degrading chemostat culture. This strain contains genes encoding a multicomponent type of phenol hydroxylase, with degradation pathways for catechol and other aromatic compounds. The genome sequence will be useful for understanding the metabolic pathways involved in phenol degradation.

ABSTRACT Brevibacillus laterosporus OSY-I1 is a Gram-positive spore-forming bacterium isolated from soil. The bacterium produces brevibacillin, an antimicrobial lipopeptide effective against several drug-resistant Gram-positive bacteria. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of the strain OSY-I1 and the gene cluster responsible for the biosynthesis of brevibacillin.

ABSTRACT The draft genome sequence of the aureocyclicin 4185-producing strain Staphylococcus aureus 4185 is presented. The assembly contains 2,789,721 bp and a G+C content of 32.8%. Genome analysis allowed us to determine the complete sequence of the bacteriocinogenic plasmid pRJ101 and to find another bacteriocin gene cluster encoded on the bacterial chromosome.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Pseudorhodobacter sp. strain E13, a Gram-negative, aerobic, nonflagellated, and rod-shaped bacterium which was isolated from the Yellow Sea in South Korea. The assembled genome sequence is 3,878,578 bp long with 3,646 protein-coding sequences in 159 contigs.

ABSTRACT Vibrio harveyi is a Gram-negative bacterium associated with vibriosis in penaeid shrimp. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of a V. harveyi strain isolated from Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) during a vibriosis outbreak. The availability of this genome will aid future studies of vibriosis in shrimp aquaculture.
