Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as an important pathogen leading to multiple nosocomial outbreaks. Here, we describe the genomic sequence of a multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii sequence type 164 (ST164) isolate from a hospital patient in Sudan. To our knowledge, this is the first reported draft genome of an A. baumannii strain isolated from Sudan.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the whole-genome sequence of multidrug-resistant Salmonella enterica serovar Cannstatt harboring mcr-1.1, isolated from a fatal sepsis case. Genomic analysis revealed that the isolate was sequence type 2390 carrying mcr-1.1, blaCTX-M-14, aac(3)IId, aac(6′)Iaa, floR, qnrS1, sul2, tetA, and tetM. Three Inc plasmids were observed, including the IncX4 plasmid containing mcr-1.1.

ABSTRACT Here, we announce the draft genome sequence of Enterobacter hormaechei 2B-MC1, isolated from a shrimp sample collected from a farmer’s market in Atlanta, Georgia. The assembled genome sequence observed was 4,661,561 bp long with a G+C content of 55.3%. The isolate harbored sul1, sul2, qnrA1, oqxB, dfrA23, blaACT, floR, fosA, tet(A), aph(6)-Id, and aph(3″)-Ib antibiotic resistance genes.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a common nosocomial pathogen often associated with a high mortality rate in vulnerable populations. Here, we describe the genomic sequence of a pan-resistant, high-risk clone of P. aeruginosa sequence type 111 (ST111) isolated from a hospital patient in Sudan.

ABSTRACT Acholeplasma laidlawii can be isolated from cattle environments and different body sites of bovines. It is still under evaluation if A. laidlawii acts as a primary pathogen. Here, we present the whole-genome sequence of A. laidlawii isolated from the conjunctiva of a heifer with infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis.

The Gram-negative bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa is often multidrug resistant, associated with global epidemic outbreaks, and responsible for significant morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of BWH047, a multidrug-resistant P. aeruginosa clinical isolate belonging to the epidemic sequence type 235 and demonstrating high levels of colistin resistance.

ABSTRACT Scenedesmus acuminatus, also known as Tetradesmus acuminatus, is a promising green microalga for sustainable production of microalga products, including valuable compounds such as astaxanthin, β-carotene, and lutein, polysaccharides such as β-glucan, and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Here, we report the draft whole-genome sequence of Scenedesmus acuminatus SAG 38.81.

Here, we report the draft whole-genome sequence of Streptococcus suis strain S10, isolated from the tonsils of a healthy pig. S. suis S10 belongs to the highly virulent serotype 2, which includes isolates that cause infectious diseases, including meningitis, in pigs and human.

ABSTRACTAfter the introduction of the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine in Malaysia in recent years, the emergence of nonvaccine serotypes is of concern, particularly the antibiotic-resistant strains, with an increase specifically in serotype 15A. Here, we report the draft genome sequence ofStreptococcus pneumoniaestrain SS40_16, isolated from the blood sample of a 19-month-old female in 2016. SS40_16 is a multidrug-resistant strain with resistance to penicillin (MIC, ≥2 µg/ml), tetracycline, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. The strain belongs to serotype 15A and sequence type 1591 (ST1591).

ABSTRACTWe report the draft genome sequence ofStaphylococcussp. strain AL1, which degrades quorum-sensing molecules (namely,N-acyl homoserine lactones). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first documentation that reports the whole genome sequence and quorum-quenching activity ofStaphylococcussp. strain AL1.
