ABSTRACT Here, we report the whole-genome sequence of multidrug-resistant Salmonella enterica serovar Cannstatt harboring mcr-1.1, isolated from a fatal sepsis case. Genomic analysis revealed that the isolate was sequence type 2390 carrying mcr-1.1, blaCTX-M-14, aac(3)IId, aac(6′)Iaa, floR, qnrS1, sul2, tetA, and tetM. Three Inc plasmids were observed, including the IncX4 plasmid containing mcr-1.1.

Here, we report the whole-genome sequence of a methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strain harboring staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCC mec ) type IX, isolated from a fatal sepsis case. Genomic analysis revealed that the isolate was sequence type 9 and spa type t3446, carrying multiple antimicrobial-resistant genes comprising mecA , blaZ , aac(6′)-aph(2″) , aadD , ant(6)-Ia , lsa (E), dfrG , tet (M), fexA , and lnu (B).

Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as an important pathogen leading to multiple nosocomial outbreaks. Here, we describe the genomic sequence of a multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii sequence type 164 (ST164) isolate from a hospital patient in Sudan. To our knowledge, this is the first reported draft genome of an A. baumannii strain isolated from Sudan.

The Gram-negative bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa is often multidrug resistant, associated with global epidemic outbreaks, and responsible for significant morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of BWH047, a multidrug-resistant P. aeruginosa clinical isolate belonging to the epidemic sequence type 235 and demonstrating high levels of colistin resistance.

ABSTRACTAfter the introduction of the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine in Malaysia in recent years, the emergence of nonvaccine serotypes is of concern, particularly the antibiotic-resistant strains, with an increase specifically in serotype 15A. Here, we report the draft genome sequence ofStreptococcus pneumoniaestrain SS40_16, isolated from the blood sample of a 19-month-old female in 2016. SS40_16 is a multidrug-resistant strain with resistance to penicillin (MIC, ≥2 µg/ml), tetracycline, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. The strain belongs to serotype 15A and sequence type 1591 (ST1591).

ABSTRACT The spread of vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VREfm) has become a challenge to health care infection control worldwide. In 2015, a marked increase in VREfm isolation was detected in acute public hospitals in Tasmania. We report here the draft whole-genome sequence of a newly designated VREfm sequence type, sequence type 1421 (ST1421).

Extraintestinal Escherichia coli sequence type 1193 (ST1193) is an important source of fluoroquinolone resistance, which has emerged in recent years. We report the first draft genome sequence and annotation of a multidrug-resistant E. coli ST1193 strain obtained from a wastewater treatment plant in Austria.

ABSTRACT In this work, we report the draft whole-genome sequence of the multiply antibiotic-resistant Citrobacter portucalensis strain MBTC-1222 isolated from the uziza leafy vegetable in Nigeria. Sequence analysis showed the assembled genome size to be 4,881,935 bp, containing 4,603 protein-coding genes, 131 pseudogenes, 7 rRNAs, 74 tRNAs, and 9 noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs).

Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Corvallis is commonly reported in avian populations and avian by-products. We report the draft genome sequence of a multidrug-resistant S. Corvallis strain (NPHL 15376). To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of this serovar isolated from human blood in the United States.

ABSTRACT We report the draft genome sequence of Escherichia coli ASBT-1, a representative of E. coli sequence type 155 (ST155), obtained from India. Considering the known wide variety of pathogenic and antibiotic resistance potentials, this strain should be of great interest for detailed comparative genomic analysis.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. diarizonae serovar 61:k:1,5,(7) strain 1569, alternatively named 14PM0011, which is a common serovar in German sheep that is unrepresented in the databases and considered and described as being host adapted with low virulence.
