Development, implementation, and assessment of a distance module in endocrine physiology

This study aimed to develop, implement, and assess a distance module in endocrine physiology in TelEduc for undergraduate nursing students from a public university in Brazil, with a sample size of 44 students. Stage 1 consisted of the development of the module, through the process of creating a distance course by means of the Web. Stage 2 was the planning of the module's practical functioning, and stage 3 was the planning of student evaluations. In the experts' assessment, the module complied with pedagogical and technical requirements most of the time. In the practical functioning stage, 10 h were dedicated for on-site activities and 10 h for distance activities. Most students (93.2%) were women between 19 and 23 yr of age (75%). The internet was the most used means to remain updated for 23 students (59.0%), and 30 students (68.2%) accessed it from the teaching institution. A personal computer was used by 23 students (56.1%), and most of them (58.1%) learned to use it alone. Access to a forum was more dispersed (variation coefficient: 86.80%) than access to chat (variation coefficient: 65.14%). Average participation was 30 students in forums and 22 students in the chat. Students' final grades in the module averaged 8.5 (SD: 1.2). TelEduc was shown to be efficient in supporting the teaching-learning process of endocrine physiology.

OBJECTIVE: to describe the perception of lecturers and undergraduate nursing students regarding the dialogic experience in the informal spaces and its relationship with training in health.METHOD: experiential descriptions were collected in the context of a public university in the non-metropolitan region of the state of Bahia, Brazil, using open interviews. These descriptions were analyzed according to the principles of the phenomenology of Maurice Merleau-Ponty.RESULTS: it was revealed that the informal spaces contribute significantly to the construction of knowledge and professional training strengthening teaching and promoting the re-signification of the subjects' experience.CONCLUSION: it is evidenced that the dialogic experience has relevancy for rethinking the teaching-learning process in the university, such that the informal spaces should be included and valued as producers of meanings for the personal and academic life of lecturers and students, with the ability to re-signify existence.

To analyze satisfaction with the academic experience and its relationship with sociodemographic variables among undergraduate nursing students from a public university in southern Brazil. Quantitative study, conducted with 170 students with the application of the Academic Experience Satisfaction Scale. Descriptive statistics, analysis of variance and linear regression analysis were used for data analysis. Students were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with the course or with the institution and the opportunity of development. The aspect "satisfaction with the course" obtained the highest mean; younger students who carried out leisure activities had greater satisfaction with the course and with the opportunity of development. It is expected that learning the possible satisfaction or dissatisfaction of students can contribute to the development of strategies aimed at qualifying students' learning.

OBJECTIVE: to investigate the burnout syndrome and its relationship with demographic and academic variables among undergraduate nursing students at a public university in Southern Brazil.METHOD: a quantitative study with 168 students, by applying an adaptation of the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Student Survey, validated for this study. We used descriptive and variance analysis of the data analysis.RESULTS: we found that students do not have the burnout syndrome, manifesting high average scores in Emotional Exhaustion, low in Disbelief and high in Professional Effectiveness; that younger students who perform leisure activities have greater Professional Effectiveness, unlike students in early grades with no extracurricular activities; combining work and studies negatively influenced only the Professional Effectiveness factor, while the intention of giving up influenced negatively Disbelief and Professional Effectiveness factors.CONCLUSION: the situations that lead students to Emotional Exhaustion need to be recognized, considering the specificity of their study environments.

To report the experience about the formation process of founding students of the Academic League of Urgency and Emergency. This is an account of the experience of students in the nursing course. The educational activities of the Academic League of Urgency and Emergency of a Public University of the State of Minas Gerais, were conducted by fifteen students and three teachers and took place between the months of October to December 2019. The theoretical and practical contents were conducted by teachers and health professionals with expertise in the subject. The active and interactive pedagogy used in the events favored the formation of critical and socially responsible students to clinical situations that involve the population. The University's Academic Urgency and Emergency League was founded through a meeting held with five undergraduate nursing students, who shared a common ideal: studying and researching urgency and emergency. The initiative to create the Academic League provided a training of qualified professionals to directly meet the demands of society.

Pesquisa descritiva que teve como objetivos caracterizar o perfil demográfico de graduandos de enfermagem do últimosemestre de uma Universidade Pública do Paiuí e identificar o conhecimento deles sobre úlcera por pressão (UPP). Objetivo: Analisar as percepções de estudantes de graduação em Enfermagem sobre a utilização do portfólio reflexivo como método de ensino, aprendizagem e avaliação. Método: Pesquisa qualitativa, realizada em uma turma de acadêmicos de Enfermagem, os quais desenvolveram portfólios para a disciplina Tópicos Especiais do Cuidado de Enfermagem. Utilizou-se questionário sobre a percepção dos acadêmicos na construção do portfólio com ênfase em aspectos positivos e negativos do processo. Os dados foram categorizados pela análise de conteúdo temática. Resultados: Os resultados evidenciaram que a utilização do portfólio constitui uma ferramenta para superação do modelo tradicional de ensino, visando a reflexão do estudante no processo ensino-aprendizagem. O sucesso do uso do portfólio como metodologia ativa e método de avaliação depende da participação e interesse dos estudantes e professores. Conclusão: A reflexão no processo ensino-aprendizagem se torna possível com a utilização de metodologias ativas. Como implicações para a prática de Enfermagem, o portfólio se mostrou uma estratégia eficiente para a ampliação do conhecimento teórico, auxiliando no desenvolvimento das habilidades e competências da profissão.Descritores: Educação em Enfermagem; Aprendizagem; Avaliação educacional.PERCEPTIONS OF NURSING STUDENTS ON THE USE OF THE REFLECTIVE PORTFOLIOObjective: To analyze the perceptions of undergraduate nursing students about the use of the reflective portfolio as a teaching, learning and assessment method. Method: Qualitative research, conducted in a class of nursing students, who developed portfolios for the discipline Special Topics of Nursing Care. We used a questionnaire about the students' perception in the portfolio construction with emphasis on positive and negative aspects of the process. Data were categorized by thematic content analysis. Results: The results showed that the use of the portfolio is a tool for overcoming the traditional teaching model, aiming at student reflection in the teaching-learning process. The success of using the portfolio as an active methodology and assessment method depends on the participation and interest of students and teachers. Conclusion: Reflection in the teaching-learning process becomes possible with the use of active methodologies. As implications for nursing practice, the portfolio proved to be an efficient strategy for the expansion of theoretical knowledge, helping in the development of skills and competences of the profession.        Descriptors: Nursing education; Learning; Educational evaluation.PERCEPCIONES DE ESTUDIANTES EN REFERENCIA SOBRE EL USO DE LA CARTERA REFLECTIVAObjetivo: analizar las percepciones de los estudiantes de pregrado de enfermería sobre el uso de la cartera reflexiva como método de enseñanza, aprendizaje y evaluación. Resultados: Los resultados mostraron que el uso del portafolio es una herramienta para superar el modelo de enseñanza tradicional, con el objetivo de reflejar al alumno en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. El éxito del uso de la cartera como metodología activa y método de evaluación depende de la participación e interés de estudiantes y maestros. Conclusión: La reflexión en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje se hace posible con el uso de metodologías activas. Como implicaciones para la práctica de enfermería, el portafolio demostró ser una estrategia eficiente para expandir el conocimiento teórico, ayudando a desarrollar las habilidades y competencias de la profesión.Descriptores: Educación en enfermería; Aprendizaje; Evaluación educativa.
