The paper discusses a new method of obtaining local particle reinforcement in the composite discs. In this method, the liquid composite suspension is poured into a mould and then exposed to the alternating electromagnetic field. The Lorentz force acting on the liquid metal causes the reinforcement to move towards one or both surfaces of the manufactured disc. The paper presents the process theory, the methodology for the casting system design, and the results of an experimental manufacture of one-side and two-side reinforced composite discs made of aluminium alloy.

We derive a new set of field equations within the framework of the Palatini formalism. These equations are a natural generalization of the Einstein–Maxwell equations which arise by adding a function [Formula: see text], with [Formula: see text] to the Palatini Lagrangian f(R, Q). The result we obtain can be viewed as the coupling of gravity with a nonlinear extension of the electromagnetic field. In addition, a new method is introduced to solve the algebraic equation associated to the Ricci tensor.

In paper problem concerning inoculation of primary structure of aluminum with purity of 99,5% and 99,8%, which is realized mainly by intensification of liquid metal movement in mould is presented. In aim of realization of forced movement during the crystallization of liquid metal was used rotating electromagnetic field produced by the induction coil supplied by current with elevated frequency. The degree of structure refinement was represented by equiaxed crystals zone content on transverse section of ingot and average area of macro-grain in this zone. Effect of structure refinement obtained by influence of electromagnetic field was compared with refinement obtained by use of traditional inoculation, which consists in introducing of additives i.e. titanium, boron and carbon to metal bath. The results of studies and their analysis show possibility of effective refinement of pure Al primary structure, only with use of rotating electromagnetic field and without necessity of application of inoculants such a Ti, B and C. This method of inoculation is important, because inoculants decrease the degree of purity and electrical conductivity of pure Al. Moreover Ti and B are reason of point cracks formation during rolling of ingots.

A new method for producing titanium and titanium alloys was studied at this paper. The experiment results indicate that Na2TiO3 could be synthesizing by heating at 450°C using NaOH and TiO2 powders.Metallic titanium was observed in XRD pattern of the electrolytes after experiment by means of constant-current electrolytic Na2TiO3 in a CaCl2-CaF2 melt at 850°C.Thendepending on the electrolytical residua, titanium aluminium alloy could be obtained by calcining with Al powders.

Abstract The lifetime of a catalytic converters is limited. Today’s environmental regulations require that used converters should be properly recycled as a valuable source of precious metals, Al2O3 and steel scrap. The precious metals used in the devices perform catalytic functions. They are suspended in a ceramic or metal carrier. This paper deals with the recovery of precious metals from automotive converters using a metal-collector method. In order to speed up the washout of the precious metals from the capillary structure of the converter, the movement of the liquid metal-collector was forced by the electromagnetic field. The research was aimed at improving the effective velocity of the liquid metal flow through the carrier by means of a device with a double windings. Various ways of power supply were considered. The calculation experiment was performed as a weakly coupled analysis of the electromagnetic field and flow field.
