The aim of this research was to formulate oleogel with thyme essential oil with potential antimicrobial activity, design optimal formulation, and evaluate the influence of ingredients on texture parameters of preparation. Central composite design was applied to statistical optimization of colloidal silica and paraffin oil mixture for the modeling of oleogel delivery system. The influence of designed formulations on response variables (texture parameters), firmness, cohesiveness, consistency, and index of viscosity, was evaluated. Quality of essential oil of thyme was assessed by determinate concentration of thymol and carvacrol using gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID). Microbiological tests have shown that oleogel with thyme essential oil affectsCandida albicansmicroorganism when thyme essential oil’s concentration is 0,05% in oleogel mixture.

The effect of different essential oils on the quality and shelf life of fish and seaweed burgers during storage was evaluated. For this purpose, thyme and oregano essential oils were selected at a concentration of 0.05% (v/w). Three types of salmon and seaweed burgers were prepared: without essential oil, burgers with red thyme essential oil (0.05% (v/w)) and burgers with oregano essential oil (0.05% (v/w)), which were vacuum packaged and stored at 4 ℃ for 17 days. Physicochemical and microbiological analyses were carried out periodically throughout storage. The addition of both essential oils did not have any effect on the evolution of the pH, the moisture content or texture parameters. Only the thyme essential oil managed to slightly slow down the increase of total volatile basic nitrogen and trimethylamine nitrogen. The samples with oregano essential oil and especially those with thyme essential oil showed minor oxidation. The salmon and seaweed burgers without essential oils and those which contained oregano essential oil showed a faster increase of mesophilic counts than those which had thyme essential oil, but no noticeable improvement was observed in the shelf life of the burgers with thyme essential oil. To improve the shelf life of the fish and seaweed burgers, it would be necessary to increase the concentration of both essential oils.

The significant prevalence of diseases of the oral cavity predetermine the relevance of preventive means aimed at maintaining the dental health of the population. The application of toothpastes and elixirs with anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and deodorant properties improves the condition of the oral cavity, and is also one of the means for the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease and halitosis. The aim of the work was to develop the composition and laboratory technology of curative and prophylactic toothpaste and to study the indicators of its quality. Research materials: carbopol, xanthan gum, propolis tincture, bee bread tincture, thyme essential oil, xylitol, sorbitol, and a sample of toothpaste. Pharmacological-technical methods, potentiometric and alkalimetric study methods were used. In order to develop the composition of a toothpaste, requirements of the current regulatory documents for the composition and characteristics of toothpastes were analyzed. The composition and quantity of components for the curative and prophylactic toothpaste have been theoretically substantiated. Carbopol and xanthan gum were used as gelling agents. Calcium carbonate was chosen as the abrasive basis of the toothpaste, which helps to remove plaque from the tooth enamel. Such polyhydric alcohols as sorbitol, glycerin, xylitol and propylene glycol were used as plasticizers. Considering the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and radioprotective properties of propolis tincture and bee bread tincture, they were incorporated in the toothpaste composition. The technology of laboratory batches of toothpaste was based on the general principles of obtaining suspension gels and pastes. The quality of the toothpastes was controlled for organoleptic and physicochemical indicators in accordance with the requirements of the regulatory documents. The theoretical and experimental justification of the composition of the curative and prophylactic toothpaste of antimicrobial actvity with a deodorant effect. This paste contained carbopol, xanthan gum, calcium carbonate, xylitol, tinctures of bee products (propolis and bee bread) and thyme essential oil. On the basis of pharmacological-technical research, a rational technology of the curative and prophylactic toothpaste has been developed. Organoleptic and physicochemical indicators of the quality of the developed curative and prophylactic toothpaste have been established and its classification characteristics have been determined.

The municipality of Rodeo is one of the largest oregano producers in the state of Durango, reporting an average of 100 tons per year, which are used as a condiment and there is no use in its entirety. The objective of the present work was Physicochemical Characterization of Essential Oil of Oregano (AEO) in 6 communities of the municipality of Rodeo Durango, the methodology was carried out by dragging with water vapor, where quality and quantity of oil were controlled, using the leaves of The oregano plant, the density, was determined by means of a pycnometer and the index of refraction by means of a refractometer (Master Refractometer). The results obtained for the index of refraction of the oils of the 6 localities circle between 1.47-1.50 which indicates an acceptable purity in the (AEO). The density of oils circle between 0.91-0.92. The chemical components were read by gas chromatography and a Flame Ionization Detector (FID), where a higher percentage of concentration on the carvacrol compound was reported, which circulated between 60-70% while the compound Thymol was between 30-40%. A statistical analysis was performed to determine if there was a significant difference between the concentration of the analytes based on the height of the sample obtaining a significance >5, which indicates a difference between the data.

Calcination of Nkalagu limestone for the production of agricultural quicklime is presented. It entails improving the quality of limestone through calcination process. Appropriate scientific instruments/techniques (x-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscopy) were used for the characterization of the uncalcined and calcined limestone samples. Effects of calcination variables on the quicklime yield were examined. Central composite design of design expert software was used to optimize the calcination process. Analyses of the results revealed that calcite was the major limestone’s mineralogical composition. Quadratic model adequately described the relationship between quicklime yield and calcination factors of temperature, particle size and time. Quadratic model adequately described the relationship between quicklime yield and calcination factors of temperature, particle size and time. The optimum yield of 74.00% was obtained at optima operating conditions; temperature of 937.41 0C, particle size of 85.99µm and time of 3.7 hrs. Characteristics of the quicklime showed that the calcination improved the quality of the sample in terms of mineralogical properties. It is recommended that the generated model should be used to develop chemical plant/equipment for limestone calcination process.
