Field experiments were conducted during 2016 and 2017 cropping seasons in the derived agro-ecological zone of Nigeria to study the combined and sole effect of zinc and boron fertilizers on the growth, seed yield, and quality of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L). The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design (RCBD), replicated four times. Three levels of zinc (0, 4, and 8 kg·ha−1) and four levels of boron (0, 300, 600, and 900 ml·ha−1) were combined and evaluated. Groundnut seeds were analyzed at the end of the experiments to determine nutrient elements and some heavy metal contents. Data collected were subjected to Statistical Analysis of Variance using SAS 2000. Treatment means were compared using the Duncan multiple range test at 0.05 level of probability. The effect of zinc was not significant on the vegetative parameters, while application 8 kg Zn·ha−1 significantly increased number of seeds, weight of seeds, seed yield per hectare, and seed quality though the values were similar to the application of 4 kg Zn·ha−1 only on the seed yield and its parameters. Application of 600 and 900 ml B·ha−1 gave higher and statistically similar values for vegetative parameters, yield, and yield parameters, while 600 ml B·ha−1 significantly improved the seed quality. It can therefore be recommended that for optimum yield and seed quality, application of 8 kg Zn·ha−1 combined 600 ml B·ha−1 is sufficient in the study area without increasing the heavy metal concentration of groundnut seed.

<p>Soils of the southern Guinea savanna zone of Nigeria are inherently infertile due to shortened fallow period and the continuous use of inorganic fertilizer which depletes the soil of micronutrients such as zinc over time. A field trial was carried out at the Teaching and Research Farm of the University of Ilorin, Nigeria during the 2016 and 2017 cropping seasons to evaluate the effect of zinc and NPK fertilizer on the growth, yield and zinc concentration of seeds of sesame. The experiment was laid out as a factorial fitted into a randomized complete block design (RCBD), replicated thrice. The treatment consisted of four levels of ZnSO<sub>4</sub> (0, 5, 10 and 15 kg ha<sup>-1</sup>) and four levels of NPK 15:15:15 (0, 100, 200 and 300 kg ha<sup>-1</sup>). Data collected were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) and means were separated using new Duncan multiple range test at 5 % level of probability. Results obtained showed significant effects of Zn and NPK rates on plant height, number of leaves, yield per plot and yield per hectare. The application of 15 kg ha<sup>-1</sup> Zn and 300 kg ha<sup>-1</sup> (15:15:15) NPK resulted in high yield and high zinc content of seeds.</p>

Utilization of adequate fertilizer rate enhances soil physical and chemical properties, minimizes soil nutrient imbalance, and promotes better crop growth and development. The study investigated the influence of varying rates of chicken manure and NPK fertilizers as it affected growth, nutrient uptake, seed yield, and oil yield of sunflower on nutrient-limiting soil. Field experiments were carried out during 2014 and 2015 planting seasons for both main and residual studies. There were eight treatments comprising four rates of chicken manure (5, 10, 15, and 20 t·ha−1), three rates of NPK (30, 60, and 90 kg·N·ha−1), and control. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replicates. Growth, yield, dry matter and proximate, nutrient uptake concentration, and oil content were determined following standard procedures. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, and means were compared with the Duncan multiple range test (DMRT) at p≤0.05. Performance of sunflower was superior on the field fertilized with 10 t·ha−1 chicken manure which was comparable to 90 kg·N·ha−1 NPK fertilizer. Sunflower seed yield and oil quality were superior in plots supplied with 10 t·ha−1 chicken manure which was comparable to 60 kg·N·ha−1 NPK. Growth, yield, dry matter, and proximate content were least in the unfertilized plots.

The experiment was conducted in the central research field at the department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Sam Higginbottom University Of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences and college, Prayagraj (U.P) during Rabi season 2020-2021. In order to standardize the suitable pre-sowing seed treatment of Mustard (Variety-Sulabh-3777) laid by Randomized block design(RBD). Influence of different seed treatment on growth, yield and seed quality parameters of mustard were evaluated by Viz T0- Control, T1-Hydropriming(-0.3Mpa) for 3Hrs, T2-KNO3 1% for 12Hrs, T3-Nacl - 1% for 12Hrs, T4-KH2PO4 -1% for 12Hrs, T5- Electromagnetic (200Guass) for 30Mins, T6-PEG6000 (0.15 Mol.) for 3Hrs, T7- Neem leaf Extract- 5% for 12Hrs, T8-Tulasi Leaf Extract-5% for 12Hrs , T9- Recommended NPK, 10-Recommended NPK+FYM, T11-Azotobacter, T12-Azotobacter + 50% NPK+ FYM. To find out influence of different seed treatment on growth, yield and seed quality parameters of mustard showed that significant treatment field emergence (%), plant height (30,60,90 DAS), days to 50% flowering, number of branches per plant, number of siliquae per plant, number of seeds per siliquae, seed yield per plant (g), seed yield per plot (g), biological yield (g), harvest index. The study helps to improve the quality to improve seed with help of seed various botanicals, chemicals and biofertilizers priming treatment which are cost effective and economic, non- toxic, ecofriendly sources.

Tow field experiments were conducted at Nineveh Governorate at two locations: Baashiqa/village Omer qapchi and Al-Rashidia during the summer growing season 2019, to study the response of two soybean varieties (Lee74 and Taqa) to sowing depth (3 and 7 cm). The experiments were carried out in Randomized Complete Block Design (R.C.B.D) with three replications. The results were as following: Variety Taqa was significantly superior in field emergence Percentage, leaf area, no. of pods.plant-1, wt. of 1000 seeds, seed yield, and protein percentage for both locations. Sowing depth with 3cm increased significantly the following characters i.e.: field emergence Percentage, leaf area, and no. of pods.plant-1, wt. of 1000 seeds, seed yield, and oil percentage for both locations. - Overlap between Taqa variety and sowing depth (3cm) led to significantly superior in growth, yield, and its components, i.e. field emergence Percentage, leaf area, no. of pods.plant-1, wt. of 1000 seeds, seed yield and oil percentage for both location.

Field experiments were conducted during pre kharif 2010, 2011 and 2012 to study the effects of phosphorus and sulphur on yield parameters, yield, nodulation and nutrient uptake of green gram. The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized block design with three replications having eight treatment combinations viz. four levels of sulphur (0, 20, 40, and 60 kg ha-1) as factor A and two levels of phosphorous (30 and 60 kg ha-1) as factor B. Experimental results revealed that yield attributing characters and seed yield of green gram were significantly influenced by phosphorus, sulphur and interaction effects of these two factors. Application of higher dose of phosphorus (60 kg ha-1) and increasing levels of sulphur up to 40 kg ha-1proved to be the best in improving the yield attributing characters and seed yield (1.62t ha-1)of green gram. Sulphur applied beyond 40 kg ha-1could not increase the parameters further. Application of sulphur 20 kg ha-1 significantly increased the active nodule no. and nodule dry weight of green gram and there after applied S beyond 20 kg ha-1the mean nodule production reached a more or less plateau pattern and application of lower dose of phosphorus without sulphur drastically reduced the nodule dry weight. Interaction of higher dose of phosphorus and higher dose S found to have a negative impact on yield. Application of varying levels of phosphorus and sulphur significantly improved the nutrient uptake by green gram in a sulphur deficient soil. Sulphur acted synergistically with nitrogen and increased the uptake of other nutrients. Application of 60 kg P205 ha-1 and 40 kg Sha-1 proved to be most economic in green gram with NPV 4.59.

Field investigation was conducted at the Bahadari farm, College of Horticulture, Mandsaur during rabi 2009-10. Eighteen treatment combinations comprising of six varieties viz.,V1-Arkel, V2-Pusa Pragati, V3-Matar Ageta-6, V4-Kashi Nandini, V5- Kashi Shakti V6-Azad Pea-3 and three phosphorus levels P1-60kg P2O5/ha, P2-90 kg P2O5/ha and P3-120kg P2O5/ha were laid out in factorial randomized block design with three replications.Observations were recorded on growth, yield parameters, seed yield and quality. It was concluded that the variety Matar Ageta-6 was superior as indicated through seed yield and quality. Among the phosphorus levels there was increase in growth, yield parameters, yield and seed quality up to P3 (120 kg P2O5/ha) level but significant improvement was only up to P2 (90 kg P2O5/ha). Economic analysis of different treatments revealed that cost of cultivation was increased with increasing dose of phosphorus application irrespective of variety. Gross return, net profit and cost : benefit ratio were realised highest in variety Matar Ageta-6 with P3 (120 kg P2O5/ha) application. It was followed by the same variety under P2 (90 kg P2O5/ha) application.However, there was very marginal increase with P3 (120 kg P2O5/ha) over P2 (90 kg P2O5/ha).

Peanuts are a potential commodity to be developed in Indonesia after soybeans and green beans. Low peanuts seed production is an existing problem that must be solved, with one of the ways is fertilizing bokashi and P. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the interaction of bokashi and P fertilizer application on yield and seed quality of peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.). The experiment was started from Desember 2016 to April 2017, at the Ciparanje Experiment Field and Seed Technology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agricalture, University of Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, Sumedang, West Java. The experiment design used is a pattern of factorial randomized block design with two factors and three replication. The first factor is the dose of bokashi fertilizer with three levels, 0 5, 10 ton ha-1 and the second factor is the dose of P fertilizer with four levels, 0, 50, 75, 100 kg ha-1. The result showed that there is no interaction between bokashi and P on all of parameters. Application of Bokashi fertilizer and P fertilizer significantly on yield but not significantly on seed quality parameter. Bokashi fertilizer has an effect on increasing the weight of seeds per plant. Bokashi fertilizer with dose 5 ton ha-1 gave the best influence to the weight of seeds per plant. Effect of application of P fertilzer with dose 50 kg ha-1 gave the best effect on harvest index parameter. Keywords: bokashi, peanuts, phospahate fertilizer, seed quality

<p class="1Body">Two field experiments were conducted from 2012 to 2013 cropping seasons to evaluate the efficacy and also determine the optimum rates of application for fish pond waste water in comparison with three other manures including one inorganic fertilizer and two organic manures under garden egg (<em>Solanum spp.</em>) crop.Garden egg was fertilized with pond waste water (PW), poultry manure (PM), pig manure (PG) and NPK15:15:15 at equivalent nitrogen (N) rates (0, 150, 300, 450 kg/ha). The treatments were arranged in a split plot under randomized complete block design (RCBD).The results obtained indicated a slight drop in soil pH but soil OM, total N, available P, exchangeable Ca and K increased generally with increasing rates of manures. The PW and PG treatments supported significantly (P&lt;0.05) the highest yields of the crop compared to PM and NPK with the 150 and 300 kg/ha treatments recording the highest increase. These results have shown that under the high rainfall and acidic soil conditions of Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria, PW is useful for the improvement of soil conditions and achievement of higher crop yields when applied at rates that supply N in the range of 150 – 300 kg/ha.</p>

Squash seeds yield and quality can be improved by proper population plant spacing and the pollen quantity, which influences the pollination quality and fertilization. Nine experiments were conducted as a factorial combination of three spacing between plants (0.8 x 0.3, 0.8 x 0.6 and 0.8 x 0.9 m), two quantities of pollen (50% of an anther and another entire one) and natural insect pollination. Seed and fruit production parameters, and seed quality were evaluated. A randomized complete block design, five replications, with ten plants per plot was adopted. Larger plant spacing increased the average number of mature fruits and seed yield per plant. Seed yield was directly proportional to the amount of pollen used during pollination. Higher amounts of pollen resulted in higher seed yield per area, but the plant spacing did not affect this characteristic. Manual pollination, using a whole anther, did not differ from natural pollination in relation to seed yield and quality.

Study was conducted in 2006 and 2007 cropping seasons at the experimental field of Federal University of Technology, Minna (9o 401N and 6o 301E), in the Southern Guinea Savanna of Nigeria to determine the effects of N fertilizer and the fruit positions on fruit and seed yield of okro. The treatment comprised factorial combination of five nitrogen levels (0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg/ha) and five fruit positions on a mother-plant (3, 5, 7, 9 and 10) which were replicated three times and laid in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The results indicated that significant taller plants were recorded in the plots that received 120 kg N/ha while shorter plants were recorded in plots that received 0 N/ha in both years of the study. The higher N level of 120 kg/ha and lower fruit position of 3 significantly gave higher number of fruit yield while the yield decreased with decrease in N level and increase in fruit position on the mother-plant. Similarly, heavier fruits were recorded in lower fruit positions and higher N levels. The fruits formed at the lower position 3 and 5 produced more seeds with higher seed weight than those formed at the higher positions. The results also showed that significantly higher seed yield was recorded at N level of 120 kg/ha ?.
