Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fraksi dietil eter ekstrak etanol buah mangga arumanis memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 75,22 ppm dan 1,18 ppm untuk Vitamin C. Fraksi dietileter ekstrak etanol buah mangga Arumanis memiliki potensi lemah sebagai antioksidan jika dibandingkan dengan Vitamin C. Kata Kunci: antioksidan, fraksi dietileter, buah mangga arumanis, Mangifera indica, DPPH ABSTRACT Antioxidant systems are part of the immune system which is able to inhibit the reactivity of free radical. Source of natural antioxidants is a fruit that is mango Arumanis. Process of fractionation with solvent diethylether to extraction the compounds semipolar and expected to have potential as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of diethyl ether fraction of ethanol extract Arumanis mango (Mangifera indica L.) with DPPH method. Extraction used ethanol 70% by maceration method, then partitioned using a liquid-liquid partition with diethylether as a solvent. Determination of antioxidant activity using DPPH method with a series of concentrations of diethyl ether fraction of ethanol extract Arumanis mango ie 12.5; 25; 50 and 100ppm. Vitamin C used as a reference solution with a concentration series of 0,625; 1.25; 2.5 and 5 ppm. The results showed that the diethyl ether fraction of ethanol extract Arumanis mango have antioxidant activity with IC50 value of 7.22 ppm and 1.18 ppm for Vitamin C. Diethylether fraction of ethanol extract Arumanis mango has weak potential as a antioxidant, if compared with Vitamin C. Keywords: Antioxidants, diethylether fractions, arumanis mango fruit, Mangifera indica, DPPH.

Elfirta RR, Falah S, Andrianto D, Lastini T. 2018. Identification of active compounds and antifungal activity of Toona sinensisleaves fractions against wood rot fungi. Biodiversitas 19: 1313-1318. Inhibitory activities of surian or toon (Toona sinensis) leavesfraction origin Sumedang, West Java, Indonesia against wood rot fungi (Ganoderma boninense IPBCC 10.658, Trametes versicolorInaCC F200, and Phanerochaete chrysosporium IPBCC 93.259) were studied. The samples were macerated using methanol andacetone. The results of brine shrimp lethality test (BSLT) showed that the methanol extract had the highest cytotoxicity of LC50 at 29.76μg/mL and inhibit the growth of G. boninense (27.78%), T. versicolor (79.26%) and P. chrysosporium (81.11%). The methanol extractwas then subsequently fractionated using n-hexane, diethyl ether, and ethyl acetate respectively. The diethyl ether fraction was found tohave the highest inhibitory activity against T. versicolor (46.30%) and P. chrysosporium (81.11%). This fraction was further separatedusing column chromatography and analyzed using thin layer chromatography (TLC), which gave six fractions. Antifungal test exhibitedthat fraction 5 had the highest antifungal properties against T. versicolor (74.07%) and P. chrysosporium (80.37%). Inhibition of P.chrysosporium resulted in abnormal growth of hyphae morphology as indicated by changes in its growth direction and excessive hyphaebranching. Additionally, the results of LC-MS/MS experiment indicated toon leaves fraction 5 which contains N-[2- (DGlucopyranosyloxy)ethyl]-2-hydroxy-N-[2hydroxy3 (octadecyloxy) propyl] butanamide dan Brucine compounds that were regarded as theantifungal compounds.

Zizyphus spina-christi (Rhamnaceae family) is an edible plant used in folk medicine. Therefore, it is of interest to report the cytotoxic effects of Z. spina-christi bark crude extract on human cell lines. Crude ethanol extract of Z. spina-christi bark was fractionated with increasing polarity (diethyl ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and butanol fractions). The fractions were examined for their cytotoxicity against human colon cancer (HCT-116 and CACO-2), cervical cancer (HeLa and HEp-2), lung carcinoma (A-549), hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG-2), breast cancer (MCF-7) and prostate cancer (PC-3) cell lines using viability assay. Diethyl ether fraction of Z. spina-christi showed the highest cytotoxic effects among the four extracts of Z. spina-christi. The IC50 of diethyl ether fraction was 7.14, 11.2, 11.6, 15.4, 39.8, 42.2, 84.2 and 153.8 Ĵg/ml on HepG-2, A-549, CACO-2, HCT-116, MCF-7, PC-3, HeLa, and HEp-2 cell lines, respectively. Data shows that the diethyl ether fraction of Z. spina-christi showed effective cytotoxic effects in colon, lung and hepatocellular cancer cell lines.

This paper represents the antifungal property of the crude rhizomatous extract of Curcuma caesia Roxb. and leaf extract of Ixora coccinea L. against Botrytis cinerea. First, the crude extract from two different plants were taken separately for antifungal screening and then both the extract used simultaneously to evaluate the better efficiency of the herbal formulation. The extract mixture shows higher efficiency in respect to antifungal potentiality than either of the plant when used solely. After that, I performed sequential solvent partitioning of the extract mixture to locate which fraction actually carries the antifungal one. Diethyl ether fraction was found to contain some bioactive phytochemical(s) that can be of ecofriendly use to control the spreading of this plant pathogen

One of the most characteristic features of cancer cells is their ability to metastasia. It is suggested that the modifications of the structure and properties of cancer cells surfaces play the main role in this process. The present work was aimed at finding out what ultrastructural features apear in tumor in vivo which removal of individual cancer cells from the cell population can provide. For this purpose the cellular interactions in the normal human thyroid and cancer tumor of this gland electron microscopic were studied. The tissues were fixed in osmium tetroxide and were embedded in Araldite-Epon.In normal human thyroid the most common type of intercellular contacts was represented by simple junction formed by the parallelalignment of adjacent cell membranees leaving in between an intermembranes space 15-20 nm filled with electronlucid material (Fig. 1a). Sometimes in the basal part of cells dilatations of the intercellular space 40-50 nm wide were found (Fig. 1a). Here the cell surfaces may form single short microvilli.
