AbstractReadings of the denouement of We differ sharply, with important consequences regarding the fate of utopian social construction. Many readers claim that the Single State crushes the MEPHI revolt. Others come to precisely the opposite conclusion. A third group argues that the battle is undecided. The film scenario Zamiatin developed and translated subsequent to his 1931 exile indicates the author opted for the second verdict, one indicating the fall of the regime. Written at least a decade after the novel, the Russian language scenario and its two English translations – published here – may only reflect his later opinions on the heretofore ambiguous ending of his novel.

The results of the study of the chronotope in Russian-language compositions based on the novel about Robinson’s adventures are presented. The material for the work was A. E. Razin’s novel “The Real Robinson” (1860) and Lev Tolstoy’s story “Robinson” (1862). The issues of the specifics of the representation of the chronotopic in the works of Russian writers are considered. The relevance of the study is due to the appeal to the universal of the chronotope, which contains an exhaustive toolkit for the artistic embodiment of images of space and time; as well as the search for new methods of literary analysis of the text. It is shown that in the analyzed texts, a kind of fusion of Russianlanguage compositions with a foreigncultural text in the aspect of a chronotope is realized. The similarities and differences in the rethinking of the story of Robinson are shown on the example of the model of textual connexity, the national specifics of the representation of the image of Robinson are indicated. It is noted that the external and internal chronotopes are retransmitted from work to work and create the basis for the emergence of the author’s intentions. It is proved that chronotopic analysis allows one to form an idea of the peculiarities of the Russian-language interpretation of the story of Robinson.

The relevance of the study: The relevance of the study is conditioned by the necessity to popularize the Russian language in classes with a foreign audience by referring to Russian classical literature (on the example of the novel "A Hero of Our Time" by M.Y. Lermontov) with the use of innovational education technology of graphic and symbolic analysis of fiction. The purpose of the study is to create a system of lessons on the analysis of the novel "A Hero of Our Time" by M.Y. Lermontov for teaching the Russian language to a foreign audience with the application of modern technologies of teaching Russian literature to foreigners, using innovational teaching forms such as graphic symbols and key concepts reflecting the history, philosophy, traditions, and customs of the first quarter of the 19th century. Methods: The main method of study used for this problem is a creation of a graphic and symbolic system of analysis for the novel "A Hero of Our Time" by M.Y. Lermontov during Russian language classes for foreign students that would allow viewing this problem as an innovational method of teaching the Russian language to foreigners on the material of fiction. Results: The paper presents a system of graphic and symbolic analysis of the work of fiction, demonstrates the features of its application, develops an algorithm for the implementation of this system into teaching Russian to foreigners. Practical significance: The proposed system of graphic and symbolic analysis of a work of fiction in the context of teaching Russian to foreigners is an effective form of mastering the educational material for students which contributes to their realization of the communicative and linguoculturological competencies.

Still relevant today via mobility and the multicultural environment as the constitutive elements of our globalized societies, the reflections around “the cumbersome problem of the genius of languages” (Cassin 2016) join and enrich the question of living together and building oneself. In the field of literature or human sciences, the thought of the practice of languages in a situation of diglossia has forged an imaginary which often connects the passage from one language to another to a balance of power and a tension of identity. We propose an analysis of the symbolic values of the dilemma between the Romanian language and the Russian language which is at the heart of the diegesis of the novel Grădina de sticlă [The Glass Garden] by Tatiana Țîbuleac. Published in Romanian by Éditions Cartier de Chișinău and translated into several languages, including French and Spanish, the book was awarded the European Union Prize for Literature in 2019. The fictional world and the language of writing describe a symbolic abyss: the author describes in Romanian the fight with the Russian of a Moldovan orphan who is trying to rebuild herself between the two languages. In a very colorful style, the novel deploys a po(ï)etics of “between”, which also has a political dimension.

The purpose of the study is to identify neologisms and occasionalisms as special words and phrases that characterize the author’s idiostyle; to show their origin; to explain their difference and similarity; to clarify the terminology. The aim of the study is to show new words and combinations of words in the General fabric of the author’s text and explain their use and purpose; to trace the dependence of the number of neologisms and occasionalisms on the conditions of creation of the work and the initial idea of the author. The method of linguistic research is the use of electronic and corpus technology in the study of literary text. Standard spelling program allows you to see in the text of neologisms and occasional, which stand out as different from the norm of literary language. Then the linguistic analysis of innovations is carried out and their classification is made on the basis of similar signs on etymology, word formation and morphological, semantic and phraseological modification. Take into account the precedent of the creation of the neologism occasionalism or due to the Cabinet technology. Clarification of terms to describe the language of the writer and his creative manner leads to a unification of understanding neologisms and occasionalisms in context due to the usage of the author, allowing you to create a special vertext in understanding any text. This is expressed in the anticipation of the perception of the text and in a concise and capacious characterization. Quantitative picture of neologisms-occasionalisms in all the works of Dostoevsky and every in the long term makes it possible to compare how different works of the writer and of works of different authors in the synchrony and diachrony of the Russian language. The research initially is the text of the story “Little hero”, which was written during the imprisonment in the Peter and Paul fortress, that is special for a person and writer extreme conditions of stress, and then drawing the material of other works presenting meaningful, chronological and quantitative interest on the use of neologisms and occasionalisms. This fixation of the reader’s attention on the vanishing moment makes it necessary to create a new word or phrase in the event that the main character of the story becomes invisible, small, almost disappearing. Psychologically, this technique can be explained by the revival of the author’s self-consciousness after severe stress. The phenomenon of the “The Little hero” is in the vanishing hero, and therefore in the vanishing author.

This chronological survey of English translations of Notes from Underground covering the years 1913–2014 evaluates the treatment of the text from various, often contradictory, perspectives. Well-known and unknown translators and editors offer sometimes opposing versions of the text aided by various ancillary materials which range from biographical information to a detailed chronology of Dostoevsky’s life plus excerpts from contemporary documents and modern critical evaluations. A number of the translations are designed expressly for students, others for those with limited or no knowledge of Dostoevsky, Russian history or the Russian language. No single introduction or translation emerges as the most insightful or accurate, although those of the last two decades are more idiomatic. Influencing this is often the background of the editor or translator. American editors focus on the context of Dostoevsky’s creation, English or Russian editors concentrate on the core elements that emphasize either the Russian literary tradition or late 19th century Russian politics and its importance for Dostoevsky’s conception of the story. Almost all editors consider the narrative experimentation of the work and the structural differences between Parts I and II. A number of the editors also address the Existential quality of the text, while translators confront the difficulties of capturing Dostoevsky’s sometime idiosyncratic prose.

Against the background of explicit ways of expressing comparisons in their broad understanding (as constituents of the functional-semantic field of comparativeness), this article considers the indirect presence of assimilations, the "target" of which are the characters of L. Ulitskaya's novel The Kukotsky Enigma and the related signed circumstances of the time being depicted. It is shown how comparisons by similarities implicitly expressed in the novel reflect the idiostylic features of the author, inclined to the detailed and often veiled expression of the severe aversion of the supporters of the Bolshevik ideology that defends the pseudoscientific "achievements" of the times of Soviet Power. The ways of representing content-subtext information in contexts with implicitly expressed assimilations, that is: the use of alogisms, allusions, metaphor-metonymic uses, antonyms, evaluative enantiosemia, "samples" of Soviet rhetoric with the "modus of importance", verbal play on the associative-derivational basis. The description of implicit assimilations in the language of the novel by L. Ulitskaya is preceded by brief explanations of the structure of the functional-semantic field of comparativeness in the Russian language, according to V. P. Berkov [1996], and the position of metaphors (as a mediated comparison by similarity) in this field. The article presents the forms of expressions for explicit comparatives and non-labeled comparatives (instrumental and genitive assimilations, nominal comparative predicate). Non-labeled comparatives are on the boundary between traditionally understood comparison and metaphor; the differences between metaphor and these syncretic forms of comparativeness are also identified.
