Adaptive teaching for GCSE and A level classical literature

The new ITT Common Core Framework (CCF) for teachers expects trainee and early-career teachers to adapt their teaching to support all students in class (Department for Education, 2021). What used to be called ‘differentiation’ is now referred to as ‘adaptive teaching’ and full details of what it consists of, as far as the Department for Education in England is concerned, can be found on pages 19–20 of the CCF document. Much of the advice of that document is about supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities, about teachers’ need to recognise that different students have different levels of prior attainment and may have barriers to learning, and how different types of student grouping may affect learning in different ways. It dismisses as a ‘common misconception’ that students have different learning styles and warns against teachers creating ‘distinct tasks for different groups of pupils’ or ‘setting lower expectations for particular pupils’.

This paper emphasis on the third situation where the detailed discussion has been made in the light of the mentioned book in the title to draw the neat and clear line of action for the practiced Muslim along with the provision of different narrations and Shariah rulings in order to interpret the reality and to avoid all sort of confusions.

The literary works of the Bulgarian canonical writers shed light on the various types of mental health issues through topic variations and viewpoints in psychiatry and psychoanalysis. The article discusses some of the most iconic figures in the local classical literature such as Ivan Vazov, Kiril Hristov, Elin Pelin, Georgi Stamatov, Geo Milev, Aleksandar Vutimski, Aleksandar Gerov, Pavel Vezhinov, Ivan Radoev, Dobromir Tonev and Boris Hristov, trying to answer the question if their fiction definitions can moderate or depict psychotic disorders, drawing a relevant conclusion about the status of our knowledge of the etiology and meaning of schizophrenia.

Classical Literature in Poet Kannadasan’s Cine Songs

Classical literature and Kannadasan's screenplay are two literary elements of the same language. Classicism has deeply influenced Poet Kannadasan. The impact of such literature on literary critics is inevitable. The rich ideas of classicism abound in Kannadasan's screen music. Tolkappiyam is the oldest of the available. Classicism is younger than that. The literature between the two disappeared over time. At that time, Tolkappiyam and Sevvilakkiyam revived Tamil. During this period, Kannadasan's screen songs have flooded the Tamil language. The lyrics and techniques contained in the classic and Kannadasan's screen compositions are like an ocean. This article describes some of the virtues of having peace in the depths of such an ocean.

Methods of translation culture-specific vocabulary into English in translation of Russian classical literature (on the example of A. Chekhov’s stories)

Translating a text, especially when it comes to fiction, one of the main problems is to find appropriate and qualitative methods of translating culture-determined words. Therefore, a number of decisions made by the translator defines how a given text will be perceived by readers of a different culture. This article presents a comparative analysis of the culture-specific vocabulary of the original Russian text and the text of the translation, followed by the identification of vocabulary features given in the original text and the methods of its translation into English.

Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man Discussing Narratives of Domestic Abuse and Gaslighting through the Cassandra Myth

Renowned for its hard-hitting exploration of gaslighting and domestic abuse, Leigh Whannell’s 2020 film The Invisible Man has inevitably been linked to the #MeToo movement. Despite the film’s contemporary premise, however, its narrative of male violence and female silencing is fundamentally rooted within classical literature and can be seen as an appropriation of the Cassandra myth. This article will be reviewing the continued relevance of the Cassandra myth today and the impact of her appearance within the horror movie genre. It will identify how Cassandra’s narrative as a truth-speaker, who is met with disbelief, has been appropriated for both thematic and critical effect. It will also consider the gendered implication of truth-speakers in horror and the impact of representing a female Cassandra onscreen to critique gendered issues, such as female silencing, domestic abuse, and gaslighting. By applying the classical figure of Cassandra to Whannell’s The Invisible Man, this article will continue by highlighting the patriarchal mechanisms which have historically dictated the reliability of female truth-speaker, thus connecting modern truth-speakers to their ancient counterparts.

Nimba (Azadirachta Indica) Pratisaraneeya Teekshna Kshara: A Comprehensive Review

Ayurveda promises, a disease free, happy and long life. Among the eight branches of Ayurveda, each branch consists of enormous knowledge from basic concepts up to critical health care strategies. Shalya tantra a prime branch in Astanga Ayurveda is the rich in many aspects of modern surgical concepts. This branch has immense potential to belt the solution of many challenging and unresolved complicated surgical ailments. Acharya Sushruta the pioneer in the field of surgery described four principles therapeutic types in the management of Arshas i.e., Bheshaja, Kshara karma, Agni Karma and Shastra Karma. Ayurvedic approach especially Kshara Karma stood for better than modern therapeutic option in terms of safety, easy, low cost, devoid of post operative complications and can be done as OPD procedure with minimal set up. Nimba pratisaraneeya kshara has been mentioned throughout the classical literature for Arsha, described as an Upakrama and is substitute for surgical procedure. Nimba pratisaraneeya teekshna kshara which is having antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties and is specially told by Acharya Sushruta. It can be successfully used in the management of Ardra Arshas without any post operative complications. Pratisaraneeya kshara is external application of Kshara whereas internal use of Kshara is known as Paniya kshara. Acharya Dalhana the commentator of Sushruta explained that the substance which produces Shodhana of bodily Dosha, Dhatu, Maladi because of its Ksharana action is called Kshara. It is known as Kshara (alkali) also because of its corrosive nature (Ksharana) Kshara is having benefits like Chedana, Bhedana, Lekhana, Shodhana and Ropana properties with early hemostasis and total eradication of infection, so that it reduces recurrence, helps for the wound healing and also the duration of treatment is less. Though many researchers have been carried on Nimba till date, this review is done to highlight the significance of Kshara property in Nimba along with its therapeutic use

The Reading Circle in the Tomsk Province in the Second Half of the 19th — Early 20th Centuries

The article is devoted to study of the reading circle of various population groups in the Tomsk Province in the second half of the 19th — early 20th centuries. The book, as an important attribute of the spiritual realization of society, took a leading place in the system of cultural values of the era, became the most important means of human communication. A great contribution to the development of the cultural life of the Altai district was made by the technical and scientific activities among the poor. The study of book collections of exiles, their activities in opening libraries, which were based on private collections, contribute to the expansion of ideas about the nature and scope of their versatile activities. The end of the 19th — early 20th centuries is characterized in Siberia by the social activity of various segments of the population, an increase in the need of society for a printed word. Thanks to the active work of the «Society for the Promotion of the Construction of Rural Free Libraries», in the Tomsk Province, free rural libraries began to open. They completed their main task in distributing the book in the remote settlements of the Tomsk Province. In Siberia, there is a change in the traditional way of peasants in connection with the heyday of the cooperative movement, the alleged dissemination of the theoretical and practical knowledge. The cooperatives began to organize libraries. The important qualitative changes in reading preferences are gradually taking place: classical literature, specialized books and periodicals are in increasing demand.

Review on Standardization of Ayurvedic Medicine

Standardization in Ayurvedic formulations ensures the establishment of standards for the quality and purity of raw materials, quality control during the drug manufacturing process, production of a good quality finished product, storage and distribution to maintain the quality of the final product. It is an essential tool for establishing quality control methods for Ayurvedic drugs. In Ayurveda, standardization has been well defined and documented in the classical and contemporary texts. Still, these have been written with an individualistic intent and not for industrial or commercial purposes. Careful contemplation of the classical literature of Ayurveda was done, the current guidelines of WHO on standardization of herbal drugs, latest researches on the same via the internet were explored and examined in the purview of the newest standardization procedures. In this article, an attempt has been made to bring to light the classical references related to standardization, the milestones in this on-going pursuit have been exhibited, with the use of the latest scientific methods being incorporated for a standardized Ayurvedic drug. It can be concluded from the review that standardization in Ayurveda is an on-going process where one needs to be strictly vigilant about the new scientific methods to study the fine chemical procedures and the intermediate compounds formed, but at the same time be aware of the classical. Asava-arista's medicinal characteristics of Ayurvedic classical dosage forms, liquid dosage forms based on self-generated alcohol with faster absorption, long shelf life, and increased market conformity have led to a continuous rise in demand. The importance of standardization of such goods is underlined by these advances in manufacturing, distribution and storage. Therefore, it is of concern to examine the latest manufacturing situation and the standardization of the dosage type regarding the procedure and the consistency and effectiveness of the finished product. In addition to the effort to include criteria of consistency and standardization, the study consists of an overview and deliberates on the importance of improvements made to the conventional preparation processes, ingredients and material used in the process and the potential impact on its efficacy.
