Abstract Background: Ante natal care is a key entry point for a pregnant woman to receive abroad range of promotion and preventive health services. Objective: was to assess the quality of antenatal care services at public health facilities of western Ethiopia. Methods: Facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted from May 30th to June 30th, 2016. All public health facilities in the zone were audited, 316 medical records were reviewed, and 316 pregnant women were interviewed. The data was entered using EPI Data version 3.1 and analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. Descriptive statistics, binary, and multiple logistic regressions were conducted. Variables with a P-value of <0.05 were considered as statistically significant predictors of the outcome variable. Results: A total of 316 pregnant women were enrolled in the study. All facilities were categorized as “good” by the possession of necessary equipment, 3/4 by basic amenities and 87.34% by general and gynecologic examination. The information was provided for 222(86.21%), which is categorized as poor.252 (79.7%) of the women were satisfied with ANC. A urine sample taken during ANC visit AOR 3.36(1.70, 6.61) and counseling on food eaten during pregnancy AOR 2.27(1.16, 4.45) were predictors of client satisfaction on ANC. Conclusions: The majority of pregnant women were satisfied with the ANC they received. A urine sample taken during the ANC visits and being counseled on the types of food eaten during pregnancy were predictors for client satisfaction on ANC. Concerned bodies need to improve laboratory tests and information provision.

ObjectivesThe study was aimed: (1) to describe the quality of antenatal care (ANC) at public health facilities in Northwest Ethiopia, including dimensions of the structure, process and outcome; and (2) to assess the relationship between ANC satisfaction and structure and process dimension of ANC quality.DesignCross sectional.SettingHealthcare facilities providing ANC services in Northwest Ethiopia.Participants795 pregnant women attending the antenatal clinics at 15 public health facilities and 41 health workers working for the surveyed facilities.Outcome measuresThe outcome variable, women’s satisfaction with ANC, was constructed from multiple satisfaction items using principal component analysis on an ordered, categorical and three-point Likert scale. The key hypothesised factors considered were structural and process aspects of care. Data were analysed using the partial proportional odds model with 95% CI.ResultsThe result revealed that only 30.3% of the pregnant women were highly satisfied, whereas 31.7% had a lower satisfaction level. The findings showed that process quality indicators better predicted client satisfaction. In relation to this, better scores in history taking (aOR1=aOR2; 1.81 (95% CI 1.25 to 2.60)), counselling (aOR1 = aOR2; 1.89 (95% CI 1.33 to 2.69)) and screening (aOR1= aOR2; 18.10 (95% CI 11.52 to 28.39)) were associated with achieving higher satisfaction. We also observed a significant but lower satisfaction among women in the late trimester of pregnancy (aOR1 = aOR2; 0.87 (95% CI 0.78 to 0.97)). However, we did not see any significant relationship between structural variables and client satisfaction.ConclusionsThe study demonstrated that women’s satisfaction with ANC was low. The contents of ANC services covered during client–provider interaction were the main factors affecting client satisfaction. This suggests that efforts are required to improve the competencies of health professionals to make them more effective while dealing with clients.

One of the efforts to improve health of pregnant women is ensure that pregnant women routinely carry out antenatal care. The motivation of pregnant women to carry out routine pregnancy checks needs to be balanced with quality Antenatal Care (ANC) so that pregnant women are satisfied and motivated to make the next visit. The results of Banyuputih Public Health Center reported  for the past three years showed that K4 visits have decreased. Especially in 2016 to 2017, from 106% to 68%. So it is important to do research quality of ANC with satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the quality of ANC services and the satisfaction of pregnant women in Banyuputih Public Health Center in Situbondo District in 2018. This research method was quantitative with cross sectional design. The population in this study were pregnant women who had performed ANC services at Banyuputih Health Center during 2018. The sample in this study were 61 people. Data collection was done using primary and secondary data. This research instrument was a questionnaire using a Likert scale. Data analysis was performed using chi square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between service quality, dimensions of Reliability (0,000), Responsiveness (0,007), Assurance (0,016), Emphaty (0,001) and Tangible (0,016) with patient satisfaction  Keywords : Quality, Antenatal Care, Satisfaction ABSTRAK Salah satu upaya peningkatan derajat kesehatan ibu hamil adalah dengan memastikan ibu hamil rutin melakukan pemeriksaan kehamilan.

The component of antenatal care received by pregnant women is classified as incomplete because the implementation of standard pregnancy services is still using conventional methods. There are obstacles faced by midwives, such as the limited time in a recording, which has an impact on the declining quality of antenatal care standards. This research aims to compare the effectiveness of the use of KIA books and MONSCA applications in midwives in the application of the standard Antenatal service 14 T. This research was conducted in Puskesmas Tanete and Puskesmas Bontobangun Bulukumba District. The method used in the study is experimental quasi (pre-test post-test nonequivalent control design). Using a sample of midwives in this study, as many as 36 people were divided into two groups (18 intervention groups and 18 control groups). The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney Test. The results showed that there was a difference in the effectiveness of using KIA books with MONSCA applications, MOSCA's applications were easier to use, faster, safer, and more accurate than KIA books. It can be concluded that the MONSCA application is more effective than KIA books. Key words: Effectiveness, Android-based Smart Continuity of Care application, KIA book, Antenatal service 14 T

Abstract Background Countries in Africa progressively implement performance-based financing schemes to improve the quality of care provided by maternal, newborn and child health services. Beyond its direct effects on service provision, evidence suggests that performance-based financing can also generate positive externalities on service utilization, such as increased use of those services that reached higher quality standards after effective scheme implementation. Little, however, is known about externalities generated within non-incentivized health services, such as positive or negative effects on the quality of services within the continuum of maternal care. Methods We explored whether a performance-based financing scheme in Malawi designed to improve the quality of childbirth service provision resulted positive or negative externalities on the quality of non-targeted antenatal care provision. This non-randomized controlled pre-post-test study followed the phased enrolment of facilities into a performance-based financing scheme across four districts over a two-year period. Effects of the scheme were assessed by various composite scores measuring facilities’ readiness to provide quality antenatal care, as well as the quality of screening, prevention, and education processes offered during observed antenatal care consultations. Results Our study did not identify any statistically significant effects on the quality of ANC provision attributable to the implemented performance-based financing scheme. Our findings therefore suggest not only the absence of positive externalities, but also the absence of any negative externalities generated within antenatal care service provision as a result of the scheme implementation in Malawi. Conclusions Prior research has shown that the Malawian performance-based financing scheme was sufficiently effective to improve the quality of incentivized childbirth service provision. Our findings further indicate that scheme implementation did not affect the quality of non-incentivized but clinically related antenatal care services. While no positive externalities could be identified, we also did not observe any negative externalities attributable to the scheme’s implementation. While performance-based incentives might be successful in improving targeted health care processes, they have limited potential in producing externalities – neither positive nor negative – on the provision quality of related non-incentivized services.
