Conjoint analysis has been used extensively in marketing research to estimate the impact of selected product (service) characteristics on customer preferences for products (services). In this paper we discuss findings obtained from a survey of commercial users of the methodology. We project that around 1,000 commercial applications have been carried out during the last decade. We discuss the manner in which the methodology is used commercially, remaining issues that deserve further exploration, and recent advances or insights obtained by researchers working in this area.

This paper describes some of the features of POSSE (Product Optimization and Selected Segment Evaluation), a general procedure for optimizing product/service designs in marketing research. The approach uses input data based on conjoint analysis methods. The output of consumer choice simulators is modeled by means of response surface techniques and optimized by different sets of procedures, depending upon the nature of the objective function.

Purpose – Asset management has recently gained significance due to emerging business models such as Product Service Systems where the sale of asset use, rather than the sale of the asset itself, is applied. This leaves the responsibility of the maintenance tasks to fall on the shoulders of the manufacturer/supplier to provide high asset availability. The use of asset monitoring assists in providing high availability but the level of monitoring and maintenance needs to be assessed for cost effectiveness. There is a lack of available tools and understanding of their value in assessing monitoring levels. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – This research aims to develop a dynamic modelling approach using Discrete Event Simulation (DES) to assess such maintenance systems in order to provide a better understanding of the behaviour of complex maintenance operations. Interviews were conducted and literature was analysed to gather modelling requirements. Generic models were created, followed by simulation models, to examine how maintenance operation systems behave regarding different levels of asset monitoring. Findings – This research indicates that DES discerns varying levels of complexity of maintenance operations but that more sophisticated asset monitoring levels will not necessarily result in a higher asset performance. The paper shows that it is possible to assess the impact of monitoring levels as well as make other changes to system operation that may be more or less effective. Practical implications – The proposed tool supports the maintenance operations decision makers to select the appropriate asset monitoring level that suits their operational needs. Originality/value – A novel DES approach was developed to assess asset monitoring levels for maintenance operations. In applying this quantitative approach, it was demonstrated that higher asset monitoring levels do not necessarily result in higher asset availability. The work provides a means of evaluating the constraints in the system that an asset is part of rather than focusing on the asset in isolation.

This essay explores the policy implications of the findings in this special section for potential remedies and opportunities for further research in the critical area of obesity. Children are an important focus here both because of the dramatic increase in childhood obesity in recent decades and because they lack the cognitive development and social experience to process marketing communications with the sophistication of adults. In addition, children's food purchase decisions are substantially influenced by their parents. Although packaged food marketers are setting their own voluntary restrictions on products to be marketed during entertainment content targeted at children, the impact of such restrictions is limited because children are substantial viewers of general entertainment content. This essay suggests that more prominent nutrition disclosure oriented toward obesity concerns for both packaged foods and fast-food restaurants should be more fully considered. It further suggests that increased marketing research is needed to better understand children as consumers, the role of parents as gatekeepers, and the differences between ethnic population segments. Marketing research also can contribute to the assessment of the effectiveness of different regulatory approaches adopted by various countries and the viability of mass educational approaches versus individual encouragement by parents, doctors, and others. The authors note that because obesity is a long-term health problem, a longitudinal tracking study would be useful in studying both health effects over time and the effectiveness of various policy interventions.

We have outlined the main aspects of the modern socio-economic space that have led to transformation not only in the business sector but also in human thinking. We have examined the aspects of the studied problem expressed in modern scientific works and explained the need for further study of changes in the thinking processes of consumers in the field of transformation of applied Internet marketing solutions for the requests of Internet users. We have analyzed the dynamics and trends of changes in Internet user behavior, thereby identifying the key aspects that should be taken into account when companies create online marketing strategies. We have proposed a list of steps to optimize the marketing strategy of the business in line with new realities.The relevance of the study is due to the social processes of modern society resulting in the tendency to transform consumers' thinking. COVID-19 and self-isolation have had an impact on this phenomenon, accelerating the massive changeover to online communication and online shopping.The goal of this article is to describe the results of a study of changes in consumer thinking in connection with the transformation of realities caused by the global pandemic.The scientific novelty of the study lies in highlighting the peculiarities of information perception by modern consumers associated with the global pandemic, and in substantiating the ways of transforming Internet marketing solutions for companies in an altered reality.The theoretical importance of the research lies in a better understanding of the reasons and features of the transformation of information perception by consumers in modern realities, as well as in the analysis of scientific works to study the impact of informatization and computerization on society thinking, which can be used to study this component in marketing research, including in online marketing. The article analyses the customer attitude towards the qualities and benefits of organic agriculture production for farmers and customers in the Czech Republic, comparing the situation in 2016 and 2019. More than 2500 respondents were subject to the marketing research in the years 2016 and 2019. The data were processed using correspondence analysis and logistic regression. The research study shows that the number of respondents who consider organic food is growing; at the same time, there is a rather large share of consumers who believe organic food to be of better quality. The results show a favourable change in the popularity of organic food. While, in 2016, the main decisive factor in shopping for organic food was its price, in 2019, the main criterion, for the respondents, was quality, with the criterion of price being complemented by the perception of organic food as healthier than conventional food. At the same time, it was established that, the amount spent on organic food in 2019 was higher than that in 2016. This finding was in positive correlation with the increase in respondents’ income. For farmers, organic farming is a promising alternative to conventional agriculture due to a rising demand for organic produce.

The article examines the features of information support for assessing the impact of business partners in the conditions of international economic activity. Methodical and practical recommendations for the procedure and accumulation of information about the company's partners have been developed. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study there are the works of the Ukrainian and foreign scientists, regulational and legislational laws of Ukraine for information support and evaluation of partnerships of the enterprise. The information factor affects economic growth, efficiency and employment. Information at the enterprise is mainly considered in the form of data collected and systematized in an acceptable form for use, capable of accumulating, sharing and updating. Recently, information is increasingly considered as one of the types of organizational resources that exist in the form of certain scientific knowledge, results of research and development, generalized indicators, norms, standards, recommendations, results of marketing research and more. An important condition for assessing the impact of environmental factors on the production and economic activities of the enterprise is the availability of timely and sufficiently complete information about events, processes, trends that occur in the external environment. The paper also considers the stages of the process of evolution of types of information about the partners of the enterprise, the strategic advantages of the management information system (MIS). It is proposed to develop an information letter about business partners, which is entered in the database and file, as well as to create database management systems. It is also advisable to create an information department at the enterprise, which in particular will assess the impact of the company's partners, as long-term partnerships create their own statistical database for decision-making by the company's management.
