A new type of canned motor pump with extensive application value is designed, researched, and developed in this article. In order to grasp the characteristic of the internal flow field of the pump, the internal flow field is simulated numerically by using FLUENT software with the standard k–ɛ turbulence model, SIMPLEC algorithm, and multiple reference frame model. The distribution of the pressure and velocity of the flow in the canned motor pump is analyzed in different working conditions. Moreover, the head and efficiency of the pump is predicted based on the simulation results, which show that the head and efficiency of the canned motor pump in small flow rate will be better. The performance of the canned motor pump can be improved by appropriately increasing the outer diameter of the impeller and the base diameter of the volute. The results of the numerical simulation are in accord with theoretical analysis, which verifies the correctness of the numerical simulation. The investigations have important theoretical guiding significance for the design of the canned motor pump.

Due to the advantages of high head and no leakage, multistage canned motor pump is widely used in oil industry, chemical industry, national defense and atomic energy. In order to meet the needs of the market, the multistage canned motor pump is designed. This paper introduced the hydraulic design and structural design. In order to optimizing the performance of the pump, this paper designed and used multistage canned motor pump DBP15–50×8 as the research object. Three-dimensional model of the main flow passage components is built and the mesh is generated respectively by using Pro/E and ICEM software, and we calculated the whole internal flow field of the pump that was selected by using ANSYS CFX14.0 software, achieving the pressure and velocity distribution in the pump and the internal details of flow in impeller and other main flow components. The post-processing showed the fluid in sliding bearing section rotates around the shaft, so the local flow is disorder. The comparison of the performance prediction and the experiment shows that the error is low. The cavitating turbulent flow in the flow field was numerically simulated by using the cavitation model. The cavitation phenomena didn’t occur in the experiments. The condition meets the result of numerical simulation.

In order to regulate turbulence strength and determine airflow characteristics in a new dual-feed rotor spinning unit, the internal flow field is investigated. A computational fluid dynamics technique is employed to numerically study the three-dimensional model of the internal airflow in the new design. The effects of air velocity variation on turbulence strength, negative pressure, Re, and wall pressure distribution are investigated based on simulation data and previous studies. The results show that the turbulence strength and Re increased with increase in inlet air velocity. Pressure profiles inside the rotor varied significantly with positive pressure observed at the channel exits. Minimal inlet velocity maintains the flow field in the rotor interior below 100 m/s, which gives the ideal turbulence required to minimize yarn quality deterioration. The dual-feed rotor spinning unit showed more orderly streamline patterns with fewer vortices compared to the conventional one. The numerical simulation can provide insights on airflow studies and some guidelines for future prototyping and experiments to further improve the new design.

For preventing sand in underground oil, this paper structures a model of hydrocyclone with the inside cyclone and the outside one seriesing and describes how it works. By the TGrid procedures, the all of the hydrocyclone is meshed with the tetrahedral and the boundary conditions are determined. The methods of Three-dimensional numerical simulation in FLUENT are used to simulate the velocity field distribution, the pressure field distribution, the path lines of the separated medition characteristics of the separated medium and the phase distribution of the medium. The affect of the internal separated medition characteristics to the separated performance is analysed. Through the simulation, it is found that the spiral fin in the hydrocyclone can guide the fluid to produce a vortex flow to meet the purpose of separating the solid-liquid. There is no formation of the air column comparing with the conventional cyclone, so the internal flow field is more stable to conductive to the separation of the media. It provides a basis for the improvement of the cyclone.

The numerical simulation of internal flow field of a mixed-flow fan was carried out on the star-CD platform. Three-dimensional steady turbulent flow is calculated using the standard k-ɛ turbulence model, and the pressure distribution, velocity distribution and other important flow phenomenon inside the fan are obtained. The number of meshes has important influence on the result, meanwhile, fan inlet, impeller, outlet interact with each other. The results of numerical simulation can accurately analyze the fan flow field. The results of numerical simulation can accurately analyze the fan flow field structure, and provide guidance for further optimization and improvement of the fan.

Based on the design theory of liquid-solid two-phase flow centrifugal pump, a new type TLB600-700 desulphurization pump was designed with huge distortions blades design method and impeller inlet super long extension blades design method. Three-dimensional model of internal flow field in TLB600-700 desulphurization pump was built by software PROE5.0, and the three-dimensional unsteady numerical simulation of the internal flow field was calculated, which revealed that the rotor-stator interaction between rotating impeller and volute is the reason why unstable flow generated. Statics analysis was carried out on the impeller in the stationary flow state with the method of fluid-structure interaction, and results indicated that the impeller strength and stiffness meet the design requirements. External characteristic test results of TLB600-700 desulphurization pump showed that all parameters of desulphurization pump designed by innovative method meet design requirements; especially the pump efficiency was increased by 4.15% higher than Chinese national standard.

It researched a new type of intelligent thermostatic mixing valve which could keep the temperature and flux of the valve outlet water constant through the adaptive controller. It firstly established the mathematical model about angle - flux and angle - temperature of the valve. And then it based on thekεturbulence model and applied Fluent software to numerical simulation of the valve about the flow field. Finally, it compared the simulation results with the calculated value. The results show that they are basically consistent, prove the correctness of the theoretical research, and can be used to improve designing of the thermostatic valve.

In the present study, the effects of ventilator geometries on the its performance were numerically simulated using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) program. For a certain type ventilator, three-dimensional inner flow field was derived firstly, such as local flow field at the meridional and rotary plane of ventilator, the gap flow between the impeller and air outlet, and the secondary flows in impeller channel were studied in detail, and some suggestions are given to improve the profile of velocity. The above results would be helpful to the optimization and modification of ventilator.
