In this paper, an algorithm is described for the resolution of pipe networks with input and output conditions defined by pressure-flowrate correlations. The procedure and the main characteristics of the software are described. The method is particularly suited for solving pipe networks with boundary conditions defined by pressure-flowrate second-degree curves and during off-design operation. The code works with single-phase compressible and incompressible flow and a variety of fluids, including steam-gas mixtures. Heat transfer is also calculated for pipe elements and controls for steam condensation in steam or steam-gas networks are present. An application to a geothermal steam network power plant is included with comparison with experimental data.

In this paper is compared a proposal model for heat transfer calculations during fluid flow in single-phase inside tubes with others existing in the literature. This comparison used 3096 available experimental data of 36 different fluids. The proposal model is valid for a range from to  and 0.65 to  for Reynolds and Prandtl number respectively, dimensionless length values  and viscosity correction in the interval . The comparison proves that the suggested model presents the better index of correlation, being found an average error of 13.8% in the 80.6% of the experimental data and a maximum error of 24.6%.

An advanced three-dimensional model is developed to compute the temperature distribution in a wave journal bearing. The analysis takes into account the heat transfer between the film and both the shaft and the bush. The theoretical results are validated by comparison with experimental data.
