While there is a relatively extensive literature concerning the nature of smart cities in general, the roles of corporate actors in their production and the development and deployment of specific smart city technologies, to date there have been relatively few studies that have examined the situated practices by which the smart city unfolds in specific places. In this paper, we draw on three sets of interviews ( n = 114) and ethnographic fieldwork to chart the smart city ecosystem in Dublin, Ireland. We examine how the four city authorities have actively collaborated to frame a disparate and uncoordinated set of information and communication technology-led initiatives, what Dourish terms the ‘accidental smart city’, into an articulated vision of Dublin as a smart city. In particular, we focus on the work of ‘Smart Dublin’, a shared unit established to coordinate, manage and promote Dublin’s smart city initiatives and to drive new economic development opportunities centred on corporate interventions into urban management and living. Our analysis highlights the value of undertaking a holistic mapping of a smart city in formation, and the role of political and administrative geographies and specialist smart city units in shaping that formation.

The main objective of this study is to analyse importance of e-commerce in economic growth process. Therefore in this paper the attempt is made to examine the economic implications of e-commerce in India and Canada. So we can have a comparative picture of the role of e-commerce in economic growth in developing country like India and a developed country, Canada. E-commerce includes use of Internet and Information and Communication Technology. Both Internet and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) are components of infrastructure. Development of infrastructure directly contributes to economic development. Therefore the objective of this paper is also to study the role of ICT and Internet in economic development of India and Canada.

Abstract. The development of information and communication technology has spread throughout the world. Many benefits can be obtained, but the risks cannot be avoided. Communication grows massively in cyberspace and thus poses a security threat to smart city services. This threat can be overcome through national spectrum by implementing cyberspace security strategies in developing smart cities. This paper describes cybersecurity strategies performed in supporting the development of smart cities. Security strategies are developed based on factors related to the perspective of three pillars of smart city implementation models, namely technology, people, and institutions. Factors related to cybersecurity from these three pillars are explored from the experience of policy makers, actors, and users of smart city services, and evaluated using the opinions of cybersecurity experts and smart cities. This strategy will be a standard document that will be used as a reference in carrying out all processes related to information security in supporting the development of smart cities.

Introduction. In the extreme conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the vitality of supply chains has come to the fore, that is, their ability to self-support and survival in a changing environment through restructuring and rescheduling of productivity with long-term consequences. An effective information system and governance can help not only improve customer service and control costs but also facilitate planning to achieve key sustainability indicators such as environmental, economic, and social development. The purpose of this paper is to assess the impact of the widespread adoption of new digital technologies on the level of efficiency of supply chains in the face of disruption caused by the pandemic. Materials and Methods. For this study, statistical data were collected for the period from 2010 to 2019. Sources: Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development; The World Bank; Institute for Global Entrepreneurship and Development, etc. A logical-heuristic algorithm was used to form a system of indicators for assessing the effectiveness of information and communication technology and logistics. Results. It has been found that countries with a high level of economic development as evidenced by persistently high values of gross domestic product in the pre-crisis period show high indicators both in terms of the efficiency of logistics systems and in terms of digital transformation of the economy. At the same time, countries with low and below-average levels of economic development do not show high results in the context of logistics systems, but they also do not demonstrate a correlation between the level of economic development and the level of logistics efficiency and the level of digital life. Conclusion. Thus, the study has shown that the role of information and communication technology in improving the efficiency of supply chains becomes significant in favorable economic conditions in the country, and in times of crisis, the role of information and communication technology significantly increases and contributes to the restoration of supply chains and the survival of business in general.


Information and Communication Technology (ICT) stresses the role of unified communication and integration of telecommunications, intelligent building management systems and audio-visual systems in modern information technology. In the information age, using information is a prime issue. ICT includes of all technical means that are used to handle information and aid communication. It includes computer and network hardware, middleware and necessary software. Time accessibility of relevant information is vital for economic development of any country. The improvement of economic activity can be brought by improving capacity in terms of enhancing access to information, while also the technical nature of economic activities required that the knowledge of users are constantly updated which can be achieved through their enhanced information seeking behavior by the use of ICTs. Moreover, use of ICTs lead to innovation which further lead to the enhancement of economic growth and human resource development. Thus, the present paper highlights the role of information technology on economic development of the country as a whole. A period of fifteen years is considered for the study Information and Communication Technology index and Economic Development index has been constructed on the basis of Principal Component Analysis. A simple linear regression has also been conducted to examine the impact of ICT on Economic Development in India. Stationarity of the data set are also checked with the help of appropriate unit root testing technique such as Augmented-Dickey Fuller test. The result shows that there has been considerable impact of ICT on Economic Development in India. Policy suggestions are also given on the basis of the findings of the study

Tinjauan pustaka sederhadan dipilih sebagai metode kajian dimana pustaka-pustaka yang ada, baik artikel di jurnal maupun di nonjurnal, diambil, ditelaah dan dijadikan acuan dalam pembuatan model. Observasi terhadap perilaku masyarakat dan tokoh masyarakat, wawancara rahasia terhadap masyarakat, tokoh dan juga sejumlah pejabat eselon 3, dilakukan untuk memperkarya konten kajian dan segi-segi penyusunan. Laporan penelitian disusuntulis dengan urutan pendefinisian smart city, metode pengumpulan data, pemaparan dimensi-dimensi dan karakteristik smart city, serta kota-kota yang melaksanakan smart city, penjelasan bagaimana mewujudkan smart city dan peran akademisi dalam ikut mewujudkannya, kritik-kritik terkait konsep smart city, dan penutup berisi kesimpulan dan saran lebih lanjut untuk penerapan konsep smart city di Kota Serang, khususnya pelibatan para tokoh masyarakat dan peran kunci para akademisi.   Kata kunci: Smart city, Kota Serang, Akademisi, Green city, Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi   ABSTRACT This study aims to support the implementation of the concept of a smart city in Serang City, Banten Province, with the final result of the smart city application model. Simple literature review and selected as a study method in which existing libraries, both in journals and non-journals, are considered, reviewed and used in modeling Observations on the behavior of the community and community leaders, confidential interviews with the community, figures and also a number of echelon 3 officials, were carried out to work on the content of the study and the aspects of preparation. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is at the heart of the smart city approach, which constitutes the next level of cities’ and communities’ development across the globe. Thereby, ICT serves as the gluing component enabling different domains to interact with each other and facilitating the management and processing of vast amounts of data and information towards intelligently steering the cities’ infrastructure and processes, engaging the citizens and facilitating new services and applications in various aspects of urban life—e.g., supply chains, mobility, transportation, energy, citizens’ participation, public safety, interactions between citizens and the public administration, water management, parking and many other cases and domains. Hence, given the fundamental role of ICT in cities in the near future, it is of paramount importance to lay the ground for a sustainable and reliable ICT infrastructure, which can enable a city/community to respond in a resilient way to upcoming challenges, whilst increasing the quality of life for its citizens. A structured way of providing and maintaining an open and resilient ICT backbone for a city/community is constituted by the concept of an Open Urban Platform. Therefore, the current article presents the activities and developments necessary to achieve a resilient, standardized smart city, based on Open Urban Platforms (OUP) and the way these serve as a blueprint for each city/community towards the establishment of a sustainable and resilient ICT backbone.

If we want to convert our rural population into knowledge driven, progressive, self sufficient, self reliant, sustainable society, the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s) cannot be ignored. Timely availability information is considered as most important factor in Indian agriculture. At present ICT is the technology of this millennium. Transferring the developed technology to all end users is time-consuming and tiresome task and is often not completed due to paucity of resources and lack of manpower. In India, agriculture and rural development has gained significantly from ICT due to its widespread extension and adoption. In this era of internet, ICT is committed to provide real, timely accurate authentic information to the farmers and rural peoples.
