Introduction: The aim of the study was to assess the level of burden of caregivers of persons with dementia and to analyze the factors related to the sense of burden. Methods: The study group consisted of 58 caregivers with an average age of 54.7 (± 12.6) and 45 (78%) were women. The Caregiver Burden Scale, the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the Berlin Social Support Scale (BSSS), and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) were used. Results: In the study group, 93% could rely on help in caring for the patient, provided mainly by the family. Most caregivers demonstrated a medium level of burden (2.63 ± 0.61). A significant correlation was found between the level of caregiver burden and caregiving frequency, BSSS, BDI, and SWLS. Conclusions: A lot of factors influence the caregivers’ burden. It appears necessary to take into consideration the cultural, religious, and economic distinctiveness of the country in question.

Introduction. Satisfaction is a positive feeling, perceived subjectively. Assessment of life satisfaction is undertaken by comparing your own situation with the standards you set, your goals, objectives. Therefore, the measurement of satisfaction is based on individual criteria specific to each person. Aim. The study aims to determine satisfaction with life among nurses working in neurological wards. Material and Methods. The study was conducted in a group of 130 nurses working in neurological wards of hospitals in the Lublin Province. The vast majority of the study group constituted women (93.80%). Most respondents were aged between 36–50 years old (43.08%). The research used a standardized research tool: The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). Results. The examined group of neurological nurses assessed their satisfaction with life at an average level (20.66 ± 5.72 points). After converting points into sten values, the average was 5.56 ± 2.03 sten. Significant statistical differences in the assessment of life satisfaction were found in the material situation. The higher assessment was provided by nurses who were satisfied with their financial situation (21.70 points). Conclusions. The assessment of satisfaction with life among neurological nurses was at an average level. Selfassessment of the financial situation significantly differentiated the assessment of life satisfaction in the group of surveyed nurses. (JNNN 2019;8(4):157–161) Key Words: satisfaction with life, nurses, neurological wards

Abstract.DIFFICULTIES IN BREASTFEEDING IN THE FIRST MONTH OF LIFE: LIFE CONTEXTS IMPACTBackground: Breastfeeding is determined not just organically but also involves emotional and socio-cultural factors. Objectives: Identify the most frequent difficulties associated with breastfeeding in the first month of life of the baby; Evaluate the relationship between difficulties in breastfeeding and satisfaction with life; Analyze the relationship between difficulties in breastfeeding and sociodemographic variables. Methods: A quantitative study, descriptive, correlational. The data were collected through a questionnaire, applied in two moments, at 7 and 30 days of the baby’s life, which allowed the sociodemographic and breastfeeding characterization. It also includes Satisfaction with Life Scale (Simões, 1992). The sample is not probabilistic for convenience, made up of 255 mothers who breastfeed, entered in the Family Health Units and Custom Health Care Units in the central region of Portugal. Results: Participants have an average age of 20.7 years, mostly married, with education less than the 3rd cycle, and residents employed full time in the city. As for the most common problems associated with breastfeeding in the two stages of evaluation that women had the 7th day and continued to be the 30th day, the fissures predominate (77.5%), breast engorgement (66.7%), mastitis (63.6%) the difficulties in the handle (82.4%), the position and posture for nursing (50.0%). The difficulties in breastfeeding are not related to satisfaction with life. Conclusions: In view of these results, and knowing that women have difficulties with breastfeeding in the two time points, it is important the support from nurses so that they can overcome them and do not constitute a repudiation of reason breastfeeding. Keywords: Breastfeeding; Difficulties; Maintenance; Life Satisfaction.

Abstract Saudade is a psychological reaction to the absence of significant others or familiar places. The correlates of the experience of saudade were examined using a sample of Portuguese adults. Two hundred and twenty-seven participants of both genders, aged 20–65, were presented with (a) the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), (b) the Positive and Negative Affect Schedules (PANAS), (c) the brief Loneliness Scale (ULS-6), (d) the Neo Five-Factor Personality Inventory (NEO-FFI), and (e) an experience of saudade two-item scale. Experience of saudade was more often reported by females than by males, and positively correlated with negative affect, loneliness, and neuroticism.

The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) is the most commonly used measure for life satisfaction. Although there are numerous studies confirming factorial validity, most studies on dimensionality are based on small samples. A controversial debate continues on the factorial invariance across different subgroups. The present study aimed to test psychometric properties, factorial structure, factorial invariance across age and gender, and to deliver population-based norms for the German general population from a large cross-sectional sample of 2519 subjects. Confirmatory factor analyses supported that the scale is one-factorial, even though indications of inhomogeneity of the scale have been detected. Both findings show invariance across the seven age groups and both genders. As indicators of the convergent validity, a positive correlation with social support and negative correlation with depressiveness was shown. Population-based norms are provided to support the application in the context of individual diagnostics.

Abstract. The present research aimed at examining measurement invariance of the Serbian version of the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) across age, gender, and time. A total sample in Study 1 consisted of 2,595 participants from Serbia, with a mean age of 23.79 years (age range: 14–55 years). The final sample in Study 2 included 333 Serbian undergraduate students ( Mage = 20.81; age range: 20–27 years), who completed the SWLS over periods of 6 and 18 months after the initial assessment. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) supported the modified unidimensional model of the SWLS, with correlated residuals of items 4 and 5 tapping past satisfaction. The results of the multigroup confirmatory factor analysis supported the full scalar invariance across gender and over time and partial scalar invariance across age. Latent mean comparisons revealed that women reported higher life satisfaction than men. Additionally, adolescents reported higher life satisfaction than students and adults, with adults showing the lowest life satisfaction. Our findings indicate that the SWLS allows meaningful comparisons in life satisfaction across age, gender, and over time.

Organizational Justice has the potential to create major impact on organizations and employees alike. These include greater commitment, trust, enhanced job performance, more citizenship behaviors and less number of conflicts. It has been reported that employees seem to have a universal concern for Justice that transcends the self and that many are subject to biases at various point of time in their work life. Sometimes these biases lead to adverse outcomes including decreased level of subjective well-being. Subjective well-being is a broad category that includes life satisfaction, positive affect, and low negative affect, such as anger, sadness and fear. Thus to study the relationship between Organizational justice and subjective well-being, a sample of 88 employees working in Private Universities of NCR region were examined. For this purpose, the Organizational Justice scales consisting of Measure of Procedural & Interactional Justice and Distributive Justice Index scale by Moorman, Blakely & Niehoff (1998) and Subjective Wellbeing Scales inclusive of the Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS),Scale of Positive and Negative Experience(SPANE) and Flourishing Scale (FS) by Ed Diener (2004)were used. Results indicate significant relationship between the three types of Organizational justice and subjective well-being of employees.
