This work examines the terms most frequently used to describe our field, which has variously been named Ergonomics, Human Factors, Human Factors Engineering, and Engineering Psychology. A large number of definitions were collected, including those assembled in an earlier technical report by Licht, Polzella, and Boff (1990). First, the definitions were stripped of connector words. Second, the prefix root terms that had the same meaning were combined and third, the words were tabulated and sorted to reveal the content terms most frequently employed. These data may be used to develop core, concise definitions or longer more expository descriptions of the field. The list of terms could also be used as a starting point for the development of definitions oriented for different target audiences (e.g., lay persons vs. other engineering/science experts) as a method of disseminating information concerning what we do.

Human factor and ergonomic has been a standardized as synonymous for a long time and has great potential to contribute in designing all kinds of systems with people. However, some opinions draw precisely distinctions among these terms. Numerous studies have been conducted in their attempt to understand the concept of human factor and ergonomic. The meaning of each term must be clearly understood before using them in any research to understand how human beings interact with surroundings. So, this paper seeks to review the definition of human factor and ergonomic. English articles and books dated as far 1970 were compiled from Taylor and Francis Online, Google Scholar and Science Direct. The keywords used in the selection of the articles are human factors, human factors engineering, ergonomics, industrial ergonomics, reviews, definition, difference and risk factors. A risk model related to each term is also provided to have more understanding towards it. Based on the finding of the literature review of human factor and ergonomic issue in pineapple plantation were explore and are categorized accordingly.

Based on the current status of the development of the chair on the market, taking human engineering research as the starting point of design, existing defects and problems of existing chairs as a starting point, so as to design a multifunctional fashion chair. It not only has the function of chairs, but also increases the function of modern subsidiary, make it better and more convenient to be used by modern people. So which not only improves the comfort of the chair and more humane. Chinese Economic Reform, china's national economy has been developing fast, people's living standard has been gradually improved. Now people are longing for a better life, this is also evident in the choice of daily furniture and requirements. In this paper, the existing problems in the use of chairs are investigated and analyzed. We redesign chairs with the concept of practicability and functionality, research the structure of the chair to expand the function of chairs. When it is placed in the home or office, it will has lots of application and is easy to be used.

More than 70% of accidents that occur in offshore oil and gas facilities stem from hydrocarbon explosions and fires, which result in serious consequences in association with health, safety and the environment. Most of these accidents are the result of a long chain of human error. To reduce accidents, therefore, the opportunities for human error and the effects of the errors should be minimized, by designing equipment and work systems in accordance with human factors engineering principles. For the last two decades, risk-based approaches as key disciplines of human factors engineering principles have more extensively been applied to offshore oil and gas projects. However, many challenges still lie ahead to develop pertinent engineering and design disciplines for the quantitative assessment and management of hydrocarbon explosion and fire risks. The aim of the present study is to develop a documented procedure for the quantitative assessment and management of hydrocarbon explosion and fire risks in offshore oil and gas facilities. In the present paper, the application of the developed procedure is demonstrated for an FPSO installation with the focus on the definition of explosion and fire design loads.

Based on the current market current situation of the development of multi-function, with the Human Factors Engineering research as the breakthrough point of the design, the existing defects and problems of the multifunctional sofa as a starting point, and designed a multifunctional sofa, it can not only perform the conversion of multi-function, but also can increase the more whistles and make it better and more conveniently used by modern families, especially in view of the family that the housing area is lesser. It can increase the utilization of the space, and raise interesting interaction between family members, increasing the emotion. With the improvement of living conditions, people begin to pay more attention to their own physical and mental health. As is known to all, sofa is the furniture that can be used to sit and lie. With the development of the society, the sofa also formed the different style and function. This article mainly starts from the multi-function of sofa, through the design of the structure, which can not only make sofa play it own functions, but also can make sofa become a place for children's activities and entertainment. Thus, it can help the family whose children are worried because of the lack of the recreation rooms, which make it not only have function, but also have certain ornamental feature and fashion sense

HFES oversees a variety of ergonomics and human factors standards activities including standards developed within HFES (e.g. HFES 100) and standards work outside of HFES such as ANSI and ISO. This session is intended to update HFES members on the standards work that HFES is involved. This year the emphasis will be on specific new standards work on topical areas. A new ISO Technical Report on human factors in robotic, intelligent and autonomous systems (RIA) will be introduced along with the work of the HFES liaison to the US Department of Defense HF/E TAG. There will be an update on the new work of the ASTM 48.02 on exoskeletons and exosuits. The work on the revised ANSI/HFES 100 Human Factors Engineering of Computer Workstations, which is nearing completion, will be discussed. An update on the ACGIH work on ergonomics standards will be reviewed.

One of the primary goals for members of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society should be to increase student awareness of the opportunities found in the field of human factors/engineering psychology. By increasing awareness of our discipline, we can improve our chances of attracting bright, talented, and energetic students to the various undergraduate and graduate programs around the country, which can only serve to enrich our profession and benefit society. Toward this end, we asked students at different levels of education what human factors and ergonomics meant to them. First, we assessed the awareness of the concept ergonomics in college-bound high school seniors. Second, we surveyed undergraduate students about their awareness of human factors/engineering psychology as a viable major. Third, current human factors/engineering psychology undergraduate and graduate students were asked why they chose to pursue this field of study. Implications for promoting the discipline of human factors/engineering psychology are discussed.
