In light of the gap in the national identity research, this study proposes, constructs, and examines the path to national identity by using a mixed-method approach. Study 1 collected 502 questionnaires from Chinese tourists, and Study 2 conducted semi-structured interviews with 15 tourists. The findings confirm that cultural and creative tourism contributes to the construction of tourists’ national identity. Tourists’ long-term implicit cultural memory and short-term explicit cultural learning are the double guarantees for forming tourists’ cultural identity. Importantly, tourists’ cultural identity plays a critical mediating role in promoting national identity. Moreover, the interactive effect of cultural experience and creative performance accelerates the construction process of tourists’ national identity. This study consolidates the sociopolitical significance of cultural and creative tourism for national identity through a rare mixed method and identifies the specific role of the cultural factors affecting national identity, thereby providing great theoretical contributions and practical value.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop and analyze a model of factors influencing interpersonal conflicts. Design/methodology/approach This research was conducted using a mixed method approach. In the qualitative study, the conceptual model of the factors affecting interpersonal conflicts was extracted from semi-structured interviews with 17 relevant experts using a theme analysis technique. Then, three hypotheses were developed based on the model and relevant theoretical evidence. Using a researcher-made questionnaire which was developed earlier based on the qualitative results, a quantitative-based survey was performed to assess the interpersonal conflicts and also the standard scale of the level of interpersonal conflicts (Jehn, 1997). The hypotheses were tested on a sample of 160 employees of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province Gas Company (CBPGC). Findings The results of the qualitative study indicated that individual factors including personality dimensions and individual differences; organizational factors including five dimensions of organizational culture, organizational structure, management characteristics, intra-organization factors and human resource systems; and environmental factors influenced the creation of interpersonal conflicts. The results of the quantitative study indicated that organizational factors with an effect size of 0.502 were identified as the most important factor influencing interpersonal conflicts. Research limitations/implications The findings of this study can provide a roadmap to managers of the CBPGC to be aware of the contributing factors to conflict within their organization. Originality/value The use of mixed method to identify the causes and factors of interpersonal conflict and analyzing a context different from previous studies can be considered as the innovations of this study.

The scientific knowledge related to online reading dispositions and factors affecting the occurrence of these dispositions is limited. Therefore, this treatise aims at studying the impact of metacognitive online reading strategies on online reading dispositions. To achieve this goal, the mixed method was employed using questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Students’ responses were keyed to AMOS software. The statistical analysis has shown students’ preference for utilizing support strategies to tackle the problems they might face while they engage with online materials. Reflection, as a disposition, was the most frequently reported by students through their responses to the questionnaires. Further, the results confirmed the impact of metacognitive online reading strategies on online reading dispositions, which was the aim of this paper. These findings provide a holistic understanding of the nature of the relationship between metacognition and dispositions, paving the way for further research that touch other aspects of online reading dispositions

Abstract Background Regular exercise and physical activities have shown to be beneficial especially in older adults to maintain their function. To reap these benefits, recommended exercises need to be adhered to. However, there is lack of consistency in the literature on what is the degree of adherence to home exercise programmes (HEPs) among older adults. Objective The purpose of this study was to explore factors affecting older adult patients’ adherence to HEP prescribed to them and how HEP was perceived by both older adults and physiotherapists. Design A mixed-method study design was used in this study Methods 28 older adults attending outpatient physiotherapy clinic were given an exercise journal to record their adherence to HEP prescribed by their physiotherapists for six weeks. Subsequently, semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven older adults and five physiotherapists. The interviews were audio recorded and transcribed. After which, the interviews were analysed using content analysis. Results 14 participants returned their exercise journal. The rate of adherence out of 42 days of HEP prescribed was 79.8% or 5.6 days per week. Only medium inverse correlation was found between risk of depression and HEP adherence. No significant correlation was found for cognitive function, self-efficacy to exercise, quality of life and mobility status. Four key themes consisting of perception to HEP, mode of delivery to HEP, barriers and facilitators of HEP adherence emerged from the data. Conclusion Older adults’ internal motivation is important to improve HEP adherence. External factors such as family support, companion while exercising, physiotherapists’ support in terms of designing likeable and easy HEPs, investigating reasons for non- adherence, modifying exercises and education on importance of adherence to HEPs could affect HEP adherence of older adults. Additionally, having more community based exercise classes are factors that could potentially promote adherence.

AbstractThe present paper is involved with the Pedagogical faculties’ students’ critique on the current educational system as it has been altered after 1981. The research was carried out utilizing both quantitative and qualitative tools. Students-voters participated in the interviews whereas active voters were difficult to be located to meet the research requirements. The dynamics of the specific political party is based on a popular profile in terms of standpoints related to economic, social and political issues. The research findings depict the students’ strong wish for a change of the curricula and a turn towards History and Religion as well as an elevation of the Greek historic events, as the History books that have been written and taught at schools over the past years contributed to the downgrading of the Greek national and cultural identity. There is also a students’ strong belief that globalization and the immigrants’ presence in Greece have functioned in a negative way against the Greek ideal. Therefore, an overall change of the educational content could open the path towards the reconstruction of the moral values and the Greek national identity.

Nation branding plays a central role within neoliberal governmentality, operating as a technology of power in the configuration of emerging cultural and political formations such as national identity, citizenship and the state. The discussion of the advertising spot Perú, Nebraska  released as part of the Nation Branding campaign Marca Perú  in May of 2011, constitutes a great opportunity to: (i) argue about the way in which audiovisual advertisement products, designed as performative devises, operate as technologies of power; and (ii) problematize the terms in which it founds a new social contract for the Peruvian multicultural national community. This analysis will allow me to approach neoliberalism as a cultural regime in order to discuss the ideological nature of the uncontested celebratory discourse that has emerged in Perú and which explains the economic growth of the last decades as the outcome of a national entrepreneurial spirit that would be distinctive of Peruvian cultural identity.

Tourism has become one of the major players in ‎international commerce and represents one of the main income ‎sources for many developing countries at the same time. These dynamics have turned tourism into a key driver for socio-‎economic progress.‎ This article described the potential of tourism attraction and factor affecting the development of marine tourism area in the utilization zone of Manusela National Park. Semi-structured interviews, in-depth interviews and participant observations were conducted with respondent (n=110) in Bellarizky, Air Belanda, Ora Beach and Lizar Bahari resort. The potential of tourist attractions in the utilization zone of Manusela National Park is as a snorkeling, diving and point of view. Factors affecting the development are service, transportation, supporting facilities and tourism attractions.

Ivan Cankar (1876–1918), who occupies an honorable place in the Slovenian cultural canon, once changed the course of development of Slovenian literature and influenced the formation of national identity. The national narrative of Cankar was based on contradictions: living far from his people, he sometimes glorified them and sometimes attacked them with heavy criticism; he correlated his homeland with his mother, the mother though being dead. Cankar’s concentration on the subject of mother and homeland is interpreted here in the framework of psychoanalysis. Following Slavoj Žižek, the author develops the idea that it was the mother who became the Symbolic Order representative or Super-Ego for the writer. The concept of “Cankar’s mother”, which became a symbol of self-sacrifice and at the same time repressiveness in the Slovenian cultural space, is considered.
