Erythrina is a significant source of phytoconstituents. The aim of this review is to solicitude of classification, synthesis, and phytochemicals with biological activities of Erythrina. In our previous review on this genus (Hussain et. al., 2016a) fifteen species (Erythrina addisoniae, E. caribeae, E. indica, E. lattisima, E. melanacantha, E. mildbraedii, E. poeppigiama, E. stricta, E. subumbrans, E. veriagata, E. vespertilio, E. velutina, E. zeberi, E. zeyheri and E. americana) have been studied and 155 molecules with chemical structures were reported. A further comprehensive review was done upon continuation on the same genus and thirteen species (E. abyssinica, E. arborescens, E. berteroana, E. burttii, E. caffra, E. coralloids, E. crista-galli, E. fusca, E. herbaceae, E. lysistemon, E. mulungu, E. speciosa and E. tahitensis) of Erythrina have been studied and 127 compounds are reported as phytoconstituents with their chemical structure in this review. A new simple, sensitive and specific procedure has been developed for determination of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage forms using MBTH reagent. The purpose of this analytical validation procedure is to validate it by laboratory experiments to prove that the method meets the minimum standards for laboratory use. 3-methyl-2-bezothiazoline hydrazone reacts with the secondary amine group of tenofovir in the presence of oxidizing agent, ferric chloride. The resulting apple green coloured chromogen when measured spectrophotometrically in visible region (i.e., 400-800nm) shows a maximum absorbance at 626.5nm. This method can be successfully applied for the determination of drug content in pharmaceutical formulations. Four compounds were isolated from the leaves of Monodora brevipes Benth. (Annonaceae). Among them, one new natural indole named 5-formylindole (1) and three known aporphine alkaloids: (+)-roemeroline (2); (+)-corydine (3) and (+)-menispermine (4). They were isolated for the first time from this species. Parkinson’s disease (PD) is one of the neurodegenerative diseases with selective loss of dopamine neurons of the substantia nigra pars compacta. In the present study, anti-cataleptic activity of Tabernaemontana divaricata leaves extracts viz. aqueous and ethanolic at different doses (50, 100 and 150 mg/kg i.p.) were studied using haloperidol (1 mg/kg, i.p.) induced catalepsy in rats which is a useful animal model for screening drugs for Parkinson’s disease. Both the extracts were found to reduce catalepsy significantly (P<0.001) as compared to the haloperidol treated rats showing greater effect at 150 mg/kg i.p. dose. The acetone (AEAC) and aqueous extracts (AQEAC) of Adina cordifolia, belonging to the family Rubiaceae, were studied for hepatoprotective activity against Wister rats with liver damage induced by ethanol. It was found that AEAC and AQEAC, at a dose of 500 mg/kg body weight exhibited hepatoprotective effect by lowering the Serum Glutamate Pyruvate Transaminase (SGPT), Serum Glutamate Oxaloacetate Transaminase (SGOT), alkaline phosphate and total bilirubin to a significant extent and also significantly increased the levels of total protein. The hepatoprotective activity was also supported by histopathological studies of liver tissue. Since results of biochemical studies of blood samples of ethanol treated rats showed significant increase in the levels of serum enzyme activities, reflecting the liver injury caused by ethanol and blood samples from the animals treated with AEAC and AQEAC showed significant decrease in the levels of serum markers, indicating the protection of hepatic cells against ethanol induced hepatocellular injury. The objectives of this study were to isolate and identify Streptomyces from soil sediments as well as to optimize cultural growth conditions for maximum antibacterial productivity. A total of fifty soil sediments were collected from Red Sea, Sudan. The soil sediments were pretreated and cultivated on agar medium. Promising Streptomyces spp. were isolated by agar overlay method using indicator organisms. Optimization of chemical and physical culture conditions was carried out. The later was judged by assessment of antibacterial activity. Ethyl acetate was used to extract the secondary metabolite compounds. The separation of the active ingredients was performed using both thin layer chromatography (TLC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS). The results revealed nine strains of Streptomyces. Of them two (PS1 and PS28) isolates exhibited high activity against pathogenic bacteria. The optimum growth conditions were pH 7.5, temperature at 30°C, soyabean concentration 2.5 g/l, incubation period in 7 days, MgSO4.7H2O conc. 1g/l and K2HPO4 conc. 2.5g/l. TLC test showed three and two fragments from metabolites of PS1 and PS28 respectively, while the GC-MS analysis revealed eight and eleven compounds with antibacterial activity of PS1 and PS28 respectively. In the present experimental investigation an attempt has been made to assess the utility of Crushed Puffed Rice (CPR)-High Molecular Weight Chitosan (HMWCH)-Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose K15M (HPMC K15M) as a polymeric carrier for the sustained stomach delivery of Piroxicam (PRX). A total of nine formulations were prepared by using 3 (2) Taguchi factorial design, physically blending drug and polymer(s) followed by encapsulation into hard gelatin capsules size 1. The prepared capsules were evaluated for various performance such as weight variation, drug contents, in vitro buoyancy and drug release in 0.1 M HCl. The effect of drug loading on in vitro performance of the formulations was also determined. Crushed puffed rice (CPR) remained buoyant for up to average time span of 06 hr as an unwetted irregular mass in 0.1 M HCl. However, when combined with HMWCH or HPMC K15M or HPMC K15M + HMWCH a low -density cylindrical raft type hydrogel was formed which remained buoyant for up to 12 hr and released up to 99% drug in a sustained manner from 8 to 12 hr following zero order release kinetics. It was also observed that drug release from drug + CPR matrices followed Fickian mechanism. Combination of CPR + HMWCH or HMWCH + HPMC K15M also follows Fickian mechanism. Obtained data from the research work suggests that CPR in combination with HMWCH or HPMC K15M or HPMC has sufficient potential to be used as a carrier for stomach specific delivery of gastric irritant drug like PRX.Soni et al., International Current Pharmaceutical Journal, April 2018, 6(11): 61-80http://www.icpjonline.com/documents/Vol6Issue11/01.pdf

Purification of the dichloromethane (CH2Cl2) fraction of the aqueous extract of Rubus suavissimus resulted in the isolation of two sterols namely stigmasterol and ?-sitosterol.
