AbstractTropical wetlands are a significant source of atmospheric methane (CH4), but their importance to the global CH4 budget is uncertain due to a paucity of direct observations. Net wetland emissions result from complex interactions and co-variation between microbial production and oxidation in the soil, and transport to the atmosphere. Here we show that phenology is the overarching control of net CH4 emissions to the atmosphere from a permanent, vegetated tropical swamp in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, and we find that vegetative processes modulate net CH4 emissions at sub-daily to inter-annual timescales. Without considering the role played by papyrus on regulating the efflux of CH4 to the atmosphere, the annual budget for the entire Okavango Delta, would be under- or over-estimated by a factor of two. Our measurements demonstrate the importance of including vegetative processes such as phenological cycles into wetlands emission budgets of CH4.

Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs) epitomize the most significant source of financing in our economy. NBFI is highly levered in nature. This study tries to empirically identify how capital adequacy and leverage impact NBFIs’ performance in Bangladesh. A number of econometric models using panel data from 2009 to 2019 of 23 NBFIs of Bangladesh have been estimated to achieve the objective of this study. In this research, Return on Assets, Return on Equity and Tobin’s Q are used as a measure of NBFIs performance of Bangladesh. According to estimated result it has been found that capital adequacy has a positive effect on profitability of NBFI’s in Bangladesh. However, the research has found conflicting results when impact of leverage on NBFI performance is measured. Taking the empirical findings into consideration, the management of the NBFIs should embrace policies that are likely to help the NBFIs to maintain enough capital. Keywords: leverage, capital adequacy, NBFI performance, profitability, NBFI equity

An appropriate tear strength is one of the main properties that concern customers and it is also a significant source of claims. The authors make a review of the production process, focusing on each step that can either damage the natural strength of collagen fibers or improve them, and therefore, the leather. The aim of this work, divided in Part 1 and 2, is to transfer field tannery experiences collected over 40 years of activity in different tanneries, to colleagues that are looking for world class leather production. Part 1 has been published in JALCA, 116 (12), 2021.

The agriculture sector is considered the mainstay of Indian economy because it is a significant source of raw materials for industries and demands for many industrial products particularly fertilizers, pesticides, agriculture implements, and a variety of consumer goods. Agriculture takes up new scope and shape and is no longer the customary cultivation of crops and nurturing of animals or an enterprise for the rural people. Agripreneurship may be defined as the amalgamation of agriculture and entrepreneurship. It is the choice to assimilate in the quest to make agriculture an enterprise of adjuration in contemporary business engagements. If agriculture must alter from its largely sustenance status to becoming a competitive enterprise in the gauging of entrepreneurs, incorporation of business concepts in maneuvering issues of agriculture is the way to go. The present study is a review work engrossed in using agribusiness to boost job creation and raise productivity and the income bases of farmers.

This paper uses a co-citation analysis to examine the research on L2 vocabulary acquisition that was published in 1989. Two analyses are presented. The first is a detailed account of the 1989 research on its own terms. The second analysis places this work in a larger context by looking at research published in a five-year window covering 1985–89. The analyses identify important themes in the research and significant sources who are influencing the way the research is developing at this time. The main features of this work are the substantial growth in dictionary and corpus research, and the emergence of Paul Nation as the Most Significant Source in 1989.

Abstract This paper is focused on the daily processes in the well kick-off operations, which are still a significant source of risk from occupational safety and health prospect. Several studies show that the number of severe injuries and fatalities still remains high despite substantial efforts the industry has put in recent years in decreasing those numbers. This paper argues that the next level of safety performance will have to consider a transition from coping solely with workplace dangers, to a more innovative paradigm. Taking operations & transportation risks into consideration leads to embracing a smart way to eliminating risk factors to a minimum and, in many cases eliminating such risk.

Entrepreneurship plays a paramount role in the magnification and development of the economy of any country. Entrepreneurship acts as a vaccine for a nation's economic prosperity, leading to the generation of employment opportunities, national income, rural development, technological development, industrialization, export promotion, etc. Many institutes and companies are involved in entrepreneurship development activities, and some join these programs as a stepping stone to becoming an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs convert conceptions into economic opportunities through innovations considered a significant source of competitiveness in an increasingly globalizing world economy. Ergo, most regimes strive to augment the supply of competent and ecumenically competitive entrepreneurs in their respective countries. The primary purport of this research is to understand the paramountcy of entrepreneurship in India. Numerous factors need to be considered while expertise the significance of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs experience several opportunities and challenges inside the direction of pursuance in their goals and targets.

The authors make a review of the production process, focusing on each step that can either damage the natural strength of collagen fibers or improve them and therefore, the leather. Although the authors’ experience is in bovine hides, the general concepts presented in this paper may be applied to other types of hides and skins. The aim of this work is to transfer field tannery experiences collected over 40 years of activity in different tanneries, to colleagues that are looking for world class leather production.

AbstractThe Japanese government has announced a commitment to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. It envisages an important role for hydrogen in the nation’s future energy economy. This paper explores the possibility that a significant source for this hydrogen could be produced by electrolysis fueled by power generated from offshore wind in China. Hydrogen could be delivered to Japan either as liquid, or bound to a chemical carrier such as toluene, or as a component of ammonia. The paper presents an analysis of factors determining the ultimate cost for this hydrogen, including expenses for production, storage, conversion, transport, and treatment at the destination. It concludes that the Chinese source could be delivered at a volume and cost consistent with Japan’s idealized future projections.

Mushrooms represent a large family of fleshy fungi that have been of high interest since ancient ages due to their medicinal and nutritional importance. Therefore, it can represent a significant source of bioactive compounds in malaria control. The few numbers of studies on <i>in vitro</i> antiplasmodial and insecticidal properties of their extracts and chemical constituents led to interesting results reported in numerous scientific publications. This review aims to provide a comprehensive compilation of literature up to 2021 on the antiplasmodial, insecticidal as well as cytotoxic chemical constituents of medicinal mushrooms that can help in the management of malaria both against the parasite <i>Plasmodium falciparum</i> and the mosquitoe <i>Anopheles stephensis</i> acting as a vector of malaria through its bites. For this purpose, some searches have been done in some online libraries using keywords like Basidiomycete, mushroom, malaria, <i>Plasmodium</i>, <i>Anopheles</i> and antiplasmodial without language restriction. Among the reported compounds, 51 selected ones displayed significant antiplasmodial potency with IC50 values lower than 10 μM against <i>P. falciparum</i> strains sensitive or resistant to chloroquine. For instance, ganoderic acid AW1 demonstrated a strong antiplasmodial activity with IC50 of 257.8 nM against <i>P. falciparum</i> D6, while strong activities were displayed by ganoweberianones A (IC50 = 0.050 μM) and B (IC50 = 0.46 μM) against <i>P. falciparum</i> K1. Moreover, some mushroom methanol extracts demonstrated good larvicidal and ovicidal activities against <i>Anopheles stephensis</i>. This paper provides further insights into the development of new antiplasmodial drugs or new potent eco-friendly pesticides to control mosquito vectors.
