The city is a place with many social, economic and political reflections. Every concept it reflects has a transformative power within itself. The city, which is an important part of the social structure, is an important place where the Chinese artist Liu Bolin offers a critical approach to many social, ekonomic and political problems at a global level. It reveals this approach as camouflaging in front of spaces and objects through performance and photography. The artist tries to reveal the local and universal concerns he wants to show by hiding. The concept of camouflage, which is a strategy of protection from external threats, shows the threat itself to the audience in Liu Bolin's works. While the concepts of being watched and hiding (camouflage) present two opposing situations, it makes one feel tension. The situation pointed out by the artist, who touches on issues such as environmental pollution, sustainability, human rights and equality that directly affect the future of the world and humanity on a global scale in recent years, is presented directly to the audience. The camouflaged body, which can be seen when carefully looking at the works in the Hiding in the City series, confronts us with the magnitude of danger. Keywords: camouflage, city, art, photography, artist, Liu Bolin, hiding

This paper explores how the system of meat supply influenced the topographical development of two marginal districts of sixteenth-century Istanbul. Through the combination of information contained in various historical sources, the paper reconstructs the economic links between some of their ‘dependent’ establishments such as slaughterhouses, tanning workshops, candle- and soapmakers. Throughout, it is argued that decisions about the location of these establishments were closely related to social, economic and probably technological factors of the era.

AbstractThe 3389 copper (alloy) bells from offerings included in successive building phases of Late Postclassic Templo Mayor (A.D. 1325 – 1520) of Tenochtitlan (Mexico City) are the results of production processes influenced by social, economic, ideological and technological factors. The compositional and morphological variability of the bells in the earlier construction phases of the Templo Mayor suggests the presence of several workshops in or around Tenochtitlan, while the reduction of this spectrum on one bell type made of copper-tin bronze, points towards a standardization of the production process and a decrease in the number of workshops that supplied the Templo Mayor in later phases. The compositional and morphological information, as well as contextual analysis and comparison with other Mexican bells, give insights into the bells' symbolism, the mechanisms used to supply the Templo Mayor with offerings, the organization of metalwork and the rationale behind some of the technological choices of the artisans. The detected changes through time seem to point to important shifts in the social, technological, economic and ideological influences on the choices of the artisans in the latter half of Aztec rule.

This paper attempts to show how nationalism has served to transcend political, social, economic and cultural challenges in Ethiopia. Nationalists in Ethiopia have attempted to harness national cohesion against threats from both within and outside of Ethiopia. External threats have always provided an opportunity to mobilize the citizens and suppress internal dissent in the name of national identity. This paper discusses different forms of nationalism in Ethiopia and attempts to demonstrate that in the conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia, though territory and economic issues indeed played a role, to reduce the causes of conflict merely to these two factors is a mistake. This conflict has to be approached from a political-psychological aspect as well. Unless there is a change in the expression of nationalism and in the perception of national identity, it will be difficult to address the dynamic of the Eritrean-Ethiopian border conflict and find lasting solutions.

Undoubtedly, the associative (as well as the lexical) meaning of words changes under the influence of social, economic, and technological factors. In this article, we will try to trace the changes in the associative meaning of words related to the sphere of trade relations under the influence of the increasing tendency of transition of trade relations to the Internet, especially due to COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The results of the associative experiment we conducted this autumn are compared with the older data and conclusions about the features of the associative meaning of the same words made in 2019. The previously analyzed concepts were chosen as the stimuli for the 2020 experiment (kupit’ (buy), magazin (store), oplata(payment), prodazha (sale), otzyvy (reviews), dostavka (delivery), sajt (website), akcija(promotion), besplatno (free)). As material for the comparative study, we used the data of the direct and reverse associative dictionaries and results of our previous experiment in 2016.The results of the experiment reflect the changes in the associative meaning of words. Thus, a negative attitude towards the concepts ‘buy’, ‘promotion’ and ‘free’ is increasing; the associative meaning of the concepts ‘buy’ and ‘promotion’ is changing; the number of reactions associated with the implementation of trade operations on the Internet is sharply increasing, and, finally, the reactions to the stimulus dostavka (delivery) are now characterized by a greater detail.

Material selection means to select some kind of material which can both meet the structural requirements and reduce cost so as to get the greatest economic interest. This selected material should also be suitable to the environmental conditions and accord with the resources supply. Compared with the other aspects of products design, material selection is the most essential part. Material selection for design is a complex process. It is necessary to construct a system for matching principles of material selection in product design, to ensure it to reach an appropriate goal. This system requires the designer to take into consideration social, economic and technological factors from the perspective of the design itself. It also requires the designer to take the initiative to select, so as to reach the goal of Shi.

At the motor transport (MT) the concept of technological and innovative energy saving is actual. However, the existing method of increasing the cost-effective efficiency of motor transport does not correspond to this concept because the basis of the theory of the motor transport process consists of the axioms, which neglected: a) the fragmenting effect of existing technological paradoxes on the integrity of knowledge about motor transport as a sphere of material production; b) the resource, production and technological essence of this process; c) innovative variability of parameters of new cars and transport technologies. In addition, the basis of the fundamental designed scheme of the transport operation is based on simplified mathematical description of the virtual transposition operations. These methodological shortcomings do not allow to analyze and substantiate innovative technical and technological projects of motor transport. For the possibility of realization of the actual concept of technological and innovative energy saving on MT, in NTU the theory and methods of a comprehensive increase of energy efficiency of a car (EREC) of a general type, as well as methods of simulation and test formation of energy saving of motor transport technologies were designed.
