Abstract. Istomo, Kusmana C, Dwiyanti FG, Malik D. 2020. Comparison of several methods of stands inventory prior to logging towards the yield volume of mangrove forest in Bintuni Bay, West Papua Province, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 21: 1438-1447. The difference between the estimated volume and the actual harvested volume is the reason that mangrove forest management is unsustainable. To overcome this discrepancy, it is important to do what so called Inventarisasi Tegakan Sebelum Penebangan (ITSP) or stands inventory prior to logging for logging concession. However, the study on suitable ITSP methods for mangrove forests has been limited. This study aims to assess three ITSP methods (namely Line Strip Sampling Method, Line Systematic Sampling Method, and CIFOR’s Modified Method) using two allometric equations (i.e., equation developed specifically by a logging concession and equation developed that has specific formula for each species), and to select the combination of method and allometric equation that produce the highest accuracy for logging concession in mangrove forest, especially in Bintuni Bay, West Papua. The results showed that CIFOR’s Modified Method produces the lowest discrepancy between the estimated volume and the actual harvested volume, followed by Line Strip Sampling Method. In addition, regardless the ITSP methods employed, the allometric equation by Cole et al. (1999) outperforms the equation developed specifically by a logging concession. While producing the lowest discrepancy with plot size is the smallest than other methods, CIFOR’s Modified Method has a disadvantage when applied in the field due to difficulties in making a circular plot. As such, we recommend ITSP method to be used is the Line Strip Sampling method with allometric equation.

Mangrove forest ecosystems are  habitat of various types of microorganisms, but now, problems of mangrove forests experience are in quality and wealth. Efforts to rehabilitate activities  mangrove forests againts had been carried out but the results shown had not been maximized, so it is need the correct strategies  to achieve the success for rehabilitation activities. The studied was conducted in Teluk Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, covered coastal areas of Kupang's mangrove forests and coastal mangrove forests in Kupang district. The method used in this studied was a systematic sampling method that was systematically distributed across all the mangrove forest areas. The method used for salinity measurement was  method of transmission and Transect Line Plots. Measurements was made in straight line and the size of the plot is 10 m x 10 m, the distanced between lines was 50 meters so that  total lane is 547 with the number of plots of observation 1641 plots. The value of  measurement results was made into the spread of salinity used the interpolation method. The condition of the crossed of  mangrove forest located on  coastal panoramas of  Kupang city shows a salinity value of 10,26 - 26.33%, while  salinity conditions was on the coast of  Kupang ten district 10-42.33 ‰. The salinity condition was formulation of the environmental conditions  mangrove forest on  coast of the island as well as attempts to support  management of mangrove forest activities. The distribution of different mangrove forest conditions along the coastal zone of North Sumatra shows an environmental condition that supports mangrove growth even though in some places the salinity values are high. Results of this study of salinity conditions is a study of the environment of mangrove growth so that it can provide an overview for the government in conducting various activities to rehabilitate mangrove forests.

Coastal areas can either meet the human needs or give great contribution to the development. However, rapid infrastrural development in Sorong, west Papua, has been followed by high demand for mangrove timber and caused mangrove forest degradation due to exploitation. This exploitation could also result from high economic value of the mangrove timber. This study was done to analyze the economic value of mangrove wood utilized by the people to support the development process in Sorong. This study used primary data obtained through interviews and the economic value calculation of mangrove forests. It found that Sorong had mangrove economic value of IDR 165,197,833, 491.

In this study, five abattoirs in Istanbul were visited between January 2000 and April 2001. During these visits, 330 cattle were selected by a systematic sampling method. Cattle were examined clinically and breed, age, and sex were recorded. Rectal swabs were taken immediately after slaughter. Immunomagnetic separation was performed, and sorbitol-negative colonies were selected on sorbitol MacConkey agar with cefixime and tellurite (CT-SMAC agar). These colonies were checked for 4-methylenebelliferyl-β-d-glucuronide, indol, rhamnose, and urease activity and motility. Serotypes of bacteria were determined by using antisera specific for Escherichia coli O157 and H7. All cattle selected were clinically healthy. Of 88 sorbitol-negative colonies selected on CT-SMAC agar, isolates from only 14 (4.2%) cattle reacted with anti-O157, and 13 of these isolates also reacted with anti-H7. E. coli O157:H7 was isolated from all breeds, but the numbers of isolates were largest for Holstein and Swiss Brown cows. E. coli O157:H7 was most frequently isolated from 2-year-old cattle. Similarly, it was most frequently isolated from male cattle. E. coli O157:H7 was isolated from cattle slaughtered in four of the five abattoirs studied.

The background of this research was based on the continued development of international aviation in the world which was a challenge for the translator to find an equivalent sentence. The purpose of this thesis was to find the equivalence type used in translating the source language to the target language and find the dominant equivalence type used. For solving this problem, the writer used Nida and Taber theory that divided equivalence types into two types, namely formal equivalence or formal correspondence and dynamic equivalence. The method used was descriptive qualitative method. The data was obtained through systematic sampling method. Based on the analysis, the equivalence types of 53 of 66 samples (80%) were translated by using formal correspondence; 12 of 66 samples were translated using dynamic equivalence (18%) and only one sample (2%) did not neither involve in formal correspondence nor dynamic equivalence because SL text did not have translation in TL (reserved). The most dominant equivalence type used in the translation was formal correspondence.
